Great coffee shop if you are a coffee fanatic. Every drink is hand brewed (they look like mad scientists). The cold brews are my go to drink. I’d recommend them to anyone that likes strong coffee. I’ve never tried the food, but it always looks good.

PROS:
— Holy moly, the baked goods here are the bomb! Must tries: croissants and bear claws (I can’t figure out for the life of me how these goodies end up so perfectly flaky yet buttery rich. Gah!)

— This is obviously not the place to go if you want to grab a coffee to go ASAP. Keep in mind that a pour over takes a couple of minutes!
— I personally prefer the taste of the roasts at Northwest Coffee, but the fast and reliable wifi + lack of offensively loud background music + amazing bakery selection at Comet Coffee makes this the #1 coffee joint for me

I had never been here before, and my friend asked me to meet her for a cup.
We had more than one cup of tea or coffee each and I also had a very yummy hazelnut buckwheat muffin. The best part is that I felt like I was right at home from the second I got there — sure there aren’t couches and ambient fires ablaze, but the easy-​going-​energetic-​happy-​go-​lucky-​make-​you-​feel-​right-​at-​home gentlemen behind the bar were great!
Just to add one more time– the brews were all delicious and definitely well worth the price (which is saying a lot since I’m a Starbucks junkie and hate paying for their stuff). I’d pay $ 5 for my caramel latte at comet everyday if they were closer to me!

Stopped by for a quick cup of coffee. Fantastic selection of coffee and teas. Would definitely stop by again.

A wonderful coffee café with a really nice vibe and soundproofing so the noise isn’t an issue. Relaxing with attention to detail and the baristas are knowledgeable and thoroughly enjoy what they do! Happy to impart information and educate and there is real pride in the freshly sourced pastries which are full of flavor.
It may seem funny to notice but the plates for the pastries are heavy and have a good feel-​no plastic but rather stoneware. So nice! And the cedar trays for my hand brewed coffee with a stoneware cup is another nice touch…
The bear claw was flaky and full of subtle delicious flavors and freshness, as was the croissant. Each mouthful seemed more flavorful than the last.
Parking is right out front though you have to back in but it’s very convenient.
Just a very civilized coffee and pastry café and I’m satiated from beautiful pastries and a very lovely cup of hand brewed coffee!
Good feel with little white noise so it’s relaxing…

Great Coffee Shop and Baked Goods — especially the Mexican Wedding Cookies. There is plenty of parking in the front/​back and lots of outdoor seatings. It’s location is a little strange since it’s right off the highway– so there is no neighborhood view or any view that isn’t the concrete highway outside.

So I came here with a friend on the weekend and I just wanted to try a pastry and coffee cause it was one of those days. I had the Meyers lemon pie slice, the name escapes me but all you need to know is that it’s filling is layered with lemon on bottom and what tasted like a medium dark chocolate then a crispy crust on the bottom to finish it up. I think the coolest thing about my visit was the coffee. I got and iced coffee with caramel, and they used fresh ingredients. When talking to the woman making the drinks she told me they make their own caramel in house and they use local dairy for the lattes which I thought was cool. Unfortunately they have different business hours which makes it hard to go, but it is definitely a nice spot.
I think the quality of the food is definitely worth the price. It was a tad expensive for the coffee, but it was a great cup, so I’m not too upset about it.

I am not a big coffee drinker, but I love tea and I think coffeeshops are a great place to sit and chat. I came here with a friend on a Thursday afternoon to drink some tea and chat. The space is pretty small, but sleek. There was a limited amount of pastries by around 3pm, but a large list of high quality coffees and teas.
I chose the iron goddess of mercy tea — an oolong — and a lemon poppyseed scone. I really enjoyed how they actually use real tea leaves here. It’s not like they just give me a bag of tea and pot to steep it in. They actually made and steeped my pot of tea for me in one of those fancy ingenuiTEA strainers. When they gave me my tea, they gave me a little Japanese tea cup and a cute pot so I could pour my own cups.
The tea was really good. You can definitely tell the difference when they use tea leaves instead of a cheap tea bag. The lemon poppyseed scone was ok. Not the most amazing scone, pretty average.
The only problem I had was the seating was limited and many people were just sitting there and doing work. I had a hard time finding a seat and we had two share at a big table with others and we had to sit next to each other to talk.
Overall, I enjoyed the service and the quality of comet coffee and I would come back as I good place to chat and drink tea.

Oh, Comet, how I love thee. Every cup of coffee I’ve had here has been delicious and dimensional. Hard to find baristas who know and love what they’re doing more than this crew.
Haven’t explored the microbakery side much, but the few pastries I’ve tried have also been great!

This is my favorite coffee place in STL. The coffee is superb, the baristas know exactly what to whip up or suggest to your tastes, and the pastry/​baked goods selection is out of this world. Their coffees are quality single origin beans that are super fresh and brewed using a V60 pour-​over. So your order will take 5+ minutes to make so this is not a place to go if you’re in a hurry trying to just get your drip coffee on-​the-​go. The baristas seem very passionate about their craft and offer tips and suggestions and educate on the available selection without being pretentious or pushy at the slightest.
And let me tell you about the pastries. Especially the CROISSANTS. I’ve had two of the best croissants pretty much… *in my life* here at Comet Coffee. Their CHOCOLATE CROISSANT is buttery, flaky, perfect. They also have a HAM & CHEESE CROISSANT with lonza and Camembert cheese from Salume Beddu. I had the most spectacular day after inhaling this croissant!

