The Island Frozen Yogurt

These guys are great. They have delectable beverages AND are awesome about keeping they neighborhood clean.
As someone who lives in the neighborhood, I have seen their owner and employees regularly out sweeping the street of trash. The best part is that they’re not just sweeping in front of their shop but are in fact sweeping everything within 250 feet of the shop or so.
This is a great neighborhood business that I will continue to support.

As a Californian, I love my fro yo, and I miss Yogurtland more than I can express, but The Island hits the spot well enough. Many of the flavors don’t quite reach what they proclaim to be, tasting instead like nondescriptly sweet frozen stuff, but that’s what the sample cups are for, and the flavors rotate frequently.
The toppings selection is pretty nifty, including a range of crushed candy bars, fruits, cereals, cookies, cookie dough bites, brownie bites, and more. But who am I kidding? Half the time, I get fro yo as an excuse to load up on cookie dough bites anyway, so The Island pretty much had me sold on that.
I’ve never tried the boozy slushies, though, because I live so close to Trops.

If you are wanting actual frozen yogurt, I recommend not going here. Please. Try Tutti Frutti, FroYo or Orange Leaf. If you are wanting something like ice cream but not really and frozen yogurt that really isn’t, be my guest ;)

Was excited to try this place as the reviews look good and I’ve heard great things from friends. Unfortunately on Saturday November 7, 2015 they were CLOSED for the season ALREADY! I don’t know of one other frozen custard place in STL that’s already closed. Plus the Unilocal page says open. Frustrating!

I visited on 9÷19÷15 and enjoyed my selection of Butter Pecan, Brownie Batter, and Madagascar Vanilla.

The Island is great. I am genuinely shocked that more St. Louisans do not frequent this place. Why go wait in line at Trops and be forced to sit there and finish your drink, when you could stop in The Island and take a nice frozen drink (I prefer the Arnold Palmer) with you for a stroll around Soulard? Their frozen yogurt is top notch, too. Their employees are always friendly and helpful. I think big things may be on the horizon for this joint.

Make sure you go at least 20 min before they close… We come here all the time and the ice cream is great, but this is at least the third time we have showed up to a locked door 20 min before closing time… frustrating :(

Love this place. Always new flavors, super friendly staff, and great chairs to hang outside without a care in the world. I wish I had a dog just to buy it their doggie icecream!

I LOVE this place. They always have yummy and different flavors. The toppings are fresh and they have a huge variety. The employees are all very friendly and quick to offer you several tasting cups. I love this because many places only allow one tasting, if that. This sounds silly but the spoons are super cute and add to the experience :) this is definitely my favorite frozen yogurt place in St. Louis!

As someone who doesn’t normally eat frozen yogurt over traditional ice cream, I can honestly say I will be coming back to The Island whenever I have a craving for something sweet. I had a mix of chocolate milkshake and yellow cake, and topped it with fruity pebbles (which I have not been able to find at any other Frozen Yogurt place in town!) and reeses. Yum.
The frozen yogurt did not have the low fat taste, and when I requested nutella the girl working said they would have it the next time I came in!
I would definitely recommend The Island to anyone who listens!

Living only a few blocks away, it was only a matter of time before I made my way to The Island Frozen Yogurt! Having previously lived by Flying Cow when I lived on SLU’s campus, I had high expectations and The Island delivered. I sampled the Pink Cupcake (personally a little bit sweet for me), the Chocolate Milkshake, & the White Chocolate Macadamia flavors and ended up getting the Madagascar Vanilla & Mint (which ended up being my favorites of the night!) Overall, a good variety of flavors and toppings with a warm & fun décor. I will definitely be back!

The Island Frozen Yogurt is the only place you can get premium frozen yogurt and feel like you are castaway on a tropical island absent of worries.
For real. The decoration here is go-​big or go-​home. Check out the photos linked to the Unilocal page, it’s priceless. Enough with that, onto their yogurt.
I always feel as if my friends drag me to frozen yogurt places i.e. Chill, FroYo, Red Mango, etc. None of them really seem worth it to me; they all TASTE low fat or like the flavor batches were mixed incorrectly. These weird tastes always make me regret getting anything. If you have experienced this but want some solid frozen yogurt, then The Island is calling your name!
I had a mix of the chocolate and birthday cake. It tasted like I was eating REAL frozen yogurt/​ice cream. The flavors were full and satisfying. PLUS they have all the toppings that those other chains have & some.
If you are looking for some good frozen yogurt check out The Island – you won’t regret it.

