We are having bagels and a breakfast sandwich. Everything was great and the service is amazing. Friendly smiling faces that were kind and attentive. The food came out quickly and it’s close to the Westin hotel. Unfortunately I didn’t try the coffee so I can’t speak to that.

First time here and the bagel was delicious! Everything bagel with cream cheese(I would go a bit lighter on it next time) black forest ham with pepper jack cheese. Nice and toasty and fast. The Chai tea is still too hot to sip.

Hubby and I wanted breakfast within a few minutes walking distance. This place was the least busy out of the three places we picked out, but that may have been because it was the farthest one away from the hotels. We got a mocha, Funky Monkey frappaccino, and shared a pancake combo. The coffees were pretty good. I liked that the Funky Monkey was smooth and rich with peanut butter. The pancakes were deliciously fluffy, and the bacon was crispy and not too fatty. The scrambled eggs were uneventful. Unfortunately, though, the potatoes had been cooked in waaay too much Tobasco sauce. Yuck. The girls who were working were pleasant, and overall, I had a nice breakfast experience in a quiet café.

Below average coffee and below average service. Came in on a Sunday around 8AM — there were two ladies working behind the counter(one at the register, one at the espresso machine) and there were two customers in front of me. It took over 15 minutes for me to order and get my two lattes. I don’t know what was happening on their end — maybe there was something wrong with the register, but then that doesn’t explain why the lady behind the espresso machine was plodding along so leisurely as if she were on vacation instead of at work. If the latte had been worth the wait, I would’ve given Dee’s more stars — but it was abysmal: bland, weak espresso and milk that wasn’t quite frothed right. Quite a disappointing visit — the ladies behind the counter may have been sweet, but I couldn’t get passed the slow service and tasteless latte. Maybe, when I have lots of free time to spare, I’ll give Dee’s a second chance and order food from them, but there’s no question that my caffeine needs will have to be met somewhere else.

This is my go-to downtown coffee shop. I love that it’s big with great light and the staff is always friendly. The coffee is fresh and the different bagel spreads are a nice touch, although I feel like they discontinue spreads at random. My favorite is the honey walnut raisin on a blue berry bagel.

What does a girl have to do to get a lox bagel? Ordered it at 8:12 so it s/b ready in 10 min 8:22. Waited about 25 min and asked a girl to check on it; she never came back and went to the cash register. Another 5 min and I asked another girl. After 30 min of wait time, I found out their system is undergoing problems ringing in orders. Walk out w/refund and no breakfast @ 8:44

This place was great. The atmosphere was coffee house mixed with café which was done well. The French toast bread was large and fluffy. The bacon was possibly a little over done for some people but still very delicious. I ordered over easy eggs, but the whites weren’t done all the way. The pancakes were good. My favorite thing was the chai latte I had. I added some honey which is what I add to a chai tea latte at Starbucks, but I may not have needed to. Their chai latte was sweeter than the one at Starbucks and cool enough to drink immediately while still being a hot drink! I would recommend this place!

I came here during Comic Con and it was delicious. It’s right across from the Ralph’s everyone goes to. I feed three of us for $ 20 — which is very reasonable for someplace downtown. I wished I lived closer because I’d be a regular!

As soon as I got inside this coffee house I felt comfortable and the atmosphere was very welcoming. The baristas were super friendly. The coffee and the acai bowl were very delicious and I will definitely go back and try more things!

I was on my way to Subway, when it occurred to me that I had never tried Dee’s after living downtown for a year. I’m glad I stopped by today. Everything was on point: the service, the menu, the food, and the prices. The girl who took my order was totally sweet and down to earth and friendly. I cherish this, as a native Virginian who sometimes thinks that customer service and kindness can be lacking in SoCal. The menu was excellent, especially for a coffee shop this size. Usually, you would expect a really short and limited menu, but this was not the case. They serve both breakfast and lunch items(sandwiches, salads, and omelets). And for all you vegetarians out there, don’t worry, they got you! The food came out pretty quickly and was delivered to my table(order at the counter). The meat, veggies, and bread were of good quality and very fresh. The ONLY thing one might complain about is the portion size. This is a normal sized portion people and not the gigantic/get you fat portion sizes served at most restaurants. But this made me happy and is probably the reason why their prices are so reasonable. For my beverages, I had a water and coffee, which you can’t really screw up. This is a dog friendly establishment. I got to see a cute one with his human companion getting coffee. While this is a small coffee shop, there is no shortage of tables and places to sit both indoor and outdoor(unlike Starbuck’s). I have no regrets in stopping by or choosing this establishment over Subway. I hope to come here much more often now that I’m in the know. This is an excellent choice for a small, relaxed, reasonably priced neighborhood coffee shop and eatery.

