I have a broken torsion spring. I called and they quoted me $ 220 to change both. First guy showed up and realized door was extra tall 9 feet. I explained that I had told the person on the phone (Josh) 3 times that it was a 9 foot, unfilled, steel roll up door with one spring broke and that I wanted to replace both.
The next guy showed up and told me that I had a 9 foot door. He didn’t believe that I had told the rep in the phone so he called the boss (Trevor), who listened to the recorded conversation. The confirmed that he was told that it was indeed a 9 foot hollow steel roll up door. He then told me that Josh made a mistake when he quoted me the $ 220 price and they could not do the job at that price. When I asked him how much they wanted to charge he said $ 400.
He told me the price of the springs alone was more than what I was quoted.
I went on line and priced the spring, 40 inch 2.5 inch diameter and .25 gauge steel at at a cost of $ 58/​spring.
Horrible company!!!

After spent $ 1023.99 on a brand new Liftmaster belt drive in ⁵⁄₁₅ now the door intermittent doesn’t close, checked both sensors to make sure its clear, the door works most of time but some time goes down half way then goes back up, error code 4 – 6. Got home from work on 8÷31÷15 I notice my garage door was open? So I call 1−877−469−1416 to have someone come out to check my garage door. I was told by customer service that $ 89.00 for the service call, its state in the invoice?. after spent $ 1023.00 3 months ago now I have to pay another $ 89.00 for someone mistake or part failures REALLY? Will not recommend this company to anyone.

I called because my garage door opener was making a clicking noise. I was told the service call would be $ 89 but there was a coupon to reduce it to $ 39. The technician arrived as arranged and operated the door to listen to the clicking. He quoted a price based on a couple of possibilities depending on what he found when he got into the job. I thanked him and told him I’d pay the $ 39 service fee and get another estimate. He called the office and they reduced the price by $ 200. I OK’ed the work. The technician was here approximately 40 minutes to spray the tracks and joints and make an adjustment to the «leveling»… First I was told the motor was working too hard and may require replacemnt…$ 561.00. Then he told me it most likely the track. He didn’t carry those (it’s a Liftmaster product) and would have to be ordered…$ 400.00 or so. Finally he said that if the noise didin’t bother me and that if it were him he would just continue to use it until it stops working. I was charged $ 189.99 for approximately 40 minutes of work and my door still clicks just like it did when all of this started. One final note… he said that if the motor went out they would replace it for $ 521. That’s not going to happen.

I had a coupon from Valpak for a lube and tune special. I was told someone would be out in the morning, but they didn’t show up till around 1 o’clock. The technician tried to upsell me for various things he said were wrong with my garage door and it was dangerous. I told him I only wanted the lube and tune. He pulled out a can of spray and sprayed the roller and that is the service I received. When I refused to sign his inspection receipt he left in a huff.

Horrible customer service. They deserve negative stars. I’ll be reporting to the Better Business Bureau. My elderly mother called to get an estimate on their garage door that needed a simple repair. TIM showed up to their 55+ senior community and was extremely pushy and tried to intimidate her into paying $ 800 for a simple repair. He became agitated when she was unsure of the high quotation and began insulting my mother and the home. He was so aggressive a neighbor from across the street came over to help. At that point he was paid the quotation fee and asked to leave the property. He sped off in his truck, which he parked diagonally on the street flipping off the 2 women. I wouldn’t be surprised if this man was on drugs. ZACK was very unhelpful on the phone. My mother is still shaken.

SLIMEY BAIT AND SWITCHERS. Called to ask how much to service my garage door. It needed to be balanced, lubed, and springs tightened (assume balancing includes that). Guy on the phone said $ 189, including service fee, but if I went on line and printed out a coupon, I would get $ 75 service fee knocked off. Guy showed up, kind of surly, not a fun guy, we went over the work. Balance, lube, springs. He said $ 189. I mentioned the $ 75 coupon. He said he included that in his $ 189 quote. I excused myself, went to my computer, saw the coupon and called the home office. First guy says it costs only $ 79 for «lube and tune.» I said the guy out in my garage says $ 189. Now they were caught. Phone guy asks what service again; I tell him. «Oh, he’s going to tighten the springs? Well, that is more.» I asked how you «tune» and «balance» without tightening the springs. Nothing. He fumbles, then says its $ 129. Ok, I said, I return to the garage with the phone, tell the tech the story, he is pissed that I called the office. He gets upset with me, I hand him the phone. Then he hands it back with the owner on the line. He sounds drunk, somewhat stuttering, could hardly understand him, loud, brash, starting to accused me as «one of those guys whose always trying to skim a few bucks.» Excuse me? I said I only want to be charged what the phone guy originally told me. «Ok, ok. geez. I’ll go to $ 169, no less.» I mention the $ 75 coupon. «Oh, that’s for the service call, but not the service itself.» Huh? I felt like I was at the swap meet. I try again, «He said $ 129 with the springs, which is still $ 50 more than he originally told me.» «Yeah, well, he’s still in training.» Bullshit I said. «Ok, ok, $ 159, as low as I can go. Won’t make any money on this,» owner says. Guy had been there maybe 20 minutes to perform and complete the work. I agree. I’m pissed, tech guy is pissed, owner is pissed. Miserable experience. Exactly what I try to stay away from. Lesson: clarify, confirm, reaffirm, reclarify all work, all terms, and then, as soon as the actual work performer gets there, reconfirm, reclarify everything you and phone guy discussed and agreed to. Believe me, I went toe to toe and they were not gentle or gentlemen. Bad mojo with these hacks. Can’t imagine all the people they have ripped off.

