Clementine’s Naughty and Nice Creamery is the first and only «microcreamery» in the city of St. Louis. Our ice cream is all-​natural and handcrafted in small batches right in midtown. And like everything I love about St. Louis, my recipes are a few notches above ordinary.

I make everything from scratch, and source everything locally when I can. I salt my own caramel, candy my own pecans & work with a local dairy to produce my proprietary all-​natural dairy recipe. No colors… no dyes… no «mono this-or-that»…no fillers… just 100% natural goodness! You will feel good about & know exactly what you are eating.

Clementine’s isn’t just any ice cream shop, it’s a «Naughty and Nice Creamery.» For my «Naughty» line (guests 21 and over), I have created ice creams with a kick. Thanks to my background in the food world, I’ve successsfully figured out (patent-​pending) how to make wonderfully boozy ice creams that freeze and taste great. Flavors include Maple Bourbon w/​Salted Candied Pecans, Chocolate Stout, Banana Rum w/​Salted Butterscotch Caramel Swirl and more! Vegan flavors too!

My «Nice» line is… well…creamy, hip and different. There are traditional favorites but many more that are unexpected yet familiar… all created to elevate your ice cream experience. Nice flavors include Madagascar Vanilla, Salted Crack Caramel, Gooey Butter Cake, Southern Summer Sweet Corn, Chocolate Heaven, Strawberry White Pepper w/​Balsamic Vinaigrette… and the list goes on!

History

Established in 2014.

From the moment I moved to Lafayette Square, I’ve had a love affair with the neighborhood and this city. The people, the architecture, the restaurants, bars, nightlife… this place has it all. Except one thing. For years I’ve wondered, «why no neighborhood ice cream shop?» Ice cream, to me, is happiness. There’s nothing better than a rich, creamy decadent cone on a warm afternoon with friends, after a night of celebration, or… heck, even for breakfast or before bed. So after lots of soul searching, I left corporate America and created the job of my dreams.

I’ve been eating and making ice cream since I was a kid. Our large blue-​collar Italian-​Irish family had many mouths to feed and extras were few and far between. Since we couldn’t afford to go out for ice cream, Mom suggested we make ice cream at home in our kitchen… hand-​cranked in a wooden chest… and THE Sunday tradition began. We would come home from church, finish our chores and race to the kitchen to make ice cream.

Well…it stuck, and ice cream has not only been an integral part of our family but a lifelong passion and hobby of mine. I think, feel, talk, and dream ice cream… I explore, investigate, experiment, and travel for my sweet frozen obsession.

I love ice cream. I love booze. I love cute shops. Clementine’s has it all and it’s beautiful.
It’s a super small shop located in a very residential area so the parking is a little weird. The décor is very reminiscent of that old-​fashioned ice cream parlor that you’d see in the movies or something, which is really nice.
I can’t remember which flavors I ended up getting but I know that the toffee one is good (though on the sweeter side, warning for those of you who don’t like sweets). I’ve had a couple bites of friends’ «naughty» ice creams, and they’re pretty good.
Also they sell funny T-​shirts about being naughty vs. nice.

Thanks Clementine’s for being a part of our 2015 Unilocal Christmas party at Union Stations Grand Hall. The praline bourbon ice cream was a great way to end the evening of wonderful tastings, I’m a fan and will be in for some of the other flavors you offer.

This place is dangerous. Dangerous in the sense where if I lived closer, I would weigh about 20 more lbs from eating ice cream everyday!
I recently tried their ice cream at a Unilocal event and man oh man, was it good. Even though I’m lactose intolerant, I just couldn’t resist and I’m so glad I gave in!
Their strawberry balsamic ice cream is great. Fresh strawberry flavor with a bit of the aged and tangy flavor of balsamic, then a slight kick of white pepper that you taste at the end. It sounds odd, but I’ve found odd sounding ice cream to usually taste the best!

