We needed an alarm system with live video monitoring for our office. Keith from alarm 2000 is a great salesman and returns calls in a timely manner. The reason for the 1 star — The monitoring company (central security) is lacking in professional knowledge. Example: Central security called us to do a «monthly» test of the system and could not complete the test because of non monitoring and technical issues. Per the central security tech we where not being monitored for 6 months. we called alarm 2000, they came to our office in a timely manner, called the monitoring company and figured out it was a technical glitch. regarding the non monitoring for 6 months, per another tech from central security they believe we where being monitored. Since then we have not received a «monthly» call from central security to check our system. I called them 2 months after to check to see if they called to complete the check on our system and they did not and they did not acknowledge that this was something that they do. In regard to
: They have a phone app that is easy to use which is nice however the reason why I am not happy with
is because it does not allow me to monitor the the exterior of my office. This was the main requirement for they system. the video times out after 15 seconds and or does not connect to the camera and or is pixelated. I have called
to figure out what the problem was and was directed to call alarm 2000. Keith and his tech came to my office and tried to fix it but could not.
also requires a java plug in which I added but it still does not work. I have also tried to monitor the video in different web browsers and that did not work. Regarding the panel inside the office — from time to time the security system it self has errors to which you just have to wait 24 to 48 hours for it to clear itself out. I understand all alarm systems have issues but the biggest disappointment to me is the video monitoring. We have been experiencing the same problems since day 1 with no resolution to date. There seems to be a disconnect between sales and the actual product they are selling. If I could do it over again I would not go with Alarm 2000 or

So easy and professional through the entire process. I called to set up service and they offered to install after normal hours the very next day. The equipment is very modern and easy to use. I realized we needed to add a sensor and Keith took care of us so very quickly. If you are deciding who to use for home security in SD, don’t hesitate to use Alarm 2000.

Alarm2000 is outstanding and we are very pleased with our decision to go with them for a full home security system.
Our requirements were to take over an older existing but high-​end house system (doors, windows, motion sensors) and add video monitoring and detached garage-​door monitoring and control (open/​close).
I received estimates from other local security companies as well as ATT UVERSE. Since we have ATT for other home services I looked at them first. Long story short, bad reviews and a strong sense that they were just out for quota sales made me say no quickly.
Keith the owner performed a very thorough estimate walk through. His professionalism, knowledge and pricing earned our business vs the other local companies.
Install was scheduled for just 3 days after estimate. It went extremely smooth, and the technician Scott was very knowledgeable.
Here are the 3 areas in decision making (IMO)
1. Installing Company: I decided to go local for the responsiveness/​support. Each local company has their preferred equipment brands, etc. Alarm2000’s were very capable.
2. Monitoring Service: Central Security Group is a common one. Solid, and the folks behind your monitoring/​dispatch services.
3. Smart phone interface: Alarm2000 set us up with
app. Works excellent. System control, video, and garage door position monitoring + open/​close control.
We had one early glitch with
— system was shifting from Away mode to Stay mode. Called Keith the owner and he promptly connected with
and we performed a 3-​way 30 min remote troubleshooting process that successfully fixed the issue. Outstanding!
We could not be more pleased and trusting of Alarm2000.

Scott Kesling came out and installed our security system this last week and we were all very impressed with how great his customer service was. He was friendly, knowledgeable and all around wonderful to work with. I will now be referring people to Alarm 2000 because of him. Thanks Scott!

I found Alarm 2000 from referring to the sign that the previous home owners had in the yard. I called Keith and made an appointment for the install. Then had to call him 2 more times to reschedule. He was very understanding and very accommodating. When It finally came time for the appointment to take place, he arrived on time and provided a VERY detailed overview of the process and system. Once again, he was very accommodating to have his technician come out the very next day to get have the system go live, as I had broken a window on my move in and he wanted to ensure that I felt safe in my new home.
The technician, Scott, was on time, if not 5 mins early and was able to quickly get things completely set up. They were both very professional and very thorough with the explanation to this first time home buyer! I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking to install or change their alarm provider.

Scott came back to fix an old/​faulty sensor that was in the house when I purchased. Once again, he was a pro and great to work with!

I wanted to wait a couple of weeks to write this review to see how our new system played out.
A friend referred Keith from Alarm2000 to installed our alarm system. Keith arrived very promptly and was very friendly. He was very patient and answered all of our questions. He came Thursday night and our system was installed on Saturday. All of our equipments including the upgraded touchscreen pad was FREE! We ended up with the wireless service where we can do everything on our iPhone. There were some minor glitches but it only took one text to Keith to get the problem fixed. We definitely feel safer. My husband set off the alarm 3 times by accident and the monitoring company CSG called within seconds. I was very surprise how quickly they respond. Thank you Keith!