I definitely toe the line on The Island.
I will frankly admit to you that The Island Frozen Yogurt is seldom my first choice for sweet treats. However, I can’t deny that this place does a great job, and the yogurt is absolutely wonderful here!
After dinner and errands, we decided to take a trip to Ted Drewe’s for a little dessert. Unfortunately, they have closed for the season, something that I tend to forget around January-​February. Dejected, I went to one of my default treat places, The Island!
I don’t want to sound unappreciative of this place. I am never disappointed with the product. I am especially never let down by the service. The people are helpful and generous with samples. The girl gave me two small cups to test out the flavors, and this really helped me make my decision.
I chose three different flavors: peanut butter, banana, and yellow cake! The flavors all blended together nicely. However, I am terrible at picking out toppings! I went with strawberry pop rocks, Reese’s pieces, graham cracker, and candy-​coated chocolate chunks. All and all, the concoction worked out just fine!
Even though I don’t normally set out for this place, it’s always a pleasure when I do get a cup of its frozen yogurt. Therefore, The Island is a great place for something cold and sweet, especially when things start to thaw around Soulard.

Good variety of flavors and super nice employees, what more can you ask for?
Notable flavors are banana, chocolate milkshake, and fruit loops. The first 2 are delicious mixed together and fruit loops is just an awesome flavor, very unique!
I want to try some of their other flavors (rootbeer, island colada, and marshmallow) but unfortunately it’s like a 30 minute drive for me so I only really go here when I am in the area. Definitely a solid choice for frozen yogurt when a craving hits!

This place was amazing! We just came here on a whim.
$.40 an ounce this is the cheapest i have yet to find.

They have a frequent froyo card which is great :)
They do not have a ton of choices, they only have 4 froyo machines so only 8 flavors at a time, alot less than say orange leaf. Great location, 15 minute parking outside too. There is outdoor seating but on a hot day its like an igloo in side you will love it! TRY IT… you know you want to :) We will be coming here every saturday after visiting the farmer’s market down the street.

I had hoped eating at The Island Frozen Yogurt would transport me mentally to a place that doesn’t so closely resemble my life, but alas, it did not. If putting a grass «roof» over a froyo dispenser and a plastic tiki torch in your patio tables constitutes island getaway, I’m 30 bucks and trip to K-​mart away from having a tropical apartment. Oh, let’s not forget the Israel Kamakawiwo’
olé Pandora station.
What truly made this place a vacation from reality, though, was the service. Greeted by an adorable and constantly smiling 20-​something, with baby cheeks and perfect teeth. Now THAT is what I’m talking about. If I worked somewhere that I got a discount on frozen dairy desserts of any kind, the smile wouldn’t vanish from my lips, either. Coldstone tries too hard with making their employees sing to you for tips. Lame. Give me the laid back, happy to be there, happy that you’re there Island Frozen Yogurt employees any day of the week over that mess.
They have some interesting flavors, but the consistency and flavor are NOT as good as FroYo, in my opinion. It was less firm, and more… artifical? tasting. I know everyone on here is 5 starring the shit out of it, and I bet most of them live in Soulard, too. If this place were two doors down from my apartment, I’d be 5 starring it, too.
Oh, and claims that it is cheaper than FroYo? Yeah, by like 4 cents an ounce. Which means you are going to save… like 30 cents. Score.
To Summarize:
–Island theme doesn’t make me think of an island, but only reminds me that I’m a fatty addicted to ice cream and living in the bowels of Missouri.
–The yogurt is good, but not the best. But I’ll take yogurt that’s close to me and not the best over yogurt that is far away from me but the best any day.
–Parking lot, great service, and oh yeah, great service.
–I’m going to be Grand Duke of this place soon. Don’t tell my diet.

