Dave’s Flower Box

I’ve purchased flowers for my wife here a few times. They generally don’t stay fresh as long as other places, but they look nice when you get them. I would rate them at 2 stars, but the last time I bought flowers and they died after 3 days, I took them back and they refreshed them for free and they lasted another 5 days. I really appreciated the great customer service, but I wish the product was a little better.

My husband aunt passed away and my husband wanted to by some flowers for the funeral.
We looked for the nearest florist and this was it.
When we walked in we noticed they had good stock of fresh flowers from roses to natural green plants.
We explained our situation and right away the female who was cashiering gave us a few books to choose from.
We picked two diffrent arrangement. The female cashier and Dave were very open and sensitive to our needs. We explained the colors we wanted we changed our minds a few time but they did not seem fustrated. Dave would suggest a few things on what flowers would look better or fit the arrangement best.
On my husbands aunt funeral they dilevered on time and the flowers were beautiful. The colors match great. I greatly appreciate them would def. Recommend and would go buy flowers from them.

My boyfriend brought home a peace lily (spathiphyllum) for us about a year ago. It was our first «pet» you could say. We were excited to keep something alive together, it was kind of romantic. But then not even a year later our peace lily died. I had never had a plant before so not wanting to just go off of what I read on the internet, I brought our plant back into Dave’s flowers to get a confirmation that our peace lily was no longer living. I guess we had over watered it. With every intention to pick out another plant at a later time before I could even leave the store they handed me a brand new peace lily and said try again and wouldn’t let me pay. It almost brought me to tears. It was the nicest thing. Now a couple months later with a few pointers, our new peace lily is thriving! I would recommend this place to everyone. It’s very rare to come across just kind genuine strangers and I will remember this forever.

I’ve been using Dave’s flower box for a couple years now. They always have a great selection of flowers and put a nice looking bouquet together. Prices are reasonable and the staff is always nice to interact with. I’ll continue to use them.

I’ve driven by this shop dozens of times but finally stopped in yesterday on Mother’s Day.
This florist has been in the neighborhood for around 60 years, according to the staff, and after my visit I can see why they are successful.
Although this may be because it was Mother’s Day, I found they had more premade arrangements than I usually see at a florist. The fridge was stocked full of colorful cut flower arrangements, including gorgeous 3-​rose ones in a glass vase for $ 20.
I liked that there were a bunch of potted plants to choose from that were decorated well enough to be a great gift as an alternative to cut flowers. I chose a beautiful hydrangea potted plant for $ 35. There were many in festive baskets, and they even had tiny little baskets of plants for $ 7 that would have been great for a kid to give to her mom.
Prices seem on par without being expensive. They had long stem roses for $ 5, and Gerbera daisies for $ 2.50. They even had a special yesterday: $ 14.99 for a dozen roses PLUS a free second bunch of roses!
What was absolutely amazing were the RAINBOW colored roses for $ 6.95 each. Each rose had multiple colors! Check out my photo.
I was surprised to see they had some very robust potted orchid plants for $ 65-​$ 75. Usually I just see little ones for around $ 15 but I guess I usually don’t look for orchard plants in general.

The flowers they me sent contained lilies, which are deadly poisonous to cats, but they took the trouble to remove the pollen from the lilies. I really appreciated this extra effort. If the cat eats any part of the lily, that is still poisonous, but it is the pollen that cats most often get into or bump into. I would appreciate it even more if they noted on their website which flowers are deadly to pets, so that when people order flowers, they can make smart choices based on who the flowers are intended for.

My husband –in a surprising romantic gesture– had roses delivered to the restaurant for our anniversary dinner. At home I discovered some roses were broken. They had wired them together and hidden it in lots a green. The brake did look old and it was only the broken roses that were wired.
Get nice and fresh flowers from somebody else who does not cheat you out of your money.

I placed and order online for flowers to be delivered the next day and in the note said that I needed the order delivered in a specific 1 hour window. I wanted to make sure that the flowers were delivered so I called to double check my request was received. I told the man that I wanted the flowers delivered in a hour window and he said it was not possible. I mean it is a $ 15 delivery fee and it is 2 blocks away and the man was just so rude about it I cancelled the order.
I ended up calling a flower shop down the street and the super nice lady told me it wasn’t a problem. The last time I call this place.

Great value for such beautiful assorted roses

My boyfriend buys flowers here for special occasions because its close to our place. I’ve never thought the quality of flowers that come from that shop were good at all. They only last a few days usually because they’re old. Recently on my birthday he bought me flowers from here and they were moldy, old, and tore up. Last straw. Never again.

They can be quite pricey so I wouldn’t recommend shopping there at the last minute. If you do, I would recommend skimping on the wine because the funeral flowers I bought were nice but all they had available cost an arm and a leg!

I received a stunning arrangement that was even better than the photo. Jim dealt diplomatically with the person who ordered the arrangement for me who is impossible to please. I will consider Dave’s Flower Box for my floral needs in the future.

My father and I were planning my mom’s funeral, and the last detail to be handled were the flowers. Before going to Dave’s, we’d visited a florist in our neighborhood whose name we got from our church. The «customer service» basically consisted of «Here’s the catalog, let me know when you’re ready» and she went off to chat with other staff members who were putting some flowers together (not to work or help them, just to shoot the breeze).
Being fairly clueless about such things (my wife doesn’t like flowers, so I’ve never developed any expertise at all about them) and having not planned a funeral before, we quickly realized we were in over our heads. We told them we’d have to confer with family members about what to get and would be back. I called my brothers wife and got some general guidance, then we called our funeral director and asked him if he could recommend a florist. He said they work with Dave’s regularly and they’re good, so we headed over there.
They are indeed good. The service was outstanding, they went through the cataloc with us, informed us about substitutions and additions we can make to the arrangements, and where the other florist had pretty much said we couldn’t get tulips (my mom’s favorite) this time of year, Dave’s said «No problem. What color would you like?» She’ll have her favorite flowers in the casket, as well as added to the large bouqets for decorating the church. We called our church secretary the next day andt suggested they scratch that other florist off the list and replace them with Dave’s.
Their pricing is in line with other florists. Large arrangements aren’t cheap, but they aren’t gouging or anything, so I put the price as Moderate.
Everyone at Dave’s was very knowledgeable, very sympathetic, and just great professionals. If you need flowers, who ya gonna call? Dave’s!