Their coffee selection is very thorough. They serve coffee from a bunch of different roasters so you can try something different each time you come. I had one of the cranberry scones as well, which was quite good. Staff is very friendly. Was very willing to answer questions about their brewing methods. Definitely plan on coming back.

I’ve never been here before and I told the barista. He helpfully explained all of the varieties of drinks: coffee, latte, flat white, teas, etc and then asked if I had any questions. He then showed me the pastry case– yum! Got a flat white-​Delish-​see my pics and choc chip cookie. In heaven. Perfect thing to warm me up on a freezing STL day.

Great environment, food, and drinks! Their hand-​poured coffee selection is extensive. The barristas were exceptionally friendly during my visit. Though the space was crowded, the people in the shop were considerate and helped make a space for me to sit. It seemed that many people stopping in were regulars with known orders. Excellent customer service is a delight to see.
On the day I went, the pastries were a little over done. The croissants were all a little to dark for my liking. I’m sure that was just an accident that day, though!
Another thing that pleased me was their register. It seemed faster and easier to use than many coffee shops and helped the line move very quickly!

One of my favorite coffee places in the STL, the baristas are friendly and offer good drink recommendations. I once ordered something i didnt particularly care for and the barista offered to make me a new drink free of charge. Food is delcious. The croissants are divine.
The environment allows for both people or are just grabbing a quick coffee and those that want to hang around and study. Free parking in back is a plus as that is sometimes hard to find in the city.

We tried comet on a whim one Saturday morning. Its a small location off Oakland but boy it was jamming for 9 am. We were only able to find a seat outside. I tried their Cheese and Broccoli quiche and it was on point! I could have eaten 3 more. The croissant was also very flaky and buttery. Unfortunately we did not try the coffee but based on what we did have we will be back to explore the menu some more.

This spot is a gem. Sure, the baristas are that slightly too cool for school hipster type,
who silently judge you for wanting cream in your coffee.
***[In fact, there’s a public shaming element to it, since you literally have to ask the barista for cream, rather than them having it set out for you. Thankfully I’m old and callused and just don’t care — I want my cream.]*** I stand corrected, it’s a health code thing (and apparently I’m a bit oversensitive :)).
Also, yes, everyone there is wearing a scarf and using a Mac, but you should have known that would be the case.
More importantly, coffee is excellent. I mean, really worth the trip. The house Sumatra gets a particular shout out for being deliciously mellow and chocolatey (I could appreciate its profile even with my philistine cream contaminating its purity). If you like Third Wave coffee, this is your kind of place. And the pastries are worth it too, particularly the gloriously flaky, crusty, NOT pillowy or underbaked, croissants of all stripes. Someone in there knows their laminate. The location is small, but people seem to cycle in and out such that there are always a couple of seats available.

Comet Coffee is a great contributor to the high-​end coffee scene in St. Louis. Their hand-​brewed coffees, fine pastries, and expert service keeps me coming back.
I adore their pastries. They are buttery, rich, and flavorful. I’m always a little flustered when I’m trying to decide which one to order because they all look delectable. My usual drink is the Tahitian vanilla latte, and it comes out hot and potent – just the way I like it.
I don’t love the shop though, and I probably wouldn’t ever hang out there for the atmosphere. It’s located in a bland development surrounded by same-​y loft buildings, a hotel, and a few businesses. Now that I say that, I’m sure it’s great for the residents and commuters who have to inhabit that area, but it’s a little bit of a detour for me. The shop is always full of corporate-​types with laptops, so I get my order to go. The décor and space doesn’t do it for me at all. The purple walls are a bit garish and the patio doesn’t exactly have a welcoming feel as it over looks a busy highway.
Comet Coffee wins on the quality/​technical level. The presentation is perfect and I tolerate the wait knowing my drink is being crafted meticulously. I can tell the baristas and bakers take their business seriously, and I don’t mind the prices that accompany such fine work.

Comet is one of my favorite places in St. Louis. The coffee and espresso are amazing, and the Baristas seem to really care about excellence in there art. On top of that, the pastry chef,
Stephanie is nothing short of a wizard when it comes to pastries. Seriously quite possibly the best croissant outside of Paris.

How could I give anything other than 5 stars? Comet is my favorite coffee shop. I try to stop in at least once a week and would be there more often if not for being on a tighter schedule. My general go to is a latte which is my favorite latte there is. Good flavor, right mix of foam to espresso, and they mix up the espresso once in a while to change up the flavor. For my birthday the wife did a coffee tasting where we got to try several pour overs. These were delicious and I highly recommend them!
The pastries here are absolutely ridiculous. Almond bear claws are overwhelming amazing (they are almost TOO good). The blueberry muffins are delish. If you are adventurous you have to try the Rebel Within. It has an egg over in the middle of a savory scone.
Comet also recently redid the inside and has more seating and a cozier feel.

