Buggy Bath Self-Service Wash

I have used this place multiple times and for a self service place it is a pretty good one. Never had problems with the equipment or anything but the last two times I have came I have inserted my card like I always do and went through the steps and cleaned my car. I turn the dial to stop and push the stop button to end my session. Today my total was $ 9.75 was what it stated. I just went online to check my account and it says I was charged $ 14.75, how is there a $ 5 difference? I could see the excuse of a charge for using a card, but there was no sign or indication that there would be one at the terminal. I let it go the first time I got the $ 5 difference on my bank account but this is rediculous. I will not be going there to wash my car again, I would rather go have someone wash it and not feel cheated.

I came in for a car wash and I’d been putting off, or been unable to, wash my car for almost two months. It was filthy! haha
I liked that this location was self serve and that it took debit cards. I like that I’m not constantly looking over at the clock to see when my time will be up, and that I don’t pay TOO much and end up getting too much time and waiting for the clock to run out.
However, I don’t like that they don’t have the hard bristle rim scrubbers here, just the foam brush.
I like to use the hard bristle brush for rims as those are the dirtiest parts of my car and hard to get dirt and grime off them. Especially after it’s been sitting for a while.
However, everything else was working properly.
I didn’t check the vacuums that are located closest to the street, right before you enter the wash station so I’m not sure about those, but the ones in the back don’t take card, just coins.
Overall, a good place to wash the car, i’ll just have to bring my own brush for the rims next time.

Prices are fair. They maintain their equipment will. You can use credit card or cash. There are 4 car wash areas and 8 vacuums

I have been coming to this car wash for quite some time and really enjoyed the ease of it today was rather busy and there was a few car line wait somebody decided to pull in and back straight into the available spot where I was about to finish vacuuming he jumped out real quick said I’ll be two seconds ran over to the car detailing area and someone came over and inserted their employee card as he started to clean his car I did feel this was appropriate due to how busy it was in the amount of people that were patiently waiting their actual turn I don’t think I’ll be returning back anytime soon

This car wash is great. Is always very clean all machines always working and if you call the phone number you will get prompt service if you have any issues. If you use your card on the machine it will show on your credit card as a $ 14.75 charge until the transaction is complete. I called concerned about the $ 14.75 charge on my card and realized that that is the amount that shows until the transaction is complete… otherwise this car wash is great and the customer service is excellent!

Ok so pretty much I’m the only one that would buy a car wash yesterday just because it was raining earlier in the week and my car had a bunch a dirt on it. Especially because it is white it looked HORRIBLE!!! I love the cheap price that’s what brings me back

The water and soap functions work fine. The air dryer is underwhelming. I’m reluctant to put the device directly on my car, though that’s what the instructions seem to indicate. Also, the plastic attachment kept coming off, so I was left with the hose blowing uncontrollably.

2014 and this place is better than ever!
Recent –last 3 years– «new management» (linda? lisa?) is outstanding. Just see 2013 reviews and responsiveness compared to the dissatisfaction in 2009 (previous managers.)
I’ve been using the place at least that long just bc its close and cheap. But I wasnt happy then.
NOW, however, let me tell you!
–First off, its cleaner. Trash doesn’t overflow. There isn’t junk junk in the bays.
–I haven’t run out of soap in a year.
–There are more options for paying, and all machines are functional.
–Machines and timers are readable. Hopefully this makes up for no staff on site.
–People (customers) are even better, its rare that you’ll have to confront a «bay hog» who refuses to move out to hand dry their car when they are finished spraying ;)
–THE SERVICE! Owner (new manager) picks up the phone, is super nice and helpful, and able to offer refunds when I misunderstand/​misuse the «credit card» system (of course, I have the card and can provide the date of my error.)
–Additionally, they have a website which offers a bunch of options I would never expect from a self serve.
My only gripe: the detail vendor in back. He takes up parking/​drying /​vacuum space that should be accessible to paying customers. There is no reason he should bogart the «bay» next to the vacuum that HE ISN’T USING.

This is a self-​service wash place, like it says in the title. And the owner (I’m assuming it’s the owner who I met) is SO NICE! I asked her for advice on how best to remove pollen from my car, and not only did she offer advice, but she came by later to see how well it was working, gave me extra wash time (since it wasn’t working too well so far), and even spent a good amount of time helping me scrub my car with her own wash towel. She used some of her own solvent on some sap that was on my car, then got the detail guy to come over and show me the stuff he uses, giving me advice on where to get my own. The machines take credit cards, and the soap even comes out in fun rainbow colors. Best car wash experience I’ve ever had in San Diego.
Someone else mentioned that they didn’t have a spot-​free rinse option a couple of years ago… they do have spot-​free rinse now.

Went back to this wash after writing a review about the birds lodging above the stalls and the rack they had made their home was removed. Excellent management here! Because I have never seen such customer service from a self serve car wash, this place has earned a 5 star rating from me!

What a great car wash! The owner was so thoughtful and accommodating during an Ehlers-​Danlos fundraiser car wash event that I had the opportunity to help out with. I would recommend this location based on the kindness of the owner as well as it being a great place to clean up your car.

