A rare treat, time with my college-aged daughter, took us to the Crooked Tree for coffee. She ordered an iced coffee drink and a lemon poppy seed cake. I selected a latte. My happiness? Almond milk! I have weird dietary requirements now. I’m not trying to be trendy; my body just isn’t cooperating. So finding a warm, soothing beverage that won’t cause later distress was quite the toe-tapper. I asked for a dash of vanilla. Yum! Service was good. Our drinks were tasty. My daughter would have liked hers sweeter, and once it’s iced, it is hard to get sugar to dissolve. But she still enjoyed it. The lemon cake was a bit dry. It was early afternoon and it had been sitting in the display case since??? Not sure if they make it fresh or what. Flavor was good. Atmosphere is nice but rather dark. There’s a difference between lighting that says«relax, enjoy» and«we could be hiding a bit of dirt or wear and tear». There is only one spot with a love seat and coffee table area. It would be nice to have a couple more comfy chairs. If they spiffed up the food on display, and probably the food served, along with brightening up the place to say welcome rather than«watch out for the clutter», they could easily get to 5 stars.

Great place, great coffee, great service and food. All the vegan non GMO negative reviewers should take a hike. This place rocks. It was our first visit and we will be back. If you want Vegan go to a different place. Don’t bash a establishment because of their choices.

They have a great variety menu and every item on it is just delicious. Good quality coffee. Clean and organized. Reasonable price.

This is and has been my favorite coffee shop in St. Charles for going on a decade. The food and drinks are delicious(especially the chai latte, my favorite), the service is always friendly, and the atmosphere is very calm and relaxing. I highly recommend Crooked Tree to anyone looking for a good place to pop in.

Still have drain flies. We have been going here since they opened. The Monte Cristo is very good, but I moved away in 2013. That was the last time we went. My mother being in food service all of her life told them back in 2013 that they had a drain fly problem. She suggested pouring bleach down the drains every night and covering them until morning. First time back in 3 years on a warm February day, and we were swarmed by drain flies.

Owner is crabby, almost like he’s mad you’re there. Coffee is inconsistent — sometimes awesome, sometimes awful. The baristas definitely need training and when you complain about a drink it shouldn’t be a crime. Food is usually great — as one small business owner to another — we need you to succeed! Please address the issues!

It’s 9.45a on Sunday and this is the 2nd time we’ve been here and they are out of quiche. Crooked Tree has been our«go to» on Sundays for some time now, but I also see they are going to charge for wifi. I guess we’ll try Picassos or the Bike Shop. Maybe they«get it».

Come here every time my husband and i come into town. Usually good experience, came yesterday americano was perfect. Today the espresso shot tasted like it was over extracted making the americano have a burnt taste. Also ordered Bob’s Big BLT it was tasty but i saw no L(lettuce) so i was slightly confused. Server seemed distracted. Still like the place just not consistent.

Very disappointed! Still not one vegan option on the menu. Crooked Tree owner and employees. Take a good look at the reviews and suggestions from your customers, might help your business.

Since writing my first review I’ve been back to Crooked Tree twice and tried the food along with coffee during my trips. During my second trip I opted for a breakfast option and got the Monte Cristo Crêpe, which was everything that one would expect in a Monte Cristo dish — sweet and savory combined in harmony to make one filling and wonderful meal. This was accompanied by a Mocha Almond Roca coffee that was superb. My mom and boyfriend were along for the second trip and they each got their respective coffees(my boyfriend got the Orange Leaf once again, and I can’t remember exactly what my mom got, but she enjoyed it). They ordered a Breakfast Quesadilla a Club Wrap and the only complaint was about the wrap not having much substance to it. The third trip was with my mom and sister where we ordered from the lunch offerings, this time my mom and I ordered coffees from the specialty menu — she got the Gingerbread and I got Santa’s Nut, my sister opted for the Soy Boy. As for food, I ordered the Mandarin Chicken Salad, mom ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wrap, and my sister got the Ranch Chicken Melt. All three of us loved our respective sandwiches and their wrap game was redeemed from our previous impression of them lacking. I will say the Chicken Salad was exactly what I want in a Chicken Salad, simple, with chunked(not shredded) chicken breast, and the sweetness of the mandarin oranges and crunch of almond slivers on top leave nothing to be desired. My rating is staying at a solid four-star only because whenever I went to order a coffee to go(The Snow Angel) I expressly said that it was to go — fifteen minutes later the barista is walking around asking tables if this coffee is for them and I catch her and say that it’s for me and was supposed to be to go. I’m understanding that sometimes it’s hard to hear or communicate an order, but after waiting for quite a long time for my coffee I was left a little grumpy. It was a simple fix — and whoever the barista was(I wish I had her name) is always friendly and creates wonderful drinks, by no means was it her fault.