Nice coffee shop, they have sandwiches and wraps available too… We walked here from the New Children’s Art Museum… The barista was very friendly and relaxed, also very helpful when we were trying to figure out what we wanted to order. We ordered and paid at the counter and took a seat… The coffee we ordered was brought to us a few minutes later, and the food followed soon after. We got the COOKIEMONSTERFRAPPE. Blended nicely, tastes like a mocha with Oreo cookie and caramel. Yummy… Definitely rich, but not crazy sweet. We also ordered their turkey wrap, my husband really enjoyed. The kids ate a plain toasted bagel, served open faced with whipped cream cheese. Pretty good. I ordered their chicken wrap. It had a tomato based tapenade. I enjoyed my wrap… But if I want to be more critical, I must say that the tomato tapenade was just a hint too powerful… And I expected my wrap to be a bit more dense… It had a lot of lettuce in it. Otherwise, I still tasted good and I’d come back… The wraps comes with a small fruit cup(or kettle chips). The fruit was ripe and sweet. The madeleines they sold at the counter were also delicious…

Great location, great food, reasonable prices– yes! I tried Dee’s for the first time on April 27, 2014. I woke up hungry, dizzy, and groggy on Sunday morning after dancing the night away at a friend’s wedding the day before. I do not drink alcohol, so I believe one of my friends rufied me that night. It’s the only explanation for why I felt so bad the next day. My friends are the best, right?(But that’s neither here nor there). My fiancé and I schlepped ourselves to Dee’s for breakfast. I ordered the California Omelet,(eggs, bacon, avocado, cheddar cheese) w/side of fruit and toast, orange juice, and a coffee.($ 15). My future hubby ordered the spinach egg sandwich on pita.($ 6). We had empty plates and full-happy bellies. The servers were nice, and it was nice to get some fresh air at the tables outside. Sorry Jimmy Carter’s, but I think I have a new go-to breakfast joint!

I stopped by to grab a quick bite to eat the other morning. I ordered a whole wheat bagel with honey walnut raisin cream cheese spread, plus a hot tea. The spread may sound like an unusual combination, but it was delicious! The prices on their menu display is outdated, but they are still reasonable(my breakfast was a little less than 5 bucks). Service was friendly but slow. My bagel took at least 10 minutes to come out, so I can’t imagine how long it takes them to cook hot items like French toasts. Free wifi is available, and there is plenty of seating. It’s a nice change of pace from going to Starbucks downtown, but I would make sure you’re not in a hurry.

Nice place to have a coffee and a bite to eat. I have stopped here several times and really like this place. It isn’t just a coffee stop but a nice café too. There is a good selection of foods to choose from and a variety of drinks. Their open face bagels are tasty. I have also had a wrap and it was served with fresh fruit.(yum yum) The staff is really friendly. The coffee and tea prices are about the same as other place that serve similar stuff. The food prices are reasonable for the portions that they serve. There are nice table and chairs in the café. And this is located on a busy street corner so you can watch the foot and vehicle traffic and be sometimes entertained with what you see.

I come here every now and then to split a bagel sandwich with my coworker during break time. The sunrise bagel sandwich is awesome, always cooked correctly and is big enough for a break meal. I’ve tried the coffee and ice tea here on occasion, they are both brewed great and taste up to par. Espresso is always a great treat here, hammerhead wakes me up in the early morning. Staff is always friendly and greats you with a smile. They’re on top of your order, get it correct the first time and are prompt to get your food out hot. This is a great spot to just chill out after a couple hours of working downtown in the Horton plaza area.

Gluten free and dairy free breakfast. The Newbreak omelette was delicious. The potatoes savory — nice garlic and onion flavor. Best coffee we have had in days. The service here is friendly. We waited for food, but had time and were told when we places the order.

Very nice location across from Ralphs in Downtown. Good coffee but nothing out of the ordinary. I did not like the service the 2 times I have been there. Once the girl got confused and brought me something different. The other one did not understand my accent and keep looking at me like if I came from another planet. Dudettes, this is a global city, get used to foreign accents or hire people who can understand others without putting question mark-poker face. Thanks. I had some nice chocolate sweet that was perfect. So nothing to complain about drinks and food.

I had a very nice small bite for breakfast here and a smooth Americano. I ordered their Greek Breakfast on pita.( ) It came with well seasoned fluffy eggs with feta, spinach, and oregano. It all went well together. The pita was moist and delightful. The eggs came nicely nestled inside.( ) The Americano I had was surprisingly smooth and rich. I was very pleased with my coffee. The customer service was very nice and prompt. Al together my meal cost $ 7 and some change. Great coffee shop with some nice eats.

Dee’s Newbreak Coffee SD: Downtown May 6, 2012 Three Stars This coffee shop downtown was nothing special in regards to their coffee. The Cappuccino tasted alright — The espresso was properly made, but the foam was on the thick side. Nothing to complain about.
