Let me preface this review by stating that my experience with my doctor and nurses has been nothing but positive. 3 stars for that. The front desk staff, on the other hand, have been consistently rude, as if speaking with any of the patients is a huge inconvenience to their daily activities. I DREAD office visits and calling to make appointments/have prescriptions refilled. An example: after being on hold for 15 minutes, I was given no other option than to leave a voicemail for a nurse to have my question answered.(I was calling to check whether she had received my previous voicemail.) The«not recommended» reviews are undoubtedly overly emotional, but they are accurate regarding the remarks about front desk staff. Healthcare is becoming more and more of a business(it is evident this office is organized for profit) and being such, as a customer(patient!), it would be nice to be treated with a minimal level of courteousness and respect.

I have been a patient of Dr Coutinho’s for 6 years now. I like him as a doctor. He’s smart, kind, and listens to me when I have a concern. The problem I have is with his staff. Mainly, his office manager, who borderlines on rude. I had a very necessary appointment today. I had to bring my almost 9 year old son with me. They have a no child policy. Two hours before, my son was having problems with his stomach. I couldn’t send him to school. There was no time to cancel or reschedule at this point. I very sweetly asked them when I got there if it was okay if my son came in the room with me. It was a thyroid follow up. Just mostly talking. The receptionist said they couldn’t see me and there were no exceptions. I then nicely asked for the office manager to see if there was anything they could do. If they could make this exception because my situation was unforseen. The office manager very firmly, borderlining on rude, said there were no exceptions because of liability issues. This just does not make any sense to me. My son is almost 9 and he brought his Nintendo DS. He is so quiet you would never know he was there. I could see if he was a toddler and was a distraction, but he’s not. I am just disappointed because I thought Stone Oak Family Doctors cared about their patients. They must just have so many that it doesn’t matter that I decided to end my patient doctor relationship. When I told the office manager I had no choice but to find a new practice she couldn’t care less. I just don’t think Stone Oak Family Doctors is for me. I tried my very best to schedule an appointment without bringing kids but sometimes things happen. I am disappointed that I am not valued as a patient at Stone Oak Family Doctors. I really like Dr Coutinho but life happens and you have to make adjustments. I ask, should it really be called Stone Oak Family Doctors if they don’t allow a 9 year old kid there?

I have been seeing Dr. Coutinho for several years and wouldn’t go to any other family doctor! He is kind, thorough and on the ball! Now my sisters all see him too! The office has clinic everyday, Saturday too for walk in care for established patients.
