Staybridge Suites San Antonio Downtown Conv Ctr

This hotel would have had 5 stars if the parking was closer and house keeping did their jobs, just my thought but I think there vacuum is broken. Carpet is very dirty in the rooms. Downtown is in walking distance. Nice location if you need to travel back and fourth to Fort Sam (10 mins travel at max). Military friendly hotel. Social hours Tuesday thru Thursday are great.

If you’ve stayed at a Staybridge before then you know they don’t differ from eachother much. This is a fairly large one. I think 14 floors. It’s a little older than some and the area is a little odd, but if you can get a good rate I’d say go for it. You can walk to a lot of things, but if you have a rental basically all the good stuff is super close.
Staff was great. Hotel was a little musty, but that should just force you to get out and enjoy all the rad things San Antonio has to offer.

The staff was polite, but after finding toothpaste stains on the bathroom mirror and hair on the bed after checking in, I asked for a different room. The second and third rooms also had stains on the mirrors and hairs and stains on the bedding and in the bathrooms. The only reason I give this two stars is because the staff tried to accommodate me and the hotel is otherwise decent. Maybe housekeeping just had a bad day. Parking is inconvenient and the hotel is not as close to downtown amenities as I would have liked. I did not stay here after the room problems, so I can’t comment on the breakfast buffet.

Excellent front desk help. Very helpful and friendly. The happy hour was nice. Room is decent. The bed is awful though. Get new beds.

Main tv was unplugged when we came in. After hooking back up we figured out why, the tv remote and buttons on tv don’t work (esp. off button). Two out of three remotes in room don’t work. Bed is a uncomfy. Several doors in room look like they’ve been punched, not repaired. Ceiling patching, not painted. Elevator issues, lots of pops and bangs. Elevator got stuck a few times. Elevator also went to an upper floor and then dropped one floor (twice). We were rushed out of elevators once by the front desk and asked to use the other. I guess an alarm went off.
Able to walk to downtown, you cross under the highway; bit of a trek. Small but very clean/​organized pool. Military friendly. Able to smoke in room; smokers delight. Free breakfast and evening socials (beer and food). Super service. Super close to SPURS.

First time stay here, and thanks to Million Air for this. Lots of elec outlets for all the stuff. Really nice room with all required amenities. Will surely return.

Had a great experience! Spacious room, inside walking distance to the river walk. It’s right next door to the alamodome and has a few small restaurants and bars right next door. Very friendly and accommodating staff.

I really, really like this hotel. It is the quietest hotel I have ever stayed in. I know it’s full because there are only a couple of parking spots available and the lobby and social areas are full yet I haven’t heard a bump, or sink, or footstep my entire stay!
It’s big and the kitchen is well built and well equipped. The glasses are real glass and the dishes are very nice quality stoneware. It even has a dishwasher and ice maker in the fridge.
The bed is comfortable and the rooms are big. Plenty of towels and the staff speaks english and is very accommodating to anything I’ve requested.
I will stay here for all my future trips to San Antonio.

The place is really nice, spacious and clean. Service is great. Free breakfast in the morning. Then Tu, Wed, Th, they have free dinner along with beer and wine. yea the food isn’t very abundant in options, but hey its free and its pretty good. If you are creative you can actually put together something very tasteful/​filling.
They also have free complimentary wifi and a business center if you need to print anything.
Bed is comfy. Flat screen in both the bedroom and the «living room». The place comes equipped with essentials like dishes, silverware and glassware. They even have a few containers to store leftovers. They do not however, have a blender or an oven, but they have pans, stove, microwave and a dishwasher.
The location is conveniently located near the alamo, riverwalk and the train station (we walked there). I enjoyed my stay here. It was great.
They have a pool and a small fitness center (which I think only one treadmill was working).
Overall it was very much worth it.

Pleasantly surprised, I travel a lot, but first time I’ve used this brand. I’m usually a Sheraton /​Westin frequent flyer.
The suite was very roomy, cozy, and well-​thought out. Loved the kitchenette and loved the self-​laundry downstairs. We were doing a 1 week trip and it was awesome to wash up some clothes before the next leg.
My wife & I frequently commented in the room how much we liked it and it was one of the more comfortable ones I had stayed in.
Breakfast — definitely a 2, at best, it was pretty bad actually. Wolfgang Puck coffee… yuck… always tasteless. I had some toast and a couple of sausage links, basically all there was to pick from. No fresh fruits or anything like that (I like Marriott the best for breakfast and expected better here).
Super convenient location though for starting our rail trip in the morning on Amtrak across the street. If back in SA, we’ll probably stay there again.
A few negatives —
Fitness center, I went down there, but didn’t bother, it looked like cheap stuff from Costco or something. I’m a big strong guy & usually do an intense hour on an elliptical about 5 times a week… the wobbly /​crappy stationary bike made out of plastic didn’t look like it would do the trick. Don’t let the photos fool you, it’s the size of a closet and they have mirrors on all walls to make it look better. It’s not their thing though, I realize that, so I’m only knocking off a bit for it. For my 18 weeks a year or so of business travel though, definitely wouldn’t work, I need a better workout than that.

Awesome Hotel and location… but when their washer/​elevator/​grill broke, it took a while for them to fix it. Parking in the front of hotel never available. I give them a 4 star coz they have free food and drinks (beer and wine) from tues-thursday…awesome !!

I was on temporary duty at Ft. Sam Houston for a month and chose to stay at the Staybridge Suites Sunset Station in San Antonio. I was there for 20+ days and can’t say enough about this hotel. The building and rooms are in great condition and the hotel is very clean. This is an extended stay hotel so the units are akin to studio apartments complete with a stove and refrigerator. The hotel has free parking (important to me because 20+ days of parking would be very expensive), free laundry, and free dinner at the hotel 3 days a week.
The hotel is located right next to the Alamodome and the Sunset Station area. The surrounding area is a little desolate but safe and well-​lit. The riverwalk and Alamo are a 10 minute walk from the hotel.
The only con I can think of in relation to the hotel was the quality of the internet service. Free wi-​fi is available throughout the hotel but it was often horribly slow and had a 5 day outage during my stay. This was the only thing that marred an otherwise great stay.