So, my wife and I have been here a few times. Its near a doctor’s office that we go to every three months. I wasn’t going to write a review, but I read some reviews that didn’t seem to give the whole story. There was a two star review of someone who even admitted he hadn’t even been visited the Crooked Tree(really???) First of all, this is not Starbucks or a larger chain. If you are a McDonalds, Walmart, JimmyJohns kinda person, go to Starbucks. There is nothing wrong with that… if you want national chain businesses with no individual flair. The Crooked Tree is a small local business that provides delicious food and drinks. They have a cute but small seating area that has both traditional tables and chairs, along with a couch and a couple comfy lounge chairs with a low coffee table for a more casual experience. The staff has always been friendly to me and my wife, and more than helpful when we have had questions or if something in our order wasn’t correct.(Happened once, small thing, and was rectified immediately with an apology and a smile… not an attitude.) I have found that they have a tough time keeping up with the coffee, but did we mention that there are six different options(eat your heart out Bread Co, that has the same four options. ever…always.zzz) that change occasionally to keep it fresh and are self serve so you can get as much as you want when you want. Maybe that is why they run out… the coffee is that good. The food has always been delicious. I saw one review say that they are way too gourmet. Really. The Breakfast Sandwich sounds like a fancy dish you would only find in a remote Italian villa… wait no. It’s a choice of bread and meat with egg and cheese. They have pancakes, a cheese omelette, Cinnamon French Toast… yes, very gourmet if by gourmet you mean basic delicious breakfast food all day. And they have many more options. Lunch has Chicken Club Wraps, Salads, Sandwiches(including a dish only found in the most remote parts of Tibet, invented and perfected by blind, albino Tibetan monks, the Big Kid Grilled Cheese… Gourmet, seriously) They do have Crepes… those are kinda fancy. And they have French Onion Soup… that’s, um, French. Its a great place to eat, chat it up with friends or read or write a book, draw, or just contemplate the meaning of life. I would give them six stars, but they don’t have enough gourmet options for me.

Preface: I’ve never actually been to Crooked Tree Coffeehouse. However, I did call there to ask two simple questions: Are you open? And do you have wifi? I am a pretty chipper fellow and like to exchange common courtesies, but when you can only manage to say 3 words«hello, yes, yes» to a potential customer and not even say«goodbye», then I want no part of your establishment. Customer service is important, even on the phone. I called Picasso’s right after this incident and they were 1000x more welcoming. I went there, and could not be happier.

We ordered an iced chai latte which was amazing and a hot mocha. The mocha was not so good, too strong of coffee. They also served breakfast and lunch type food. They delver from 11−4pm. The coffee menu was fairly large. The specialty coffees looked delicious! We will definitely be going back though! A great littlw place right next to lindenwood university. Overall Satisfaction: 7⁄10 Taste: 5⁄10 because of the mocha Price: cheap Environment: small, homey feel. Very welcoming. Service: 10⁄10 he was very nice and made conversation while he made our drinks

Fast service good food and friendly staff. A good place for brunch, but seating is limited when a little busy. Cute mom and pop shop. Great coffee and service. They serve breakfast all day! Could use some spring cleaning!

The Worst in everything they are doing. First off it’s dirty. Dust on everything in the dining area and the kitchen floor always looks dirty like they don’t move anything to sweep/mop. The last time my wife and I went here a new employee made our drink wrong, it looked like muddy water instead of the mocha it was supposed to be, then argued with one another on who would remake it. I had ordered a regular coffee and cinnamon roll to which they said«we will warm it up for you and bring it out. I said«sure» and took my cup and went for my first of five air-pots(including decaf) and they were out so I went for my second choice, out. Third choice had grounds in it, so by default I had the only non decaf left. I realized I didn’t have my cinnamon roll yet so I asked for it and the barista pulled it from under the counter by the register. It was the most suspicious place to keep it and we didn’t eat it. Also saw a dead cockroach on the bathroom floor, so there’s that too. Quick recap: cockroach, coffee grounds in coffee, suspicious food, thin and muddy latte, smug barista.

Pros: Food and coffee was pretty good. Neat atmosphere. Employee was very nice for how overworked she was. Cons: Needs to staff more than one employee. Owner sitting at his computer does(while his single staff is slammed) does not count as two staff. Owner is smug, not friendly. Place is dirty; floors, windows, behind the counter. Bathroom could use some TLC.

When I attended LU, one of my greatest pleasures was a trip to Crooked Tree for a cheese quesadilla and a Georgia on My Mind peach smoothee. This was shortly after I discovered the cheese quesadilla as an alternative to grilled cheese when ordering from restaurants. I ate lots of them. My friends and I would sit in the back by the books and board games and hang out for an hour or so. I checked their website. They still have Georgia on My Mind. :) Guess I’ll be back soon!
