I just hit this spot up for a mocha because I was on the way to brunch when I felt an energy low. Other people would probably«work through it» or «sack up.» Me? I crawled here to get some mocha energy. As I blubbered my order between my tired tears,(not really this is called exaggeration for effect) I noticed that they had a very modern little place with seating and wifi. The service was alright. I mean, did they offer to listen to all my hopes and dreams or sympathize with my greatest life disappointments? No. They did take a spell to get my order but I did get it in enough time not to get all weird about it. The mocha was ok but did not have a real chocolate flavor. So I would not order it again. I would try another drink here though. So there is that. There will always be that.

Nice little coffee joint. Solid iced and regular lattes. Loved the 80s music. They use crushed ice in there lattes — gets cold quickly — I liked it.

I love this coffee shop. It’s got a nice variety of tea selections with higher quality tea than Starbucks and the like. I’ve heard great things about their coffee, but I’m not a coffee drinker and can’t attest. The sandwiches are also considerably better than nearby Specialty’s with more vegetarian options for sandwiches. I especially appreciate that many of the options don’t revolve around cream cheese or sliced cheese. I’ve had a couple vegetarian sandwiches with hummus as the main protein and some avocado to make the meal more substantial. The bagels were fresh as were the wraps. And the pastries, like the bean muffin or coconut macaroons, are also on par or slightly better than nearby coffee shops. And did I mention they option have liege waffles. That’s right, they have real Belgian waffles with the chewy and buttery dough that hides little bits of pearl sugar. I can’t be trusted to come back here too often or I’ll be round enough to roll there instead of walk. I also like this place to work, although my current job is ill suited to as much. The atmosphere is mostly quieter. And service was quick and friendly. This place is definitely worth a visit.

They have a semi-automatic machine for espresso. Clean space, opens early at 6am, side walk patio faces the sun in the morning — a welcome place to sit and enjoy a brew on a cool winter morning. I found my double shot latte a bit weak and the barrista made the latte like a cappuccino(way too much foam) — maybe she doesn’t know the difference? Milk a bit over steamed. In all an acceptable place, but I will find a better place next time.

I recently discovered Crocevia when I was leaving the gym one morning, realized I was STARVING, and definitely wasn’t going to make it all the way to the office without my stomach eating itself. Crocevia’s space is open and airy(although the tables are perhaps a *wee* bit close together?) and the wifi is free. The staff on each of my visits has been friendly and welcoming. I like the variety on the menu — everything from omelets and sandwiches to acai bowls, salads, and wraps. While I was waiting for my to-go order today, I noticed they have a veggie rice breakfast bowl — I love those! It feels like a healthier way to get carbs than a bagel, so I’ll have to remember that during my next post-gym stop for food. One teeny, tiny criticism is that they offer your choice of bagel or «pita» for their breakfast sandwiches. I chose pita, but it’s not so much a pita as it is a flatbread. It was totally fine, just not at all what I was expecting.

Atmosphere is really important to me – The high ceilings, light and bright feel, and modern art is really GREAT. Finding parking is difficult and the hours… I often would like to go there at midnight! Good nice staff. Would be nice of more couches to enjoy seeing people walk by and look at the beautiful art of San Diego and Italy or Spain I think it is.

This is definitely my go-to indie coffee shop and study spot during my lunch breaks. I usually enjoy their dark roast coffee which always tastes consistently good each time I come in, which is not the case with independent shops. When I need to avoid caffeine, I will get one of their iced teas, which have good flavor but not overly sweet. I don’t always order lunch, but when I do, I grab the turkey sandwich or wrap. They are both substantial and taste fresh each time I get one. They also have a drink rewards program which is good for regulars like myself. Stop by if you find yourself near Horton Plaza or the Convention Center.

Adorable coffee shop in downtown SD. I love their acai bowls … my fiancé and I wanted to take one with us on the airplane. Their lattes were also great. It’s near the mall, so outside of the traditional downtown area, but still great. I always love a chance to give business to small coffee shops.