Shut up, fro-​yo! Get back in your corner, gelato! As far as top notch frozen dairy products go, there is none in St. Louis better than Clementine’s. Cold Stone, Marble Slab, Fritz’s can duke it out for best mediocre chain. (Tower Grove Creamery is a better value of than all of them.) Fritz’s, Andy’s, and Mr. Wizards can fight over best soft-​serve. Ted Drewes is great for its nostalgia and social component, but not its ingredients. Even the highly lauded Jeni’s loses to our hometown competitor.
Off the beaten path in Lafeyette Square, Clementine’s space is tiny. A testament to the demand, there’s more room allotted for waiting in line than for sitting down to eat. (If possible, take a seat to consume your purchase. You’ll feel fancier for doing so.) The décor is chic (black, white, and amply gilded). The staff was courteous and willing to banter on a slow, rainy night.
The options are divided into the pair of eponymous kingdoms: naughty (containing alcohol) and nice (not containing alcohol). The naughty selections are noticeably softer, the freezing point of booze standing in the way, but taste great all the same. The prices are on the higher side of the spectrum and the scoops are not huge, but you don’t need a lot. This is a treat for your tongue, not a stuffing for your stomach.
The selections strike a nice balance between original and traditional, with flavors not trying too hard to be unprecedented. Many of the flavors turn over seasonally to keep repeat customers interested. It doesn’t matter what you buy, though. The quality is exceptional. The fat content is deliciously high. Doubtless, their offerings consist in the main of freshly iced CREAM, not iced half and half or iced skim milk with milk fat added later, or iced cocktail-​of-​scientifically-​concocted ingredients. That’s why you win, Clementine’s.

Little out of the way mom n’ pop place in a neighborhood. Great greeting by the girl behind the counter and super friendly. She offered to let us try anything and let me tell you their ice cream is awesome and home made. Great flavors something different. I had strawberry balsamic vinaigrette with pepper that was amazing. The naughty side has liquor in the ice cream and nice side non-​alcoholic.

I love a good ice cream shop and more so when they add booze to the custard mix! This place is so quaint and special. You can tell that they love to make ice cream. Simply delicious and creamy with lots of interesting flavors. If you are hip and cool like me, you will head to Clementines asap.

I had some family in town and they wanted to go to a dessert place so first place came to mind was clementine’s! We had sample a few before deciding what we wanted. I personally sampled coconut chocolate which is super super rich! rich in chocolate not coconut. I was hoping it to be more coconut. I also sampled salted crack caramel, i don’t know what crack taste like but I felt like it had crystals of salt in the ice cream, in my tasting, a little salty than what i expected. I also sampled Madagascar Vanilla and Park Ave Coffee. I wanted to sample some others but the lady that was helping us seemed a little annoyed with the sampling so I just settled for madagascar vanilla and park ave coffee. I didn’t care for the vanilla as much as I wanted to but I absolutely love park ave coffee!!! it was super delicious! I had sampled some of my cousin’s ice cream which he got lemongrass coconut which was amazing! more on the lemongrass side but super good! my other cousin got southern sweet corn which tasted great! who knew corn ice cream would be a hit! my little 3 year old cousin got the strawberries and cream which he killed! but what 3 year old doesn’t love ice cream! I was hoping to try their seasonal pumpkin but that wasn’t being made yet… hopefully soon.
Overall, very cute ice cream shop! super small inside! I knew that there was a Unilocal event there recently… i can’t imagine how everyone was able to get in the door! just a tightly cute little place. of course enough for an ice cream shop! I will deff. return to clementine’s in the near future! As for the price, I thought it was a bit pricy for the potions but then again everything is naturally made. It was $ 18 and some change for 3 adults and a child.

When I scream for ice cream, I scream Clementine’s.
When I try a new ice creamery, the first flavor I always try is vanilla. That’s right, the first one is plain olé vanilla. My logic is, if they cannot rock my taste buds with a simple flavor like vanilla, then the rest is going to be a challenge. Clementine’s Madagascar Vanilla, not only rocked my taste buds, but it knocked my socks of as well. It is rich, creamy and oh, so yummy.
However, I must confess that I am a big fan of the naughty ice cream. My personal favorite is my favorite cocktail; Moscow Mule. I got so excited when I saw the tub of ice cream labeled, «Moscow Mule». Even though I was excited, I was also filled with doubt. How could they possibly capture the taste of a MM, in an ice cream? After a sampling, I was totally sold. It was like I was enjoying a frozen & creamy Moscow Mule. I immediately ordered a double scoop.
I’m such a bad boy, every time I visit I order from the naughty case. My last visit I tried the Bee’s Knee and again I was totally blown away. I gotta start ordering from the nice side and see what I am missing by being a good boy.

My first time at Clementine’s! Another great choice by my wife who had already been here with her friends some time ago. I am a lover of sweats, and ice cream, and anything cold on a hot day so Clementine’s hit the spot. We each had the three flavored. Mine in a cup and hers in a waffle cup. The maple bourbon ice cream was pretty amazing and my favorite.
The prices are comparable to the other dessert shops and ice cream parlors we have visited so there’s no sticker shock. It’s a small place with only one place to sit but it has a really nice outdoor area that you can hideaway in for as long as you want.
This fit right in between our afternoon lunch at the Greek Festival and drinks at Square One!

