Holiday Isle Oceanfront Resort

The location and view was perfect. The gazebo and short walk to beach was so nice. The pool area was one of the nicest oceanfront I’ve seen and what appealed to my kids. They ended up not swimming because the pool was not heated and the water was FREEZING. The ocean view rooms were very out dated… the bathroom especially. Noises don’t bother me but may bother someone else this hotel seemed to have paper thin walls. I could hear walking, water running, showers, suitcases rolling across floor, our refrigerator made a knocking sound. Little things that are not a big deal and may just have been overlooked, there was no trash can in bathroom and the cleaning people didn’t re-​stock the coffee, cups, creamer for our second day. I know they are renovating so I would come back if the room was updated and in warmer weather when the pool would be warmer. Definitely 5 stars once it’s updated!

It’s Ok. Just somewhere to spend the night. Very old hotel, a lot of construction going on. It does provide access to beach. Affordable.

This was a last minute reservation for 2 nights. Room was very clean, free internet worked great, staff is polite, beds were really comfortable. I brought my own pillow since the last hotel we stayed at in Ft. Lauderdale was so bad, I could not use the pillows… I did not even take it out of the car this time. In room fridge, microwave, and coffee pot. Love the «quiet hours» from 11 pm-​8 am. The only issue we had was the huge pot holes on the left side parking area, luckily we did not hit them.

The rooms stinks and very UNCLEAN and UNHYGIENIC.
Had to book last minute and was happy to have a ocean /​beach at walking distance.
The moment I entered in the room, there was a stink and it was like pee. It seems the bathroom curtains have never been washed and the stink was unbearable. The toiletries and towel quality is really bad.
The bed had all types of hair including PUBIC hair and it was GROSS. Tha carpet seemed never to be clean and impossible to walk bear foot.
The only good thing about it was that the beach was at walk able distance. For $ 87 per night, this was really not commendable as its not a small amount.
The room service was quick when asked for extra towels.

I really enjoyed my stay here. Rates were great with the AAA discount. The rooms were very standard but they were clean and had everything we needed. i think we also had one of the updated ones as they had clean, white linens, large flatscreen, and granite counters in the bathroom. We got a partial ocean view room for about $ 80/​night. Just steps from a great part of Saint Augustine Beach and only about a 10 minute drive to downtown Saint Augustine. Seriously can’t beat that anywhere in the area. Honestly, we didn’t spend a lot of time in the room anyway. The poolside bar had good drinks and food too. Only downside was the pool closes at dusk, which is around 6pm in November. That was kind of a bummer, but I would definitely stay here again if I’m in the area.

People are way to hard on the ratings.
I completely understand that at a hotel or resort hotel you want what you want and you deserve it. However you have to consider what you are paying and the location.
Could this hotel be a lot better with the right group of people providing excellent customer service? Yes!
I stayed right after Labor Day weekend. September 7−14^th paying about $ 630 for a partial ocean view all seven nights. That’s pretty damn cheap. One of the cheapest places to stay in the St Augustine area.
On arrival I was told that I would have to wait because the room wasn’t yet ready. A short 5 minutes later it was ready.
After a couple hours the room was still not cooling so I called the engineering department to come take a look at the A/​C unit. He was able to replace, yes replace, the unit with a working one in under 20 minutes.
The room was clean. The door to the balcony was a little stiff and hard to close. (It’s a hotel, by the salt water and sand– for everyone’s rust issues) I even saw that someone complained about the door to their balcony on the third floor wouldn’t lock. (NINJAS)
The linens are dated. Pillows dated. Beds dated. As I said before, clean though. Housekeeping staff that I encountered was nice.
I was not impressed by the front desk staff at all. Huge let down. Impacted my review significantly.
Elevators are ridiculous on the weekends if the hotel is full.
They have a pool and tiki bar. Staff at the bar was great. Came around asking if everyone was in need of anything. Pool could have been cleaner. The towels by the pool should be large and comforting. Not small and thin.

Having worked in the hotel industry, I would recommend more team meetings and include additional training. With the right guidance a team should be able to make the stay behind a dumpster a fantastic experience.
Overall I would definitely give this place another stay.

