History

Established in 2005.

In 2014, Carini Heating and Air Conditioning will be celebrating its 9th year serving San Diego home and business owners with craftsman-​like quality, honest and affordable pricing and a strong focus on customer service before and after installation or service calls. The company was founded by Gabriel Carini, after honing his skills in HVAC installation, service and sales with other San Diego contractors. Carini has experience with all major furnace and air conditioning brands, from Carrier, Lennox, Trane, York and Bryant, and has focused on Rheem as its primary product line. The company is a Rheem Top Contractor and earned the distinction of Contractor of the Year for San Diego County in 2013 from Rheem’s distributor Heating and Cooling, a division of Gemaire Corporation.

This is the second time we’ve used Carini Air, and I would recommend them to anyone needing quality service. Nick and Javier were the installers for our new A/​C system — they were professional, courteous, knowledgeable, clean, and respectful. I could not have asked for a better team. (I say give those two a raise!!) Kurt was our sales rep, very helpful in selecting the best unit for our home, quoted us a really good price, and was onsite for installation.

The owner, Gabriel Carini, worked with us personally and explained clearly and in detail all of our options. He gave us multiple quotes for different options. His crew, headed by Tim, was professional and courteous and hard working. I am very satisfied with the installation of a new heater/​AC system, including new duct work, in our 1950 home.

Professional and through! Anthony D. arrived either a bit early or right on time. He identified the problem we were having with our AC unit and gave us our options for repair. After he received the part we were going to need to replace he came back and did a great job. Cleaned up after himself and now we have a working AC.

After being given a bogus repair quote by a different company, I picked Carini Heating based on the stellar reviews and was not disappointed. Anthony D was prompt and extremely competent in repairing our heater. I appreciated that he made every attempt to work quietly so as to not wake up my sleeping children. The price was very reasonable and I’d definitely use them again for future issues.

In our quest to get a much cooler/​less humid space for our new fluffy pup before the hot humid days come in the summer/​fall, we decided to get one of our estimates on mini-​splits from Carini. They had many stellar reviews on Unilocal.
Bowen arrived promptly and wore shoe covers to keep our house clean. He was quite friendly. No measurements were taken.
Bowen had a few suggestions:
— a Rain Barrel on the porch to catch the condensation from the AC usage (completely love this idea) rather than put it into the washer drain and
— to look into the HERO program to see if we qualify as a way to pay for the system. Now that I have looked into it a little, the terms of that program concern me.
We were to expect the quotes in the next day or two. Note: We had asked him if he could give an estimate on what he suggested we would need and, if possible, estimate on something around the size (if his was not the same) of a suggestion from another company so we could compare the companies fairly. (We did not receive one in those initial estimates.)
A few days later we received our quotes.
Looking over the suggestions on the estimates he sent us, we were left scratching our heads in complete confusion.
The estimates that we received (sizes of units per room as well as the outdoor unit) are way different than what I had thought Bowen had suggested when he was here.
I wondered if it was even for our house.
There is no way to do a fair comparison to the previous companies estimates even though they were the same brand (Fujitsu) of mini-​splits. We emailed him back, again requesting a quote on the specific sizes for comparison. It took several days for a reply, but now we have a quote to compare with the rest of the companies we have scheduled for estimates.
Good to know: On the quote sent, it lists that this price will expire a month after it was made. They have a guy who patches up the drywall (I think it is included in the price.)
Now we have even more questions for all the estimators on what sizes are needed for our teeny place (and why) and will definitely be pursuing more estimates from other companies recommended by friends and Unilocal.
I give a few stars for the suggestions, showing up on time and shoe covers, but the confusing estimate and the bad follow-​up took a few off.

I recently had an estimate completed for a mini-​split system for my home. I had researched the mini-​split system but did not really know much about how they are installed or work
During the estimate/​sales pitch, I didn’t learn much about the mini-​split system. I did learn about the estimators family past and present.
When the estimate arrived by email it was close to $ 20,000.
It was an unsettling freaky experience.
I received a phone call after my review asking me to remove my review because it would damage their reputation… from a man named Doug, so I removed my remarks because I felt uncomfortable with the phone call. Now I have a response from the owner as if the former had not taken place and all was kosher???

I called Carini for an AC inspection and tune up. Anthony was very pleasant, thorough, and professional. He found that the blower motor was leaking oil and could have told me that it needed to be replaced immediately. Instead he just alerted me to the problem and let me know what it would cost to replace it. I’ve heard that other companies charge less for an inspection but then always find something wrong because the technicians work on commission! This seems like a totally unethical arrangement, and i am very glad that Carini doesn’t do this.
My AC needed a new filter and it was not a standard size. Anthony was very kind and came back with it another day and replaced it. I would definitely use Carini again.

First of all, can we please adopt Anthony D? Or could someone clone him — what a world it would be if everytime we had a problem with our house we could call Anthony D.!! First of all, he was extremely professional and very thorough — completely explaining how certain elements of our furnace work (now we know!!) He had called earlier to let us know exactly when he would be arriving (how often does that happen?) and he was very respectful of our time and property. In a word, Anthony D. was terrific! We’ll be requesting him for our spring AC tune up and ANY future furnace inspections. Carini has certainly earned their stellar reputation! (Please note — even though Unilocal says I’m from Chicago, I spend my winters in San Diego!)