Tracy was a real trooper today! She pretty much reinforced my 5 star update.
I tried at least 6 flavored and asked a sum of about 8 questions and Tracy didn’t blink twice, snarl once or quit.
Let me say this «YOU CANT LOSE NO MATTER WHAT YOU CHOOSE.»
I couldn’t pass up the Coconut Chocolate Fudge (don’t get disappointed if it’s not as «coconutty» as you may imagine) the coconut is purely from the coconut milk used and not actual coconut flakes; so it’s not potent. It’s soooooo good though.
The Lemongrass was infused to perfection and paired well with my Chocolate and Manchego Honey flavors.
Lastly, Unilocal was kind enough to extend a hand with 1 free topping. I took advantage of the Salted Pecans. Couldn’t have topped my creams off any better but next time I’m trying the Pistachios.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for quite some time. I finally got a chance to try their ice cream last night and this place definitely lives up to the hype… so much so that I came back tonight for ice cream again.
What I really like about Clementine’s is that they have really unique flavors, including booze-​filled flavors. I’ve tried the Park Avenue Coffee inspired ice cream, the Strawberry with Balsamic Vinegar and White Pepper, and the Toffee Butter Brickle. The Toffee Butter Brickel is probably my favorite, but I also really liked the other two flavors as well. I wanted really badly to try their take on an affogato, but they didn’t have the right dish in stock for an affogato so I didn’t get to try it (bummer). My sister tried their Mint Chocolate Stout and their Maple Bourbon. Although I thought the alcoholic taste was too strong, she really loved them both. You can get their ice cream either in a dish or in a cone (both regular and homemade waffle).
The place itself is pretty easy to miss, but you should be able to find it if you turn at Sqwires (heading toward I-​44) and go down a few blocks. The place itself isn’t that big, but there are a few places to sit inside and outside. You can also do what my sister and I did, which is to get your ice cream and then take a nice stroll around Lafayette Park.
Overall, a great find for ice cream. I most certainly will return again in the very near future.

I’m so excited to have a new ice cream place here in STL and I’m so excited that yesterday I finally got to try it!!!
I would put this ice cream in the same category as Jeni’s and (if you’re familiar with KC) Glacé. It’s gourmet, made from high quality ingredients and it’s all about creative and unique flavors.
My husband is crazy about their Gooey Butter Cake Ice Cream! So I got one scoop of that with one scoop of Toffee Butter Brickle in a cone. Two cones cost us just under $ 12. Definitely on the pricey side, but I’m willing to pay that for good ice cream. This stuff was perfectly creamy and smooth and melted in just the right way!
It should be noted that they sell their ice cream in two-​scoop increments. The small, is two scoops. The large is four scoops. The scoops are definitely bigger than the tiny ones you would get at Jeni’s, but they’re small compared to Ices or to Jilly’s.
I’m really excited to visit again and see what new flavors they have to offer!

I was hoping to give this place 5 solid stars but two things sorta bothered me about my first visit… One, there were 2 folks working but neither acknowledged our arrival. One left the line (behind the counter) and walked between us. She smiled but didn’t say anything. Once we got to order, the girl seemed friendly and excitedly told us we could sample any of the flavors. I tried 2 and my partner did the same.
I like the atmosphere and I like the naughty and nice concept of their flavors. I did 2 scoops of the naughty (naughty means alcohol). Banana Rum. It was good but NOT exceptional. The Maple Bourbon was a hot mess and the girl told us they mixed it wrong and so it didn’t have the consistency of ice cream… it was sorta like melted ice cream. Oh, that was the 2nd part of what I didn’t like about this visit. If you can’t sell it as ice cream, don’t have it on display. The girl offered it in a cup but who wants to eat «melted ice cream?»
As I paid for our order, I was excited to try what we ordered and told the girl I was tweeting with someone about when they would open, then the girl was on her phone. At first I thought perhaps she was the one who tweets and was going to show me something on her phone but she didn’t and instead had her head buried into her phone. I stood there for a second confused about what just happened.
I’ll give this place another shot cause I like ice cream and I love unique flavors of ice cream but I hope they can coach their staff to focus on the customer experience!

What is there not to love? Besides the lack of air conditioning on a hot summer day, this place is incredible. A small corner building turned home made ice cream shop.
We came in after reading a fellow Unilocalers review of the place and immediately was impressed with the wide selection of ice cream. The lady working behind the counter explained that the left side was alcoholic and the right side was non alcoholic and allowed us to try as many as we wanted.
I tried the peanut butter chocolate and gooey butter cake from the non alcoholic side and the banana rum and chocolate milk stout from the alcoholic side. All 4 were delicious, but I stuck with a scoop of gooey butter cake and a scoop of chocolate milk stout. The ice cream was creamy and delicious! I love that it is all made here in St. Louis with St. Louis ingredients.
We will be back! I want to try the maple bourbon!