It was time to replace our 25 year old alarm system. After interviewing four companies, I decided on Alarm2000. I definitely made the right choice. Keith came to our house to describe the different options for hardware, services, and contracts. He answered all of our questions thoroughly and in great detail. He was patient and never rushed. It was decided that almost all of our old system was to be replaced, except the door and window contacts.
I was surprised when I found out that there was no charge for all of the new hardware (over $ 1,000 worth of parts), but only a two year monitoring contract, which actually cost less than our old contract.
A week later, the installer showed up right on time. I watched him install the new system, and bothered him with a lot of questions. He then programmed it and ran us through the operation of the new keypads. A few days later, we had a small glitch. I called Keith, and he had the installer come the next day and worked it out. Very timely and professional.
I highly recommend this company. They are personal, professional, and seem to take pride in their work. Thank you Keith.

I am writing this review as my home security system is being installed. In short, I’m growing a bit impatient. The technician started the installation at 8:00 am; it’s now 10:00 am, and he is still having trouble getting the alarm system to work. I’m a bit frustrated because I also have painters re-​beautifying my entire house, so the back and forth by the technician and the constant loud alarm sounds are disruptive and of understatedly annoying. Apparently, the AT&T technician who came out to install the landline switched the «colors of the wires» causing a problem for the home security system. My understanding is that generally, this is not a problem. I suppose I just happened to be one of the few home owners that have unreasonably connected wires.
10:15 am and it looks like the alarm is finally working! Hallelujah! I just wish I didn’t have to have Bill Humphries, the technician come out yet again for one more small matter — the sensors. I’m told it will only take 5 minutes. Thus far, everything, including the initial consultation has taken at least 1 hour.
Initially, the owner Keith was very kind and informative. The consultation was slated for 15 minutes, but it took 1 hour; I was fine with that because I was able to get all my questions answered. He seemed less enthused after I wrote my check for the first month of service. I had to contact him because of an issue I had with the way my phone line was connected. Apparently, the previous owner had Cox and they cut the phone lines so that the owner could just use the Internet connection. Because of this, the Alarm 2000 tech, Bill Humphries could not install my home security system. AT&T immediately resolved the issue. I was frustrated to learn that the Home security technician could have easily still installed the system without AT&T coming out. Apparently, most home security companies/​technicians are familiar with phone companies «cutting one another’s lines», and therefore, are trained to work through it.
When I contacted Keith to reschedule the technician visit he was not as friendly as the initial call when I stated an interest in securing his Home Security services. It always concerns me when a company that I am interested in doing business with is initially so customer service friendly, but once the first check is collected the service is not quite as friendly. I wondered if this was a red flag to go with another company. However, I went forward with alarm 2000. I was satisfied with the fact that he scheduled the technician to come back to my home based around my schedule. Alarm 2000 is very accommodating in that regard. Thumbs up for that.
I’m giving alarm 2000 3.5 stars. However, since 3.5 stars is not available I’m bumping it up to 4 and will revise accordingly as time progresses.
My rationale for the 3.5÷4 stars is as follows: 5 stars for the initial phone call in consultation with Keith the owner which was extremely helpful. That was an awesome educational opportunity.
3 stars for the initial visit whereby the technician appeared at my home prior to calling first as I initially requested in my consultation with the key. Slight miscommunication, but it happens.
3 stars because I was told by AT&T technicians that the Home security system could have still been installed by the 2000 technician, even with Cox cable having «cut the phone line».
2 stars for the painful to two hour installation process. I was told that this would be a «quick and simple» installation. The installation interfered a bit with my painters ability to get their job done. Lots of bumping into one another and getting into one another’s way.
2 stars for the conversations with Keith when he mentioned several times how he gets paid. The issue of how they get paid occurred a second time. Here, he indicated the technician who came out wanted to get paid but could not because the system was not installed. I felt this was unnecessary and in poor taste. I’m paying a monthly fee for a service. How a company gets paid is is internal, and should not be a matter taken up with the customer.
5 stars for the service technician Bill Humphries. He is very kind and has a great attitude. Loved his and customer service and friendliness. He is an absolute delight to work with.
At this point, I cannot say whether I am 100% satisfied with the actual home security as I have not had any issues where the alarm would be triggered. God willing, I will never have to.
Overall, I would recommend Alarm 2000. Recommend asking lots of questions and being very clear as to the process, timeframes, etc beforehand.

Thanks to Keith and alarm 2000. We used their services after being robed 2 times in one year. I am grateful to them for making our house safe and I wish them much success on the future.

After an unpleasant experience with ADT in getting our home alarm system reactivated, my husband found Alarm2000 through Unilocal.Keith responded to our inquiry promptly and came to our home to explain the service within 24 hours of our initial contact. He explained that his company operates like a referral service, where he connects homeowners and business owners to security monitoring companies, which helps ensure that you get the best deal possible because those companies are competing for your business. Also, Keith takes care of any paperwork that needs to be filed with the city, so you don’t have to deal with that hassle.
A minor complaint is that the installation process didn’t go as smoothly as I had hoped. The first installation took 3 and a half hours, and the technician seemed to struggle with the system. The technician had to come back a second time in order to complete the programming of the system (if I recall correctly, there was an issue with programming one of our doors), which was not the most convenient thing for us. Fortunately, the second visit took a lot less time. But I do think that Alarm2000 technicians could use a little more customer service training especially in showing the owners how to better use the system rather than just handing them an instructional CD.
Overall, my husband and I were pleased with the purchase and installation through Alarm2000 and we have not had any issues with the monitoring company to date.

