Davis Floors

I was referred to Jeff from a neighbor on Nextdoor and not only is he professional and knowledgable, he’s extremely kind. I was in a bad situation after plumbing issues left our floor severely damaged and he was quick to help. He was able to diagnose the problem and identify the exact make and model of our wood within minutes of entering our home. The insurance company’s lab later verified that his findings were correct (only after testing the wood). Unfortunately, due to circumstances with the insurance company we were unable to work with Jeff. He was gracious and shared pictures of finished homes with the wood we liked to help us make our choice. If we could’ve picked our own contractor, we would’ve whole heartedly chosen Jeff.

I needed to get my kitchen floor redone after water damage. So I called a few installers for estimates. Last contact was Davis Floor. Jeff was so kind just like others described about him on Unilocal.Even though he had a busy schedule he came to my place and showed me samples. He was also good at picking the right color and material.
He somehow managed to squeeze my job into his busy schedule and sent a 2 person crew to my place the very next morning to start flooring. Besides flooring, Jeff helped me with other little handyman jobs and did not charge me much compared to other installers. The floor turned out great; I am so satisfied with his work and his crew. I can’t wait to do the entire floor in my house in November.

I highly recommend Jeff and his team for your flooring work. We had some floor patching to do in our house following a remodel, and even if it was a small job in area, Jeff had to deal with uneven subfloor, had to perform a clean cut of existing floor in order to do a seamless transition between old and new flooring. The result is as good or better than i was expecting. Jeff did the job efficiently, was great to communicate with before and during the job, and he managed to do the task while staying on budget. I will definitely contact him again for my next flooring needs.

We worked with Jeff and his team (Jeff’s twin brother and a childhood friend) on a very small job in our new home — we had removed built-​in cabinetry in a bedroom and discovered that the hardwood floors have been installed around the cabinets. We worked with Davis Floors to clean up the raw edges and install new boards to match the rest of the room (we had extra boards so the materials were pre-​selected).
I was impressed from the beginning with Jeff’s customer service; he was a prompt communicator via phone and email, treated us well even though the job was incredibly small for them, and gave us a reasonable price. The final invoice matched the initial quote exactly. I enjoyed working with Davis Floors and would do so again on both big jobs and small jobs.

Jeff from Davis Floors is a great communicator, nice guy and seems very knowledgeable about his business. He came by a few times to provide help and quotes regarding replacing old laminate and the purchase and installation of new solid maple floors. So far he has been great to work with: I plan to provide an update after the work is complete.

Jeff and his team are amazing! Jeff came out to our house multiple times discussing product types to ensure that we found the best wood for our project. He is knowledgeable, friendly, and always willing to offer advice from his years of experience. When it came time to doing the work, they came out ready to work hard. I would recommend them to anyone!

They where polite, on time, on budget and did a great job! We got a quote for $ 30,000 and Jeff did it for $ 15,000!

Davis Floors installed about 2000 sq. ft. of flooring in a new-​construction home for us in 2013, and in summary, Jeff Davis and his crew are professional, they really know flooring, and are great to work with.
THE WORK: Jeff responded to our quote inquiry in a timely manner, did a site visit and took measurements himself, gave us a quote in a timely manner, and worked around the many delays we encountered due to the builder & other sub-​contractors. He always made it clear when he and his crew would be working our site. They also did a beautiful job of positioning the flooring.
ONE DETAIL WISH: they put flooring on a cover for a crawlspace, but it doesn’t fit cleanly. That said, it’s in a closet, and we’re not the kind of people to be bothered much by that (but if you are, just request extra attention to similar tasks).
LISTEN TO JEFF: We also debated whether we needed a sound-​deadening underlayment, which Jeff recommended. He described the factors involved, but left the decision to us. We wanted to save money and time and had been told by another contractor that it’s really the nails that create the creaking, so we shouldn’t need underlayment (we used pre-​finished flooring [so, no nails]). So we decided to skip it. Now having lived in the house, we realize that although underlayment doesn’t prevent creaks per se, it goes a very long way in preventing the sound from traveling. So while we wish Jeff pushed us more on that choice, we definitely attribute the final decision to ourselves. In short, I would say, listen to Jeff. :)
ON PRICE: We initially thought Davis Floors was a bit pricey, but we got a quote from another installer (the one who semi-​misinformed us about the underlayment) and his was higher, and used a much cheaper flooring product. I would consider Davis priced well for the high-​quality work they do. We’ve recommended Davis to friends already, and would use them again if we ever need flooring work.

I am so glad to have found Jeff and his crew through Unilocal.At our first appt. he was friendly and attentive and very nice. The first impression carried on to the whole job, which was done by him and his crew. They did a wonderful job; my condo looks so transformed. And on top of that, they are all good guys who are fun as well as dependable and extremely good at what they do. They listen to your concerns and make sure the job is exactly what you want. I would say the word fantastic is not too extreme for the whole experience from beginning to end. They provide advice on any issue you may have regarding the job at hand, and the pricing is extremely fair. On top of it all, you can depend on them to finish when they said they would (fast!). Pricing was very fair, and I am glad to recommend them to anyone out there.

He did the most amazing job on my house, every detail was perfect and he finished on time. I cannot say enough positive things about him, he’s definitely the best in the business.

