Specialties

At Siostra (which means «sister» in Polish) we focus on Polish Pottery, but also carry Lithuanian Candle Houses, Italian Pottery, French Linens, and handmade items by local artists. Polish Pottery is handmade, hand painted in Boleslawiec, Poland. This is where the special white clay deposits are found. This strong and sturdy stoneware has been made since the 1300’s and is coveted for it’s durability, excellent baking properties as well as it’s beauty.

Each piece is safe to use in your dishwasher, microwave, oven and freezer. It is scratch and chip resistant, super easy to clean and absolutely beautiful! There are hundreds of patterns available and each are loved and appreciated for their strong and vibrant colors which are crafted to compliment each other. Whether you mix and match the patterns, or like to stick with your favorite… «You can never have too much Polish Pottery!»

The Polish Pottery makes wonderful gifts and is fun and easy to collect, share and use. What will you pick out today?

History

Established in 2012.

Opening a Polish Pottery store in 2012 was a dream come true for owner Katheryne Morschl. She first fell in love with Polish Pottery while her husband was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany with the US Army. Several times a year a group of ladies would take a chartered bus to Boleslawiec, Poland to purchase the pottery. During these trips she was able to meet the artists, see how the pottery was made, as well as shop! She quickly fell in love with it all. Since returning from Germany back to her home town of St. Louis, Missouri, she had been dreaming of opening a small store in the Historic St. Charles area selling this unique yet highly functional pottery. Finally, after 10 years of wishful planning, and a little push from her Polish grandmother, she took the leap and opened Siostra. «Siostra» is Polish for sister, the name inspired by Katheryne’s 4 sisters who were a huge help and support for getting her started.

Meet the Business Owner

Katheryne M.

Business Owner

Katheryne is a mother of 3 boys and has been married for 15 years. Her husband was stationed in Germany with the US Army shortly after getting married. When she returned from Europe she wanted to share her love of Polish Pottery with everyone. Although she studied Civil Engineering at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (UMR to those of us older alums), she decided to open a small retail store on Main Street in St. Charles selling this amazing pottery. When Katheryne is not at Siostra, she loves to spend time with her family, cook, quilt, camp and simply enjoy life.