I looove ice cream. When I was pregnant, everyone asked my cravings and ice cream was it. And still is despite having my baby. Now that I think of it, it was before getting pregnant too! But I digress… I heard about this place and planned a night out around having it for dessert! It’s an easy walk if you’re eating at a Lafayette Square eatery (which we were). It’s a little off the square and quieter. Has a nice cute patio and was surprisingly busy for having been open a week at the time.
We were greeted by the very friendly staff and offered many samples. I stuck with the «nice» flavors. They were all delicious! I ended up getting the after dinner mint and the toffee flavor. They explained to me that the toffee in the ice cream was the owner’s mother’s recipe. YUM!
We all got the small size, which comes with two flavors. It was enough and I thought the price was fair for the quantity and quality. The waffle cones smelled divine but I stuck with a cup. Others had the cone and raved — next time I’ll get it.
It was divine. So creamy and delicious. I’ll be back for sure to have more! Something tells me that it’s only going to get crazier here as the word gets out!

Officially my favorite ice cream parlor… ever!
I feel like everything was so well thought out. From the website to the flavors to the décor. Everything just screams super-​premium, and well it is!
There are both naughty (boozy) and nice (non-​boozy) flavors. If you want to sample or buy some of the boozy stuff, make sure you have your ID because they will check.
There were so many delicious sounding flavors that I felt like I wanted to try them ALL. The clerks behind the counter were very helpful and knowledgeable the flavors and allowed my wife and I to try multiple flavors. I really felt like all the ones we tried were really great. The flavors were much more complex than other ice cream parlors I have been to. We ended up getting the Grand Cru size, which is basically the large (5 scoops). We got the Olive Oil Lemon Verbena, Decadent Coffee, Strawberry with Balsamic and White Pepper, Gooey Butter Cake, and Front Porch Mint. I would say my favorites were the strawberry and the verbena. Though 5 scoops didn’t look like a ton of ice cream, don’t let it fool you. The ice cream is very rich, creamy, and dense. It was just the perfect amount for my wife and I to split.
A lot of the flavors are flavor creations with local St. Louis businesses, like the gooey butter from Park Ave and the Old Fashioned from StilL 630. I just really love that this local business is partnering up with other local businesses to «bring a whole new experience to the familiar flavors» we love. (I stole that from their website: P)
We also got a chance to talk with Tamara. She was very friendly and really passionate about her new business. I could tell that she really cared about the customers, welcoming each and every one of them when they came through the door. She even took the time to explain what a microcreamery was. She used the analogy of a microbrewery, but of course it’s a little different since we’re dealing with ice cream. Microcreameries make more than 16% butterfat ice cream and have to be small-​batch, hand-​crafted, and all natural ice cream with less than 20% overrun. Overrun, she explained was the amount of air whipped into the ice cream. Most typical ice cream producers have much higher than 20% overrun.
I’m just so glad that Tamara decided to open up such an amazing ice cream parlor in St. Louis. Yet another reason I love St. Louis. I will definitely be back and will spread the word!

This place is awesome. If you already have a sweet tooth and are feeling adventurous, you MUST stop by here.
The «boozy» ice cream flavors are legit, and the other classic flavors are delicious. While the smallest size you can get is $ 4.50, it is actually two scoops, so you can try two flavors.
I obnoxiously tried most of the flavors available, and I loved the moscow mule, key lime pie, olive oil lemon verbena, and sweet corn.
The vegan flavor available is coconut based, but chocolate. My only request is that the owner expand the vegan selection, because all of the lactose-​intolerant people would love her forever.
The flavors on the website are not completely up to date due to quick turnover of flavors at the shop, but it should give you a good idea.

Oh my goodness, Clementine’s is wonderful. A chance read of Sauce Magazine’s spot on them brought me here not totally realizing they’d only been open a week. Old fashioned flavored ice cream just sweetened the deal. Literally.
The little shop is cute but obviously it’s the inventive flavors that bring people in the door. If you’re prone to indecision, this will be a challenge. The good news is that there’s no limit on how many free tastes you get.
I went with the old fashioned and a boozy banana that was incredible. Don’t forget to add the salted candy pecans.
While we were eating, the owner Tamara chatted us up. She was super nice. Come get your fancy ice cream on and bring your eating pants. See you there.