I really dig on this place. I came here originally for Mandie M.‘s UYE but since it was on a Tuesday, I didn’t really have time to stop and try the ice cream since Sean wanted to get out to Westport for trivia night. I vowed to return! The shop is really cute btw. It used to be the old Paste crafts… and while I do lament the loss of a really adorable little local craft business, I can definitely welcome the awesomeness that is The Island. I keep wanting to call it Frozen Island, btw. I’m glad that Unilocal App is smarter than I think and autocorrected it for me, hehe. *retardation*
Tried three different samples: Madagascar vanilla, chocolate milkshake, and wedding cake. Honestly, the vanilla was the BEST. Like Steven B. raved about – the flavor is so intensely vanilla which makes my mouth water just thinking about it again! I only put a tiny amount of frozen yogurt into one of those big cups in the interest of not wanting to get sick after eating two rolls at Kabuki earlier, LOL. I also added a small amount of wedding cake too since I really liked the flavor but I would have felt ill if I got it only. So I mixed and matched. I hope that’s allowed. *frozen yogurt n00b*
Oddly enough I really don’t like FroYo or any other type of frozen yogurt place. There was one or two places I tried in Orlando that I really, really liked, but all of the St. Louis frozen yogurt places are totally unlike those places so I was hesitant to try The Frozen Isla – AHEM – the ISLAND. But I am SO glad I did. Oh, yeeeah. Nilla wafers + strawberries + vanilla = heaven! I also tried a few cheesecake bites, and some mini M&M’s, and animal crackers too. But yeah, now that I know my heavenly combo is vanilla and nilla wafers and strawberries, I doubt I will want to try anything else! Oh and the staff is super friendly and nice. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and offered sample cups. The water container is hella cute too as well as all of their décor. This was a smart move for Soulard and I hope it sticks around!
I will SO be back!

When I first entered The Island, my eyes immediately went to the large dispenser containing clear refreshing liquid with thinly sliced cucumbers floating inside. I jokingly asked, «is that cucumber infused vodka?». The jovial cashier, gave a hearty laugh and informed me it was «just water». I have to admit I was disappointed, but once I sampled and filled my bowl with Froyo I was whisked away to a tropical «island».
Those big chain Froyo shops have nothing on The Island, in fact The Island has them beat with flavor, toppings and customer service. I’m a purest, I like my yogurt plain like my flavored vodka. I like to experience their true flavors to the fullest.
My «island» experience included; Madagascar Vanilla, Root Beer Float and Cheesecake. The Root Beer Float was as if you truly were having one, except it was all yogurt and no soda. If you crumbled up some graham crackers with the cheesecake, you’d think you were eating the real thing. However, the Madagascar Vanilla was my favorite, it had true vanilla flavoring. Even as a child my favorite ice cream was vanilla, I guess old habits are hard to break.
I also grabbed some Banana FroYo to go, we had a neighbors birthday to celebrate when I got home from this UYE. I forgot to mention this was a UYE sponsored by Miss Soulard herself, Mandie M. If it were not for her, I would have never discovered this delightful yogurt shop. By the way, the banana went great with a chocolate cake.

Finally! Soulard has a Frozen Yogurt shop! I am more than excited; I am ecstatic! I remember meeting Jason (owner) back in October and I didn’t believe that the day would actually come where I could walk out my front door and walk up the street to get a tasty treat! It really happened; he did it! Jason is my new hero!
It is my understanding they will be open 11 – 11 every day of the week! YES! This just made me so happy. The frozen yogurt reminds me of being in a tropical paradise! If I need a vacation I know where to go. I’m pretty sure they will change out the flavors frequently but tonight I was utterly impressed with the choices:

Bunch of Bananas (my personal favorite)

and finally Hawaiian Coconut
I bet after reading this list you want to jump out of your seat and visit the Island Frozen Yogurt don’t you? The toppings are just as they should be; fruits, candies (my persoal favorite-M&M’s), cereal (coco pebbles and sometimes fruity pebbles too), and cookies/​cookie dough. The fruit is purchased at the local farmer’s market so we know it is fresh and locally grown! Of course they have whipped cream and chocolate syrup! It was a perfect treat!
Tonight I was told that they will start offering punch cards, but they do not have them right now. Also, it is 40 cents an ounce; that’s cheap!
Check out the pictures for the business as well. I posted a few from inside the shop and as you can see the place is just as tropical as it should be! If you’re ever in the neighborhood you really should check this place out. It’s getting warm outside and Fro-​Yo is just the treat you might need to help cool off.