I’m really impressed. I’ve been here quite a few times and 5 stars across the board for quality, variety, service, and design. I appreciate how the owner really understands coffee. I’m a cook and wine connoisseur so I appreciate people who deeply understand something as seemingly simple as coffee(even though its not when you peel back layers of what, how, why, etc. like anything in life). Its admirable he’s not just doing the same thing the previous owners did(I used to go to Newbreak)… this guy knows his stuff and some may think its funny or cool or perhaps interesting… he loves talking about coffee. I’m a regular, and I appreciate the owner takes pride in being hands on and taking time to explain the menu or even a story behind a menu item. I also appreciate the energy and commitment of the staff… especially the manager. She is incredible. Perhaps I’m biased because I live in the area and go there a lot… but this is probably a good thing i.e. they take care of their locals. I’m a big fan of modern, light, bright, and… the modern art is incredible. The San Diego skyline art they have is beyond… WOW!!! Cheers, Jeff

The décor is very modern and trendy, very cute and welcoming. It even smelled awesome in there too. HOWEVER, we saw on their menu that they offered Vietnamese iced coffee. My hubby and I were stoked since it’s not common that many coffee shops offer Vietnamese iced coffee. One word: Disappointment I honestly don’t know what was in our drink but it was disgusting! It tasted warm(even though it was«iced»), watery and NOWHERE near what a Vietnamese iced coffee should taste like. Not sure if they even used the proper ingredients. It was two of us sharing the drink and unfortunately we couldn’t even finish it and had to throw it away cause it just tasted weird. With so many other coffee shops in the area, it is very debatable if I would attempt this one again.

Cute and delicious place to graba bite on the way to the convention center. Coffee is only $ 1 if you bring your refillable mug! The staff was very friendly and helpful, so I will probably be coming here every morning for the rest of my stay in San Diego.

This place is Next-Level coffee shop food. Stationed on the corner of G and First, it sports an industrial/minimalist ambient décor. Arriving early in the morning, my wife and I grabbed a seat in the coziest of spots, in the corner behind the big white pillar, settling into brown comfy chairs sipping fresh coffee while we waited for our food to arrive. I was bordering on impatience to be served but once the food arrived and then diving in after my first bite… oh was it ever worth the wait! So pleasantly surprised by their rice meet bowl. I’d never been somewhere that put this kind of combo together in the way they did. Tasty, scrumptious and breakfast goodness in all manner of speaking. Far beyond what I was expecting and love the fact it’s right around the corner from us. No doubt I’ll be back for more.

Literally the slowest coffee shop ever. It took over 30 minutes to get my burrito. Other patrons who came in after me received their food before me, and the explanation we received was«oh, well we cook everything from scratch». It doesn’t make sense that someone else who orders the exact same breakfast burrito after me receives it first. Finally they did nicely offer to comp my order. Also the coffee is abominably terrible. Do not waste your time or money here.

My chocolate croissant was delightful with a café latte. I had a breakfast burrito as well, which was too much food for me. Get one or the other. I have way high standards for breakfast burritos, and this one didn’t do it for me. I also like my salsa to be hot, and their’s was basically just chopped up tomatoes. Nonetheless, it was good(not great). Wifi is free and space is plentiful, so it seems like a good place to come sip a cup-a-Joe and putts around on the interweb.

Cool atmosphere with white walls and white wood. The Mexican Mocha, a mix of chocolate, peanut and chili flavors with hot chocolate and 1 or 2 shots of espresso was exceptional. Service was super friendly and professional. Will definitely stop by the next time I am in SD. I didn’t find the wifi to be as fantastic as some of the other reviewers, however; not bad, but not phenomenal.

I really like a great coffee shop, and this left me with the warm fuzzies after I left. I stopped in a Sunday morning before brunch for a two shot Americano and a house made Belgian waffle. The Americano was great and had strong rich flavor yet, it went down smoothly without a hint of bitterness. The Belgian waffle was just grand. It not only had that great waffle flavor, but was also infused with some great cinnamon and syrup flavor. It was thick and moist and simply a great treat to eat with my espresso. The young ladies working here were great and friendly as well. I used their free WiFi to get some work done while I was there, and it worked very well without any hiccups. Nice place for and coffee and snack indeed.

This shop is what I want my future kitchen to look like. It’s clean and modern looking, and I love the style of wood they have. Right near Horton plaza, it’s convenient to park and walk over if you’re shopping. We were hesitant to come in at first because it looked closed, but I’m sure glad we did. Definitely needed some coffee, and theirs was great! We ordered a nonfat iced caramel latte and a nonfat iced hazelnut latte, both doubles. After ordering we sat down at a table near the wall(which was beautifully tiled) and enjoyed our drinks. They even delivered them to our table! It was empty inside, so it was nice and quiet. Also after walking around outside we were very warm, so it was very relaxing to be able to sit inside a cool coffee shop and enjoy our iced drinks. The only thing I wasn’t a huge fan of was the fact that their menu was SO simple that we could hardly figure out what to order. None of the different flavored lattes were on the menu and they didn’t specify that they had iced lattes(or many iced drinks for that matter). Of course I knew they would, but it would have been nice to see them on the menu so we didn’t have to ask what different syrups were available. I’d come back here to grab a drink and sit inside for awhile — would be a shame to not make use of their beautiful décor!
