Society of Women Engineers San Diego County

The Society for Women Engineers has been active for 30 years and I found out just a couple of years ago about the San Diego county chapter, as my workplace was distributing some information and inviting everybody to attend one of the many speaking events and also the possibility of becoming member.
You don’t need to be member to participate in those, but being a member put many young out of college graduates in a start position and is a nice way of networking with other engineer women (or working in engineering companies no matter the role). It is also another way to get some job leads and be exposed to mentoring opportunities. Yesterday I attended one motivational speaking event organized by SWE and love it.
The speaker was a seasoned engineer and executive wearing multiple hats throughout her long career in very diverse companies. It was very inspirational and specially interesting for foreign students/​working people who start a working life in the US and do not know how to ‘sell themselves’ as is not a skill learned in many countries! Totally recommendable.
