History

Established in 1988.

Located in the middle peninsula traingle near Sea World, Mission Bay & Sail Bay lies Crown Point Coffee, the favorite coffee shop for area locals & newcomers alike. Owner Summer Abu-Zahrah took over the business in 2009 & has completley remodeled the interior as well as expanded & upgraded the the 2 patios where patrons love to gather, many with their dogs & take advantage of the free wifi. The menu has grown significantly to include more breakfast & lunch items, necessitating longer operating hours. On any given day, a steady line of customers extends out the door during peak hours, but the well trained baristas work fast, know most patrons by name & have their orders ready before they even get in the door.

Meet the Business Owner

Summer A.

Business Owner

Summer started her career as a barista when she first moved to San Diego from Michigan in January ’04. Don Yoon was the owner of Crown Point Coffee for over 10 years & gave Summer her first job upon moving here. «Don taught me everything I know about coffee, but most importantly, about our customers & how to treat them. Make everything with love was Don’s motto.» Most San Diegans are unfortunatley familiar with the tragedy that befell Don Yoon in ’08 when the fighter jet crashed into his home and took his family. Summer had grown to love the coffee shop as if it were her own during the 4 years of working there & beacuse of her passion, Don sold the shop to her after the tragedy. Summer’s brother was taken after a motorcycle accident 6 months prior to this tragedy. These 2 tradgedies spawned an even stronger drive & passion in Summer to make the business she loved succeed & set the path for the legacy of her brother & friend. «Live each day to the fullest & be happy!» says Summer.
