I’m so confused on how this place doesn’t have 5 stars. Best Mexican food I’ve had in a long time. I had the surf and turf taco which was huge and full of flavor! My husband had the street tacos and those were amazing as well. Small and casual place but with great service. The guy working the counter was doing a great job and was very friendly. Parking is a little difficult but it’s like that everywhere in downtown San Diego so it’s to be expected. I highly recommend trying this place if you’re in the area.

Love this place! I was walking by and noticed how packed it was, so glad I stopped. Their slogan is fresh Mexican food, and they don’t disappoint. I am vegetarian and asked for a special order with vegetables and black beans in my tacos. I got one of the quick best meals I have had in a long time. Highly recommended!

If I could give this place 3 ½ stars, I would. They are not a bad place to eat, We love their Carne Asada fries! But I noticed something after a few visits. It seems like if you do not choose to give them a tip with your purchase, the wait for you to receive your food takes longer. I’ve tested my theory and a couple of times, and it seems to be true. I’m still going to go back though, I’ll just make sure that I will give myself enough time to spare. Lol Overall Good food A little expensive considering the smaller portions. Again Good food Wait time varies. Good food.

This place is bomb! Staff are Excellent. I frequent there for taco Tuesday and other days as well. The $ 1 tacos are yummy and worth it. The big rolled tacos are delish. Every now and then the rice isn’t the best. But I’m satisfied with their food. They are now online and participate in Eat24. Will visit again of course to get my fish and Pollo asada tacos. Ask about their daily specials.

Awesome place! The food is so good and the employees are so nice. Fresh ingredients, although prices can be high at times it is totally worth it. Also, they use quality ingredients, the tortilla and the meats they use are better quality than most taco shops in San Diego. Also, thief burritos are filled with actual meat rather than 90%pico de gallo.

Chicken rolled tacos are BLAND. The girl that took my order also completely forgot about it and I had to remind her after the 4 people that ordered after me were served. Go to Adalbertos on Market &26 for tasty Mexican food.

I had a much better experience the last time I was here. There was plenty of seating, and the cashier was friendly and waited on us. But the experience before will not be forgotten.

have got our orders wrong several times(I mean its not only been my items but on whole orders with my sisters and moms and even boyfriend) and instead of replacing it. they always ask for the already bitten food back, its kind of awkward. even had to bring tossed around tacos once and spilled on my seat. damn it I’m clumsy, after they jacked up the order. also, once there was such a rude cashier-server. I have came back anyway because its conveniently close. not the best customer service.

Some of my previous reviews have expressed a less than savory attempt to like the food produced by this place. Factor in the times when business is booming, supply of food, and the work left behind from the diligent workers, and a good burrito is made. I ordered a Downtown Burrito which consists of rice, refried beans, carne, and lots of queso stuffed inside a well portioned piece of tortilla, then wrapped delicately inside Albert’s signature paper. Red or Green sauce? No disrespect to Lolita’s my usual go to Mexican food joint for a burrito, but the size of Albert’s in comparison makes Lolita’s a bit more exorbitant to me. I suppose that size matters, I hate to admit that.

Ok, My take is … The Food: I normally get the«Big rolled tacos»(thats the gimmick here) They are normally good. Twice the size of a normal rolled taco! I normally get the ground beef ones and they are loaded with ground beef and loaded with cheese and real guac on top. They do good carne asada here so I normally get that in a burrito. If your feeling extra hungry get the«California burrito» its the classic carne and french fries. Fries and normally fairly crispy so its a good burrito. The Location: Hard to find, unless you go to city college or work at the housing commission or live in the are like i do. There will be people milling around outside. The restaurant inside is very nice and clean so it s more than safe to eat in. The Hours: Like a lot of downtown places the hours vary. Its supposed to be open 6 days a week until 8:00 and closed on Sunday, but often they close early. I always advise to just give a call to make sure its open — if open, place a togo order and just grab and go!

This place doesn’t even deserve 1 star. The two guys were cool who attended me, but let’s talk about the food… $ 5.25 for 3 nasty tacos. I can almost assure they were frozen then fried!

This place is great, combo #12 is my thing, the rolled tacos are huge and very stuffed, although when you’re reaching to the end they seem to be very greasy, staff is always very friendly, orders are given fast, sauces are very good too. I’ve brought in a couple of people to this place and many have become regulars now!!! Could get pretty busy at times, but again its right in front of city college and downtown is a busy place!!!

Been here twice both times were nothing special. First time I had one of the breakfast burritos can’t remember which one I feel it lacked some egg. Overall it tasted ok. Second time I ordered carne asada fries, the meat tasted old and pre cooked. Service wasn’t that great either. I don’t think I would recommend this place to anyone.

Good«go to» place when you’ve got the munchies. I know everyone’s got their own specialized Mexican food taste pallet, but this place is as decent as it gets. Service is quick and friendly. Just don’t cone when the two high schools and community college all get out. You’ll be in line for a while listening to boring conversation about life as a teenager in downtown San Diego.