Needed a good, quick coffee stop before meeting a friend in Forest Park.
Comet Coffee was definitely not quick, but it was good and a great overall Unilocal find.
With eight or so people in line (and a counter of sold-​out pastries), we thought it must be good if all the locals are spending their Labor Day morning there.
Our order:
Cortado — $ 4 — perfection, one of the best I’ve had
House Coffee — $ 3.25 — believe they only hand pour coffee, which is delicious, but time consuming. In a time crunch, I would have preferred a $ 2 drip, if available
Chocolate Chip Cookie — $ 2.5 — kind of pricey but worth it
One shocker: who the heck buys a $ 45 bag of Intelligentsia? You can buy it for $ 14.99 at your local Target.

Comet Coffee is splendid in their own right. Beautiful yet simple décor, amazing coffee brews, super cool employees and delicious pastry selections to pair with your favorite drink.
I’m also a stickler for a clean restroom and Comet passed the test with flying colors. It was immaculate and well organized. The purple walls gave off a certain feng shui

Hands down the best coffee in town. I recently moved to Dogtown and thought my only coffee option was to stop by Dunkin Donuts on the way to my work in Fenton. Barf. I’m so glad I found Comet.
All of the employees put so much care and love into making your coffee (literally speaking, as I usually get a heart in my foam!), there isn’t customer service like this anywhere else in STL in my opinion. Kaldi’s is a close second, but Comet just gives you the warm and fuzzies. Everyone is genuinely happy to be there and to act as your morning pick-​me-​up.
Now to the coffee. My regular order is the cappuccino with skim milk. It’s smooth, the perfect temperature, and the milk has the perfect froth. Granted it does take 5 – 10 minutes to get your coffee, but that’s because every cup is brewed fresh in their individual steepers.
The food looks amazing and one of these days I’ll give in and eat one of those heavenly carbs. Until then, I’ll enjoy the perfect cup of coffee

A killer Kyoto cold brew quenches any semblance of thirst you may possess on a hot summer day in Saint Louis.
Also of note, the zucchini black walnut muffin — subtle in its complexity, just sweet enough, and a name that tricks you into believing it just might be good for you.

Comet Coffee makes Starbucks look like a 6-​year old. They’ve take coffee to a WHOLE. NOTHER. LEVEL. But most importantly, they’ve done this without coming off pretentious. Loved this place on my first visit and will most definitely be back.
As a genuine coffee lover who isn’t looking for a cup full of sugar, but rather the true coffee taste with hints of flavor, this place is for me! They had maybe 10 different coffees from around the world to choose from. I told them I enjoyed nutty undertones and they casually suggested a coffee from Brazil. They brew it using some kind of method I’ve never seen before (I told you, they a very serious about the coffee) and serve it to you in a small coffee carafe with your own coffee cup and saucer. This yielded about 4 cups of coffee.
The food’s pretty cool as well. We tried a scone with goat cheese, walnuts and pears and their savory breakfast muffin with a soft boiled egg inside. Both were great.
This place is no joke. If you’re a coffee lover, check it out!

Oh man. I hadn’t had a chance to stop in comet for a solid year, but found my way back here Sunday. I finally had the appetite to try one of their amazing baked goods. I am a sucker for scones, and the pear, walnut and goat cheese scone hit the spot! Plus the pour over coffee was delicious! I normally don’t care too much about fancy coffee, but this was good and even my unrefined coffee palate could tell.
The atmosphere is so unique! They have updated since my last visit with more tables. It was crowded, but I can see why with all the deliciousness available. I’ll hopefully make it back again soon.

It’s been a little over a week since we moved to St. Louis and had to try this place. We could see it from the highway but it was a recommendation from Pint Size Bakery that really made us try it sooner.
The cappuccino I ordered was spot on. On par with the best I’ve ever had so kudos to the barista.
So why 3 stars? Maybe it was because we walked in 40 mins before they closed that day… but I didn’t get the warm and fuzzies from the baristas. They weren’t unfriendly but they certainly weren’t friendly and outgoing.
Our order consisted of a cappuccino and a latte. I wanted to try one of their pastries but didn’t. Maybe next time.
The ambiance is ok. There’s not a whole lot going on in the shop so I’m glad I was with someone to keep me company.
I’ll definitely be back but I wish I had really received that extra 10% and a smile.

I wasn’t feeling lunch and came here to get a little pick me up. I’ve never understood the novelty of coffee until I came here and fell in love with the hand brew Natural Ethiopian. I don’t think I ever felt so seduce by a beverage.
Comet’s space is a bit small and gets very busy on the weekends, but don’t let that turn you away. The staffs is über cool and welcoming compare to other pretentious coffee joints. Don’t hesitate to ask any coffee-​related questions. They seem to know a lot about what they seemed so passionate about. Also each coffee, served to their customers, is carefully crafted and personalized. Walk in and experience a cup, then you’ll understand why people are buzzing for a cup here.
Also please check out their wonderful baked goods. I like to pair the Ethiopian with a Snickerdoodle.