I had a groupon for a garage door tune up. The technician was really good. Went over what he would be doing and I left him to his work. The technician lubed everything that needed lubing and the door was quieter when opening and closing. He did tell me that the grease would drip and to keep the car outside for a few hours. Great experience for me.

If I could give this company any LESS of a rating, I would! Absolutely horrible customer service. I was in need of a new garage door, and after receiving a flying in the mail, I called for their same day service. A technician was sent to my home and I was advised that they were unable to do a same-​day service. They offered $ 100 off if I was willing to agree to a later service day, which I did agreed to. They charged my credit card and scheduled me for a weekend date with an apt time of 8−12pm. Well day of the service and 12pm came and went with out a heads up phone call. I had called at 1030am for an ETA and was not called back. I called again at 12pm and was told the technician was 40 minutes away. Moments later, I received a call and was informed that the supervisor went on a trip to Vegas and failed for fulfill any service request. I would have to wait until Monday for my issue to be addressed. I had already paid $ 850 a week prior for the garage door! Now I’m going to have to wait even longer?! And how long will it take to reimburse my money? HORRIBLE and an upsetting situation. The sales rep I dealt with was Howard.

SHYSTERS — Stay as far away as possible. They quoted us $ 30 + parts ($ 60 coupon) over the phone and when the guy got here it went to $ 350 (no new parts required) and when I told him about the coupon he said that was just for the service call if we decided not to get the work done. It was a late Saturday night and car was stuck in garage and the door would not close all the way and I did not feel safe with it like this so I decided to do the work which took 1 hour. I don’t know if this is normal charge for a garage door but it seems very expensive. They also tried to sell us new springs which started off at an additional $ 450 but the price kept coming down when we kept saying no. The final price of the springs (2) was $ 250 and I still said no because I felt totally ripped off and felt like I needed to take a shower after being slimed by these guys.

They advertise free estimates but then when they showed up guy wanted 119.00 to take screw out to look at garage opener, so I notice everyday the message above there web page says free service call and it will have the actually date you are looking at it. Beware of this company they seem like SCAM ARTIST!!!

We called San Diego’s Choice Overhead Garage Door and were directed to what seemed to be a call center where they dispatch people in your area to do the job. They would not give an estimate over the phone but said that the technician will diagnose and give an estimate when he sees the problem.
Two courteous guys from GDS (Garage Door Service Co.) came to our house at the appointed time. They took a look at the broken garage door — main problem was a broken overhead torsion spring. The estimate we were quoted was $ 350 to replace the single spring. He suggested we install 2 springs, which would be around $ 500. He noted some other parts were worn and suggested they be replaced as well. The way it worked out, his final price with a single spring was not that much cheaper than installing the 2 springs… and with the 2 springs they offer a lifetime warranty. so we went with that. total cost $ 580.
In the end, we were literally a «captive» audience. our car was trapped in the garage and we could not open the door without a repair. I don’t know if this was the cheapest option, but with our time constraints and the fact that we needed the car, we didn’t have much choice. The guys from GDS did a timely repair, did a little maintenance on the garage door parts, and they were very friendly.

When I went to go to work, I tried to open my door and the rollers and cables came off. The first company I called was GDS. They said they would have a technician out within the hour. We live in east Chula Vista and we didn’t expect anyone to be out here in less than two hours. To our surprise a technician showed up half an hour after we booked the appointment. The technician they sent was Dana, he quickly diagnosed our door, and suggested we replace springs, cables, rollers and drums. After answering all our questions and explaining the benefits of having this work done and the lifetime warranties that come with it we allowed him to do the work, he completed the job in a timely manner, our door is quieter than when we had it installed. I would definitely recommend this to my family, friends and neighbors.

The guy that came out to give us a quote and talk about options was great. He was helpful with his suggestions and told us all the benefits of each of our options. We decided on a thicker door to keep out the elements a bit better since our laundry room is in our garage. We scheduled a day that I could be home for the install and put down a deposit.
The next day I got a call saying the door we wanted was out of stock and would be (a week, 2 … I don’t remember) longer than I wanted to wait to get everything installed. I tried asking for other options to stay on schedule. But the guy that I talked to over the phone couldn’t (understand what I wanted, didn’t know how to change the order, didn’t have anything in stock) so I just had the motor installed on the day I set up because that was the only thing they had available at the time.