These guys have delivered great results in the past, although I had a delivery issue. It really wasn’t their fault (another party); however, my review is directed to the manager I spoke with over the phone.
I was inquiring about time of events, due to my delivery issue. Anyway, the manger was immensely rude to me, despite I told him they usually do great work and the delivery issue was not their fault. He seemed to bark at me for no apparent reason.
I can’t recommend Dave’s Flower Box and I don’t believe I’ll be returning.

I woke up from a nap in the Lafayette Hotel. I yawned, stretched out, looked at my phone, saw a text with a photo from my beautiful dinner date for the evening in her prom dress, and popped up immediately. Figure of speech. Not one of my body parts. Please get your mind out of the gutter.
I had a prom themed pub crawl later that evening and I had less than two hours to be presentable for the dinner portion of it. Normally, this would not be an issue even with the amount of time it takes to style my hair. But still I needed a corsage for his date, and I was running out of time. But I felt I could still do it.
Mission accepted!
I used my trusty Unilocal app to look up flower shops in the North Park area of San Diego. I put on my running shoes and darted out my hotel room. I must have looked like a fugitive on the run to people in the lobby. I didn’t have my shirt on. I ran back into my room and covered my body that is protected by layers created with beer, fatty foods, and general apathy for my health and well being.
As I was on vacation, I didn’t have a car. But I was ready to run miles for my beautiful prom date. I had Survivor’s «Final Countown» playing on my iPhone. I was juiced. I could do this. I could run for miles and miles. Approximately 17 seconds later, I had arrived at Dave’s Flower Box. It just happened to be across the street.
Even if it was 17 seconds of physical exertion, I was still winded. Sort of like my virginity.
Anyway, even though I was gasping for air, I took some time to smell the beautiful aroma of flowers. The sweet lady behind the counter asked me what I might be looking for. I told her I needed a beautiful corsage for prom. She looked at me funny. Then I realized I had a full beard and looked old enough to be the father of a girl going to prom. Creeper status.
I assuaged her concerns and let her know that it was a prom themed pub crawl with my other adult friends, real and imaginary.
After several questions from the sweet and helpful lady, I decided on a two white rose corsage because it would bring out my beautiful date’s new spray tan. Some say that North Park is like the Jersey Shore. And well, the first rule of the North Park is that you don’t fall in love at the North Park.
The ladies took their time the corsage, and it turned out beautiful. And the price was under $ 20. Perfect for a pimply faced teenager on a budget, and a pimply faced «man» with gray hair in his beard on a budget. I’m still going through puberty, but becoming old at the same time. Weird.
I still ended up being late because I broke two hotel blow dryers. Damn hair.
But in the end, my beautiful prom date forgave me once I put it on her. The corsage, that is.

Whenever there is a need to purchase flowers i always go to Dave’s Flower Box first. There are many places between Santee where i live and Northpark Where this florist is, but i continue to go to this place EVERYTIME. their flowers are always fresh and they make the best arrangements of the most random groups of flowers that i could not even name if i tried. I person don’t purchase flowers as frequently as some do but i keep a very bias opinion about this place because they have always treated me very well and i respect the fact that they have been around since i was probably a baby. Thank you Dave for starting such a great florist, and thank you staff for keeping it alive and well.

My husband of 32 years does not buy flowers often. Because I wouldn’t give him a clue for a birthday present, he went to Dave’s and created his own floral arrangement to be delivered (on a Sunday!!) The arrangement was delivered early, and it was beautiful. But what is most amazing is… one week later the arrangement is even more beautiful! The roses and lilies have all opened and are still standing tall. I do not know what he paid so I cannot comment on cost — but quality? Great!

I have no experience with buying flowers, but I was having a crappy day and decided to get some to brighten up my house. I walked in expecting flowers to be exploding out of every corner of the shop, but sadly there was only one fridge of flowers on the left-​hand side of the store. There definitely wasn’t much to look at, but I settled on a bouquet of white tulips and a combination bouquet of carnations, sunflowers, daisies, etc. The price for both ran just under 30 dollars, which was pretty steep (in my opinion, especially because there were only 10 tulips in the bunch).
The lady who helped me was extremely nice and attentive, but the other 2 women at the front desk ignored me completely and didn’t even look up while I was paying for the flowers.
And maybe I’m hallucinating, or maybe today just royally sucks, but the flowers are already looking like they’re dying. And it’s been 3 hours.

My fiancé and I are all for supporting small businesses. My fiancé had ordered me some a floral arrangement that was delivered to my place of work, they were absolutely gorgeous and you could smell them from the hall way even with the door closed.
On the 3^rd he went back to them to get me a gorgeous floral arrangement for Valentine’s day (today). Well they were never delivered, instead I received a voicemail from Kathy that they had a delivery for me but didn’t make it on time to call them back.
Then they gave my Fiancé the run around, and even told him that the flowers were delivered.
They ruined my Valentine’s day gift & surprise, Never again n and to think I was going to use them for our wedding, they just missed out on our business.