We called Carini on relatively short notice when our older model gas furnace wasn’t working properly following a remodel. The technician who showed up, Anthony D., could not have been more helpful. He was able to identify the problem very quickly, and when he didn’t have the right part on hand, he acquired it and stopped by again at the end of his workday to finish the repair. He made himself available to answer any questions we had, and endured that we knew what the problem was, how the repair worked, and how to operate our heater going forward.
We couldn’t be happier, and we will use them again.

Anthony is the very best, upmost professional who you can actually trust. He explains everything and won’t try to sell you what you don’t need. He is very efficient and has fixed both my air conditioning system and my heater. He is also just a very nice guy. With my AC problem, I had 3 companies come out and tell me I needed a brand new HVAC system because mine was 20 years old and beyond repair. Then Anthony assessed it and fixed it perfectly at a minor cost, saying it still has more years to go. Don’t trust your HVAC to anyone else.

I contacted Carini for a quote to replace an existing wall heater based on their Unilocal reviews and the recommendation of a coworker. The estimator came to my home a week ago and said he would send me an estimate that night. The estimator spent most of the time trying to upsell me on a whole house heater. He said he would give us quotes for both systems. I still do not have an itemized quote to replace the wall heater. After one email to the estimator and a phone call four days later to the office I received an estimate for the whole house heater, but not one for the wall heater. I emailed the estimator the same day I received the whole house heater estimate asking for an estimate for the work that I actually requested and I have not heard anything. This has been a very frustrating experience and based on the other Unilocal reviews, I was not expecting this type of customer service.

After moving into our home, we were in desperate need of a new HVAC system. We found Carini at the home show in Del Mar. We met Will and he was awesome. Will came over a few days after the home show and he built us a system that would save us money in the long run. We wanted a ductless AC system and a split system that ran independently. We only wanted to cool the areas in our home that needed cooling. If our kids weren’t home, it would only cool the living room, then only the master bedroom. I wanted a variable system that was quiet and saved money. Will made it happen by bidding us a system made by Fujitsu. The price was affordable and Thousands of dollars less than all the other bids we obtained for a standard HVAC system. WE highly recommend Carini Air conditioning. See pics we posted.

Carini was able to come out on short notice during a heat wave — sending a technician (Anthony) in the late afternoon next day (under 24 hours from when I called) to identify a problem that was causing a leak through my ceiling.
Anthony came out on time, identified the issues and explained them to me and my wife in detail. He was able to provide multiple alternatives ranging from simply fixing the immediate problem causing the leak, to a more comprehensive repair job to prevent future similar problems from occurring. I was confident that this was not an «upsell» situation as the HVAC unit in question had previously been identified by trusted third parties as having been improperly installed by a different HVAC company (hired by the home’s prior owner).
Anthony was prepared to implement the repairs of any of the options immediately (i.e., even though it was already 5p.m. I didn’t get a «well I need to order this part and come back in two days», explanation that I’m used to hearing from contractors), and he was willing to stay until the job was done. He finished his work quickly, and it seems properly. I arrived home from work just as he was finishing up and he took significant additional time to show me all the work, explain in detail why each step was important, and then he spent additional time helping me review other HVAC issues and questions unrelated to the immediate job.
All in all I was extremely happy with their work, professionalism and responsiveness; and they will be my first call in the future for issues.
I would give 5 stars except that I got the impression that, despite their prices seeming fair, they did seem a bit on the higher side; but I am a believer that you often get what you pay for, and again their prices were not unreasonable and they were willing to work with me on that.

Amazing customer service!
We hired Carini in 2011 to replace the ducting in our home and install a new HVAC unit. They were priced competitively, giving us «good, better, best» options. I really like knowing that I have options, as well as the pros and cons of each option. The installation went according to plan and the system worked very well. Fast forward to two weeks ago when our system wouldn’t cool the house to the temperature we wanted. The unit would click on in the house, the cold air would start blowing, and then after a minute or two it would shut off. So my house stayed at 84 degrees with the A/​C flipping on for 2 minutes at a time. I called at 4:59pm on a Wednesday evening and they answered the phone! Doug in the office is a pleasure to speak with. It is the busy season, however I was very lucky to get an appointment the following day. When the technician came out, Anthony, he spent 2.5 hours diagnosing the problem, most of that time he was sitting under our house waiting for the problem to recur, trying a solution, waiting again, etc. He was extremely thorough, explaining everything to us, and made sure to cover all the bases. In addition to fixing the cause of the problem, he also showed us how to better maintain our HVAC unit. Anthony was polite, respectful and even put shoe covers on when he came in our home.
We have referred many friends to Carini Heating and Air, and they have come back thanking us for the referral. Gabriel and his team do outstanding work the right way, the first time.

Called Carini when my air conditioning was slow to work. I got lucky that they had a cancel and were able to come within two days (it’s busy season and I was so happy it wasn’t going to be weeks to get an appointment!) Anthony arrived early and was very polite and professional. Turns out my problem was very minor and Anthony had it fixed in about an hour! Great service!

A quick diagnostic check determined that my heat pump with a minimum of 34 amps required had a 30 amp disconnect and a 30 amp breaker! No wonder it didn’t work! The wiring was shoddy too! I think this «quieter homes» home was done on the cheap! Carini made it right in about an hour! Thanks Anthony!!!