Alarm 2000 has been my alarm provider for the last two years, they upgraded my alarm system to pass the toughest standards in the industry for a commerical business. I strongly reccomend Alarm 2000 for commerical and residential service. The alarm techs are very good to work with and solve any problems that might arise.

I was one of those who kept putting this off for years and the «BIG» guys were a big part of that; I heard the horror stories of cost, confusing packages, sub-​par equip, etc. Keith came over, listened to what I wanted and set me up– super easy and painless. Add to that, he didn’t sell me a bunch of nonsense!

I would have like to have a 5 star review here but due to the monitoring company Keith uses, I have to give a 3 star rating. We’ve had the system installed for a year in January. In that time it’s worked as expected and Keith has always returned calls within a day or so the few time we’ve needed help.
However, in trying to move my system to a new home utilizing the one year free system in new house component of the purchase/​warranty I have been unable to reach a customer service agent with the monitoring company that owns the system.
Day one: 45 minutes on hold without answer.
Day two: 60 minutes on hold without answer.
Day Three: 55 minutes on hold just to cancel service and it’s still not cancelled!
So now I’m looking at paying two monitoring fees as Keith can’t install a new system until my old components are available from the old service contract. Now having a new system installed by another Unilocal rated provider.

I considered a home security system for quite some time for a variety of reasons: Peace of mind, discount on home owner’s insurance, quicker access to police/​fire/​medical in the event of an emergency, etc.
Due to a few creepy folks in my neighborhood (think they hit the spoon with the lighter a few too many times), I decided it was time to end the procrastination and move forward.
After some research and recommendations, I reached out to Alarm2000 on a Monday late afternoon. I prefer to support local businesses whenever possible, which made them an ideal choice. Within 30 minutes, Keith, their owner, called me directly and scheduled a time to meet the following evening (I have a crazy work schedule, so meeting after 5 alone was amazing) — and he came to me. Unlike the larger national companies, I didn’t feel like a number with Keith and his company.
Keith and I walked through my house, and he pointed out valuable tips along the way of simple things I could do myself to make the place safer. Shortly later, we were writing up a work order and scheduling installation. He was friendly, enjoyable, knowledgeable and got right to the point — and he was cool with my asking a thousand and one questions along the way.
Install was set for Friday morning. Their technician, Scott, showed up at the time they said he would. He was in and out in less time than anticipated, cleaned up after himself along the way (despite my telling him a few times he didn’t have to worry about any mess since my cleaning lady was coming in a few hours). He, too, was friendly and knowledgeable about the products. He walked me through the system, tested everything and away he went.
The system has been up and running all day with no problems; I’ve tested it thoroughly a number of times, including the various motion sensors … which is important to me, considering I have three dogs that run around all of the time and I had a fear the four-​legged menaces would trip the security system when they opted to start climbing on furniture and the like. To my delight, none of them did — as Keith and Scott promised.
To go from procrastinating for almost five years to up and running with a full security system in basically four days (install could have been even earlier in the week had my work schedule allowed), I couldn’t be happier. Looking forward to a long and positive relationship with Alarm2000.
Now if I can only remember it’s armed so I don’t set it off and be greeted by the Oside swat team, I’ll consider this a mission accomplished.

These guys rock! Not only are they super friendly, they are very honest about what you do and don’t need. I just bought a house that had an existing alarm (that the seller didn’t provide codes to) and I wanted to replace it with something that enabled home automation. Kieth showed up the next day and explained how they could use the existing wired system, upgrade it with a new brain and enable all the home automation features. I had big plans on what I wanted to do but Kieth took his time to explain why some of them wouldn’t work very well in practice where he easily could’ve taken just taken my money and I wouldn’t have known better. They really want their customers to know what they’re getting and why.
Installation was scheduled for the day of the move in and the installer Scott actually showed up a little early and didn’t complain once working around the moving crew moving boxes and furniture around.
Can absolutely recommend these guys for anyone who want to have a solid alarm and feel confident in how it’s set up!

After having a break in at my office I researched a bunch of alarm companies and finally decided to go with Alarm 2000.
I was however a bit concerned from a couple of the Unilocal reviews, but it has been my experience that people tend to only leave bad reviews because they’re motivated and angry. You can tell when people are vindictive in their reviews and I don’t lend those a lot of weight.
My experience with Keith (and Steve the installer) was what was expected. He had competitive prices and he delivered on his promises. He was very knowledgeable on the components needed and didn’t try to over sell. He actually talked me out of equipment I thought I would need.
I had him install a system in my home and in my office.
I live in the 4S Ranch area and maybe it’s me, but I recognize one of his signs on almost every street I drive.
He must be doing something right… I recommend him.