«We’re out of tortilla soup.» — I have now heard this twice at Albert’s after stopping in for lunch. How is that possible? Who is the patron that is cleaning them out at breakfast? This place opens at 6:00AM(great hours) but if you’re out of tortilla soup by 11:00AM on two separate occasions, methinks you either have erroneous information on your menu or an abnormal population distribution of regulars that eat soup for breakfast. That’s OK, sometimes I’ve had salad for breakfast, so whatever frosts your cupcake. Even if you’re not hosting the daily meeting of SoupLoversforBreakfast Anonymous — forgive me if I’m wrong, but isn’t the whole point of SOUPKITCHENS that they serve nutritious meals at a low cost/high volume ratio? So let me ask you this, Albie: If the government has figured this out, why can’t you? Please either serve tortilla soup(consistently) or take it off your menu. I’d have the same gripe for ceviche, but considering we’re dealing with raw fish, I’m paradoxically pleased that you also haven’t had that on your menu on two separate occasions. The tortilla soup though? C’mon. You want to borrow my crockpot?

Conveniently located across the street from City College this place is a safe haven from the muck they serve in the cafeteria. I recommend the chilaquiles which are served all day. They only have two salsas– red and green, and that usually wouldn’t be enough for a salsa connoisseur like myself, but the red salsa is a great blend.

Very inconsistent hours. We were going to eat here before a Padre game. We called to confirm the location and then arrived about 10 minutes later after paying a meter for parking. We walk in and are told they are closed. Huh? People are inside eating, it is 4:30 p. m and the sign says they close at 8:00 p.m. I’m looking at her with a confused expression because I just called, nothing was mentioned about being closed, and it isn’t near 8:00 p.m. Then no explanation. Just, were closed. Oh well, wasted a bit of time, and a buck on the meter, but we moved on to the normal spot, Lolita’s, for a burro before the game. I surely will not make an effort to try Albert s again.

This is a local San Diego chain restaurant with several locations across the county, we stopped by this one because we were working in the local downtown area. It’s actually quite convenient if you take the trolley downtown to stop by this place and grab some quick Mexican food. Service here was great, guy at the counter was very enthusiastic and greeted us as we walked in, food came out quick. My buddy goes to this place at its location in Lakeside, he advised on trying the shredded chicken lettuce wraps. Damn, these things were good, chicken was moist and seasoned great. Guacamole was also really good, tasted fresh and full of avocados, not the fake stuff. For lettuce wraps, it sure did fill me up and tasted great. I’d defintely like to come back to this place, maybe the La Mesa location and try some more stuff.

Albert’s fresh Mexican food is awesome. Consistently good at a fair price. Fast service and helpful workers. Easily the best burritos in the area. I wish the hours were open later!

Since this place is close to my work and school I’ve been here many times, first time I ordered chicken tacos but they were very tasteless and it was shredded chicken which I don’t like. I thought about giving one more chance to this place and I tried shrimp burrito, it was the best burrito I’ve ever had in SD, it was big and loaded with grilled shrimps, vegetables, and rice. I’m a big fan of shrimp burritos here, I often come here only for shrimp burritos,

Great place. Very clean, service is kind, reliable, and attentive. The food comes out fast and portions are usually huge. The menu has a lot to choose from, and you even have the opportunity to substitute pinto beans for black beans and flour tortillas for whole wheat. I take classes at City and usually come here when I need to take a break without straying too far from campus. Food is fresh and delicious. My favorite is the downtown burrito which I get with carne asada, cheese, black beams and rice. And all of the burritos are basically the size of your arm! So good after having a long day without much sleep. Seriously guys, you can seek and find a lot of comfort at this place. I’m on break now and already dreaming about the food I’ll have when classes start up again — at least there’s that!

This place is great! The food is extremely fresh and I love their options for black beans and wheat tortilla for those who are looking for a bit of a healthier meal. I have tried most of the things on the menu and they are all great. I have never had a bad experience here. Albert’s can occasionally be crowded because the most people I’ve ever seen working there is 2. One cashier and one cook. The food makes up for the wait though! If your in the downtown area or having your car serviced at Firestone across the street, come here!

Decided that I’ve give Albert’s another try. I had the five rolled tacos with cheese and guacamole. Holy f*ck! So gross. The guacamole tasted like ammonia! Never again Albert’s, never again!

I have not to date had a bad meal at Albert’s. I have eaten at some of the other locations around town including the one near my home with great results. Today, I came buy to order their famous chicken big rolled tacos for $ 4.79.( ) They rolled tacos were fantastic! First of all, they always come loaded with shredded peppery chicken, and as if that is not enough, they load them with creamy guacamole and fresh shredded cheese on top.( ) But believe it or not, that is not the best part. The best part for me is the amazing crunchy rolled corn tortilla they come with. They have the perfect fry, that allows for a great flavorful and crunch with every bite.( ) Then you get that moist juicy chicken on the inside, and then the creamy guacamole and shredded cheese on the outside; talk about a textural blissful sensation. If you have not tried these, they are a must at any of Albert’s locations around town. The employees were very nice and the place was clean. Oh yes, you get free corn tortilla chips and salsa when you eat in( ), and they have a great salsa bar. Big Rolled Tacos Rule!