Why spend over $ 10.00 on getting you car wash somewhere & then have to tip? Sometimes you just can’t afford it– So, come to Buggy Bath! (if you’re living in the Linda Vista area). I love this place, when I’m not at my other carwash I come here to do my own self service! Theres a vaccum post that will cost you 1.00 for a few minutes and it also provide a scent for the car after you’re done; I like the «NEW CAR» scent lol. After you’re done, drive up a little bit more & there you’ll be able to wash your car for 2.00 and the time on that is pretty limited as well.
Theres a coin/​bill changer but it’ll give you back the «Buggy Bath» coin which is worth a dollar. Shortly after washing your car– once again you drive up a little bit more & theres an area to dry your car, theres often people there that will «want to assist» in helping you dry, windex, and clean your car– pay no attention unless you really want the help & will tip!
Overall, its a great location, kept pretty clean, and its SELF-​SERVICE you can’t really complain about the outcome of your vehicle if you’re the one washing it. =]

This place sucks! I have used tons of self service car washes and this one is the crappiest of all.
I generally like self service car washes, as you can normally do a decent job for about 5 bucks if your car looks like crap. The first time I came here, I figured it would be like other car washes and I would be able to spray off all the dust and crap from my car, brush it a bit, and do some spot free rinsing. To my surprise, I noticed that many of the options which are necessary for washing, do not work. This includes but is not limited to rinsing, and spot free rinsing. What a joke. I have gone two other times, and every time I go the knobs only work on certain settings. One time even the foam brush was not working.
I wish there was someone to complain to and get some money back. For 3 more dollars I could get a real carwash elsewhere, not do any of the work, and have the car look spotless.

This place is just terrible. I went with my friend to go check it out, and we had a horrible experience. There are no human beings around, so everything is just machine interaction. We tried to get change from the machine for $ 5, but it ended up eating our bill. Since there’s no one to complain to, I called the support number on the machine and left a message, which to this day no one has returned back. Also, the credit card option on the machine did not work.
I walked over to the liquor store around the corner to change some bills to finish the wash. The hose is really powerful, so if you’re looking to rinse, it’s not a bad idea for $ 2 I guess, especially if you’re living in an apartment or something where you don’t have access to a hose. Anyway, the soaping brush just puts out a lot of foam. The bristles on the brush are abrasive to your car’s clear coat paint, so I wouldn’t recommend coming here unless you have an old car or something. The air dry is just compressed air, so it’s not really effective. I did not get a chance to vacuum, so I have no idea how that is.
All in all, I paid $ 9.25 (since it ate our $ 5 bill) and the car wasn’t even clean. On top of that, there was no one to complain to, and that’s a huge drawback if you’re gonna spend money. I feel like this car wash is a scam, so I won’t be coming back and I won’t be recommending it.

Minimum 2.00 $ for 4min. High Pressure Rinse, Foam Soap, Engine/​tire Low Pressure Wash, Pre Soak, and … Soap Rinse; I think are the options to choose from.
The Foam Soap option doles out a LOT of pink soap so prepare to get a lil messy. Unfortunately the brush wasn’t stiff enough to really scrub off stuck on dirt and the wash doesn’t «allow» for hand scrubbing. I put in quotations because I went there on a slow day and hand scrubbed my tires and bucket washed (like the sign says not to) parts of my car. No one complained.
You drive into a slot from the street: Vacuum the inside, pull up a lil further and wash the outside, then pull up into a parking space in the sun to hand dry your car if you want.
Spent about 6 $ washing and rewashing my car, because it had been 3yrs since it saw soap). But for the most part you can probably spend 4 $ on soap and rinse, and 1 $ on a vacuum.
Saw a corvette and another ritsy sport car pull up and out, so it’s obviously good enough for the car prom queens.
Take a left onto Comstock from Linda Vista and the wash is right there on your left. Go on a decently warm day if you’re not going to try and stay dry because it’s VERY cold in the water in shade of the car port.

Not bad. Weird neighborhood with plenty of terrible driving. In fact, as I was leaving the car wash, I saw this old lady who had T-​boned another car in her huge Cadillac land-​barge. Anyway, I think there are four stalls. Two bucks starts the machine and gets you three minutes. Each additional dollar buys you another two minutes. They’ve got the usual rinse, wax, engine cleaner, plus the amazing foaming brush! It was really windy the day I went, so it was kind of comical spraying my car and watching people on the sidewalk a good twenty feet away dodging the water vapor mist. Sorry folks, yes it is a carwash. Step lively.
I didn’t do the vacuum, so I don’t know what’s up with that. My main complaint was the fact that the change machine doesn’t give you quarters — you get tokens. I was hoping to get some extra quarters to do laundry later. Instead now I’ve got this big-​ass dollar token which is only good at this self-​serve car wash. So, I guess I have to go back. Whatever.

Not a the greatest place but a decent place to wash your car. I don’t trust anyone else to clean my truck so I go here. It’s not too far from my place and not very pricey. You can clean your car for around $ 5 which isn’t too bad.

Ok first off i can’t help but love the name! I was searching for do it yourself car washes close to campus and stumbled upon this interesting little place. Its not too far down Linda Vista and relatively cheap compared to someone else doing the washing for you. I’ve never had to wait to wash my car as it has three separate car ports and three waiting areas in line with each port.
I never trust another person to wash my car, but i take way too much pride in my car as well. If you trust yourself to get the job done right then this place is great, just make sure you pick a port without a lot of mud, sticks and leaves… i made that mistake once and ended up making my car dirtier than before! Don’t forget quarters and towels and have a blast!