I contacted Davis Floors and spoke to Jeff over to phone to see if he could assist on helping me repair my hardwood floor that was installed improperly by another contractor. Jeff was extremely attentive and he listened to all my concerns with a great deal of patience. He was very sincere, genuinely interested in helping me find solutions to the problem rather than just being focused on trying to get contract work.
He provided some expert advice and suggested for me to try a few things first before even hiring him to do any work. It’s been rather frustrating to try and get someone to come out and repair my floor.
I’ve called several flooring contractors and many of them will not even come out to do the repairs. Jeff was the only person that would give me the time of day. Although, I have not used him for any work as of yet, based on the time he spent over the phone, his knowledge, and honesty, I would DEFINITELY consider hiring him if need be.

Jeff and his team installed new hardwood floors in my house and they did a fantastic job.
Before the project, I had done my homework of research and I also talked to quite a few different vendors and installers. I could tell right away that Jeff is very knowledgeable and honest. The recommendation he gave me were right on based on my needs and the specific case of my house, unless some other installers that want to sway your decision to make more money or make the work easier.
The estimate he gave was fair and clear (all itemized). The final charge was essentially the same as the estimate.
When it comes to the actual job, Jeff and his team was very efficient. He kept me informed on the plan and the status daily, and the projection of the work ahead. I raised a couple extra requests, he graciously accommodated. It was quite a pleasant experience. Like some of the other reviewers pointed out, Jeff actually does the job, so the requirements, discussion from the estimation phase were not lost. He had all the details discussed covered.
I would recommend Jeff to anyone looking for great flooring work.

Jeff and his team installed hardwood floors on our stairs to match those we had previously installed on our home’s main floor. The entire experience was top notch — from initial contact to estimate to scheduling through installation. Jeff and his team did an excellent job. The workmanship was fantastic and a perfect match to our pre-​existing floors. I highly recommend Davis Floors!

We had a GREAT experience working with Jeff. Our job included tearing down old carpets on the whole second floor, dismantling some shelving, leveling the floor (there was some weird bump), installing a layer of plywood and luxury vinyl plank on top throughout the second floor, and fixing some minor things. Jeff’s team worked super fast — all this was done in just 4 days! They did an impeccable job and our floors look absolutely beautiful.
We were very comfortable working with Jeff and felt that we could trust him. He is very responsive, knowledgeable, super friendly, and cares about his customers. I consulted 2 other contractors before reaching out to Davis Floors. I eventually chose Davis, as I feel their responses/​service is more professional and timely. Also, their quote is the most inexpensive among the 3 quotes I got.
I scheduled the installation, and they arrive on time. My project is a small one, only 2 bedrooms, but they treat the small project quite seriously. Their service is quick and outstanding!

Our renter had let her pets use the upstairs bedroom as their own personal restroom.
Pulling up the carpet revealed extremely damaged hardwood floors. Jeff removed and replaced the damaged area. Then sanded and stained the floors. In one word FLAWLESS. The floors looked brand new you couldn’t see where the repairs were made. Perfect job. Jeff was great to work with. Going to post some before and after pics. Thank you so much.

I called Jeff based on previous Unilocal reviews and had a very satisfying phone call. He picked up on my first try and stuck with me through all my questions, answering them thoroughly and with generous amounts of information. He knows our area’s homes so well, he understands, without seeing the floor, exactly what we have going on based on my descriptions. He gave me many ideas and angles of approach for our trouble spots. I am glad to hear that he’s booked for the next 2 months with work — that means others like his work, too!

Excellent experience with Jeff Davis. We got our bedrooms and stairs done — ripped out old carpet and put in engineered maple wood. Jeff and his team were very professional, everything got done as he explained, no extra charges for anything. As we bought the wood and stair noses ourselves, we had a a lot of questions and Jeff was very responsive to answer them via email. No complaints at all and they deserve a five star review.

We hired Jeff Davis to replace all the old, creaky, and majorly scratched-​up hardwood floor through half of our our home in Belmont. He was very friendly and knowledgeable, knew all the pros and cons of why I might want to pick this flooring or that flooring, and found us some great new bamboo floors.
Over the course of a couple days, Jeff and his guys tore out the old floor, fixed 95% of the creaking in the sub-​floor, and installed the new bamboo flooring for us. It made such a huge difference in our home, and we were very pleased with Jeff’s work. They took a lot of care to make sure that the new floors looked absolutely pristine; they even used some fancy hover-​machine to float the fridge back into place in the kitchen!
If I had more flooring to be replaced, I would definitely go straight to Davis Floors, but I can already tell that Jeff’s work will probably last longer than I’ll live here!

My husband and I have used Davis Floors two times and we would never use anyone else to do our floors. Jeff Davis is the owner and he is not only a very nice person, he is super knowledgeable and honest. We installed laminate floors in our condo a few years ago. We had picked out a product from Costco to use and asked him to install it. He could have easily told us not to use it and go with something he had, which we would have done. But he was honest and said the product we wanted to buy at Costco was good stuff and he would install it. We were doing some extensive remodeling and dealing with lots of contractors at the time. He was one of the only contractors that started on time and ended on time!
Then just recently, we had Davis Floors sand, re-​stain, and refinish real hardwood floors in a 2000+ sq ft house that we were putting on the market. He did such an excellent job that our Realtor wants to use him, and she has worked with many floor people getting houses ready to sell during her career.
Price wise, he is not the most expensive and he is not the cheapest either. I think for the quality of work Davis Floors does, their rates are good.