My fiancé and I visited St. Augustine for a weekend staycation (we’re from the Orlando area). We arrived a little early and were pleasantly surprised when we were allowed to check in and landed an ocean front room! As the weekend went on, I found myself frustrated with certain details. First of all, what constitutes a «resort»? A poolside bar? The pool is alright. We had fun despite the fact that it is average sized and lacks a Jacuzzi. Not to mention the lack of a poolside bathroom! You’re expected to walk to the lobby to use the restroom. You know what that means… more pee in the pool than usual! Sorry, but it’s true. We were also excited for the live music in the“lounge”, which turned out to be a joke. Friday night and it was absolutely empty. Downtown historic St. Augustine is about a 20 minute drive and that proved to be a good time. As far as the rooms go… they were average. Relatively clean despite the questionable body hairs found once the sheets were folded down. The elevator (yes there’s only one) is soooo slow! Also, even though we had an ocean front room, we were located right across from the ice machine (which is in the hallway, not its own room) and it would wake us up at night and in the early morning. The paper thin walls also made afternoon naps impossible.
Overall, we still had a good time. This place is ON the beach with direct access, so you’re really paying for location. Just don’t expect a resort experience.

$ 120/​night for being on the beach isn’t bad at all. A slow ice machine is the only complaint I had. The staff is friendly and my room was clean. I recently stayed at an oceanfront hotel for $ 320/​night and it was disgusting and falling apart so I was very pleased with this hotel.

If you want a place that has no amenities this is your place! What was I thinking???

I should have read the reviews on here before I made reservations at Holiday Isles.
This «motel» is a flee bag. You will need to make sure you are up to date on your hepatitis and tetanus vaccines if you plan on staying here. I feel lucky checking out without getting bed bugs or lice, or tetanus from this so called «resort». We got a «deal» on a room for 2 nights and that so called deal was $ 107 plus taxes and a 20 $ pet fee. This place is worth no more than $ 50 a night regardless if it is pet friendly or not. We could not wait to leave this disgusting place.
Rust on all fixtures, rust on doors, peeling paint, scratched and rusty tubs, tiles not clean, air conditioner rusty and falling out of the wall, the list can go on and on. Do yourself a favor and drive past this place!

Absolutely hideous.
This «hotel» was a glorified motel at best. They proudly display their 1 AAA star on the counter. When we arrived the parking lot was completely empty, I went inside
To check in and there were no other guests in sight and the two ladies at the
Counter didn’t look up until I said «excuse me». They checked me in and gave me a partial ocean view room which I paid 120 $ for. We took the elevator up (which is in the back of the building) and the second I stepped in I wanted to
Throw up! It smelled like armpit and sewage in there!!! I held my breath every time I had to use the elevator!

This is all acceptable for a motel not an «oceanfront resort», so please get it together and either upgrade this place or call

Check in staff was great, the beach was perfect. The hotel does not look like the photos. It is old and run down, elevator was ridiculously slow, the stairs were creepy, the coffee pot broken and the outlet sparked when we plugged it in. There were power bars everywhere. The bathroom smelled sour. I felt I had to wear flip flops in the shower. We stayed one sleepless night. Thank goodness we found another place to stay.

Stayed here for 2 days. Not the most impressive hotel I have stayed in BUT if you have a need for something, like light bulbs for your lamps or batteries for the TV remote control they are at your door within minutes. Check-​in is at 4pm and the hotel is BUSY so you may NOT get into your room at 4. So don’t show up at 1230 and start complaining at 405pm that your room is not ready. Just because you show up early doesn’t mean we are going to start the party early Just For YOU!
Laundry room had several washers and dryers… Unfortunately only one dryer and one washer was working.
I would give Holiday Isle 3 stars if we didn’t have a serious issue with breakfast on our first morning. I think the cook may have either quit or left. Our waiter «bless his heart» was having a hard time keeping up with the 3 or 4 tables he had. We were there for about 1 ½ hours. Food was cold, apple juice was watered down, our waiter didn’t know how to make hot chocolate. When I told the front desk about the problem in the kitchen they didn’t seem t concerned. $ 40 bucks for a meal that was inedible just «ain’t right»
BUT it really is a short walk to the beach and right down the road is Salt Life restaurant that we went to twice!!! In the other direction is Publix and dunkin donuts.

This hotel is ok.
We booked it as a last minute get away online.
The best thing the hotel has going for it is the location.
The pool is okay sized– but freezing! But man oh man the ocean! It has a private entrance to the ocean which is a huge plus!
Hotel: definitely outdated. BUT doable. Our AC worked well– shower was fine and towels ok quality. Nothing special here
Tons if parking. Friendly staff.
We didn’t eat at the hotel so no comment there.
All in all if you aren’t looking for anything special this place will do just fine.
It’s about a 10 – 15 minute drive into the heart of St Augustine
We had a toilet over flow at 11pm and maintenance came within 5 minutes to fix.

My first experience driving up to the hotel, we were not impressed with the outside view for the price that we paid. The parking area has a lot of holes that need to be fixed.
We paid $ 170/​night for an oceanfront room. Apparently, these are the most expensive rooms in the hotel. Why in the world would you put an ice machine and soda machine right in front of the rooms… Every time someone came for ice or soda, of course, the noise would wake us up!!! If this sounds like an issue for you, you might wanna stay away from rooms ⁵³⁴⁄₅₃₅ and the nearby rooms. Same on the rest of the floors, most likely. Floor 2 for sure.
The bathroom we found to be clean, upgraded, although the floor looked disgusting in both bathroom and bedroom. Those carpets need some serious cleaning or better even a replacement!!! The towels are old and disgusting!!! The bottom of the bath tub was messed up, it was gray.
The beds are comfortable but all the pillows in our room were about a foot long. Believe it or not!
Our room came with a fridge that was rusted on top and hadn’t been defrosted in a long time. Well, at least we had one.
The elevators have got to be the slowest in the world!!! Took us about 10 minutes at least to get in it and downstairs from the 5^th floor.
The ocean view was amazing, though. The only good thing. Although the balcony door was rusted.
The tiki bar was not open once in the whole weekend, we assume due to the weather. And the pool looked very dirty.
They bill you as soon as you check in and charge your card the full amount.
Overall, this hotel needs some serious remodeling and upgrading. Definitely would not stay here again.

Kinda dumpy and room were being redone. I would not pay summer or peak prices. They said we had a partial view of the ocean — yes leaning over the balcony!
The carpets were old and ripped and the cement floors were cracked.
No «free» breakfast here!

We stayed here from December 14^th to December 16^th 2014, booked thru Expedia, and got an amazing deal for our money. We didn’t even needed to pay for the reservation, they took the reservation, and we paid with cash when we got there.
The Hotel is located at an amazing spot, with private entrance to the beach. We got there, and the gentleman at the front desk told us they had upgraded up to a room with a refrigerator and a microwave. Woohoo!!!
It was really cold to use the pool or the beach, but we did went for a walk at the beach with my husband, at night, and it was delightful. Can’t wait until we get to comeback during the hot season!
We all got to relax and enjoy the short stay, we took very hot baths, beds were super comfortable, good service, very clean. Overall, it’s great for families that are on the go, and want a hotel that is clean and comfortable.
Will be definitely staying there again next visit to St Augustine Beach.

I purchased a deal through LivingSocial for a weekend stay. Unfortunately I was very disappointed. The place is completely run down. The walls are entirely too thin! I could hear people walking in the hall and people in the room next to me. I read a review that mentioned this prior to my stay and they were spot on. You don’t really realize how extremely annoying it can be to hear other people’s interactions until you experience it. And that I did!
There was blonde hairs in the bed, that definitely didn’t come from me! (Gross)
And I suppose it’s great for those with pets to come across a pet friendly hotel but walking through the halls with people and their large dogs wasn’t very pleasant. Definitely wouldn’t stay here again but the location was very convenient for the attractions that we visited.

–Mostly clean it is older so some dirtiness is expected.
–Close to so much putt putt, food, historic sites
— pool is clean and good size.
–kid friendly.
CONS:
–Room kind of small for my family
— no microwave
–no bathroom by pool have to go back to room or lobby.
–in our case they were an hour behind checkin time and our 4 pm checkin turned
into 5 pm checkin.

My oh My where to begin? Shall we start with the VERY few goods?
Okay so the shower water is Hot! So thats a plus.
The pool is decent, but no hot tub.

AC in the room gets the room cold!

Okay so here’s where you really want to pay attention…
This place is super run down! The shower is literally falling apart
The hotel nickel and dimes you at every turn. Want a fridge? Shell out an extra $ 11 per night. Want breakfast? That will be $ 10
We had to wait Entirely too long for new towels to be delivered to our room, to the point we just didn’t shower after getting in the pool, and went into town for dinner.
Every time you go outside the doors lock behind you, so don’t forget your key…
Anyways. If you’re looking for a bare bones, no frills, lay your head down and get out hotel… This miight be for you. But even you could do better. Good luck!
