For a great Vietnamese restaurant on Stockton Blvd., look no further than Thien Phu. With the exception of the spring rolls, which I found to be somewhat bland(disproportions of noodles, and herbs), everything I have had here has tasted fresh and delicious. Their pork chops and broken rice are fantastic, their Phở is satisfying, and their goat dishes are interesting(think lamb but a little gamier with crushed peanuts and spring onions). You can probably find a cheaper Vietnamese joint down the street, but you will not find one as clean as Thien Phu. It’s truly a Stockton Boulevard gem.

Awesome food and superb service. What more can you ask for? With so many phở restaurants on Stockton Blvd., some may miss this spot. Thien Phu is tucked in the corner of a shopping center that looks a bit outdated than the newer developed ones that are further south on Stockton. If you don’t want to miss it, it’s right next door to the aquarium and diagonally across the street from Smart & Final. In my opinion, the phở broth is a little on the sweeter side, but always consistent and quite flavorful – no fish sauce, hoisin, soy sauce, etc. needed for this phở. My boyfriend is a big fan of goat and Thien Phu offers a few special goat plates. He ended up getting the grilled goat plate which came with two kinds of sauces, a bed of greens, and rice. I don’t like goat all that much, but when I had a bite, it was surprisingly better than I imagined. The goat didn’t have that«gamey» taste and I think it’s because it was well-marinated or basted. The goat is sweet, savory, and topped with sesame seeds. The reason I give this place my rating is because their food tastes great, the price is reasonable, and the employees were all really nice. Thien Phu is really clean inside; no sticky tables or floors whatsoever. The addition of the employees’ pleasant demeanor all made for a welcoming atmosphere. I’ve been to several phở places and I don’t think I’ve ever been treated as well as Thien Phu’s employees have treated me.

I came here for dinner and got a bowl of phở. While I was waiting for a waiter/waitress to take my order, a man that looked homeless came in and asked for a to go menu. The waitress said«No, sorry. We don’t have any to go menus.» The guy then said«Can I see a regular menu?» She proceeded to say«No. Can you please leave?» First off, that’s so rude. Just because he looked homeless, it was unnecessary for the waitress to discriminate him and ask him to leave. That’s poor customer service and that should not happen. She should get fired because of that, but guess what, there’s more to her nasty attitude and poor customer service. So when I got my phở, I noticed that there was a bug in my phở. I got a hold of that same rude waitress and told her. She told me «Oh really? I’m sorry.» And I told her that I will not be eating my phở anymore and she had the nerve to say«You already took it out. You can still eat your phở.» UHH excuse you. Do you even care about your customers and the sanitariness of the restaurant?! You should NOT be telling your customers to eat something that has a bug in it. I mean shit, why don’t YOU eat it? I’m so done with this place. If you don’t want to experience something like this, then don’t come here. Rude ass waitress + discrimination + don’t care about the health of their customers. No thank you. I hope the department of health catches the unsanitariness of this restaurant soon.

First time trying this place out and their Bun Bo Hue is bomb. Broth is not to salty like most other restaurants on Stockton blvd. The broth is very flavorful with a good amount of noodles and generous meat toppings. I also added beef balls to my noodles which was also very good. Definitely does not have a whole lot of MSG in it which is a plus. Service here is great, no complaints. Our waiter came around often to replenish our drinks and also checked up on how we were doing.(This type of service is not expected at any restaurant on the Blvd!) This restaurant also is very clean and spacious with lots of seating available. Will definitely be back!

Very nice service. The place itself is okay looking, I liked how there was a lot of sunlight from the windows compared to the dim litted Vietnamese places I’ve been to before. Their thai tea was on point. My friend and I got P2 and P4. The soup came very hot and everything was pleasant to eat and delicious. But as our soup got colder it became very oily. So eat fast lol. While paying my friend and I were told that everything was homemade even the thai tea and how it was brewed there and not from the bottle. Will be coming back to try their goat entrees and for more thai tea!(:

+ THEPHO Shared a P11, Phở Dac Biet, and it was pretty good! The broth was very flavorful and had real beef bone taste, rather than full of MSG. The noodles and meat tasted very fresh. It had all kinds of meats, including tendon, beef balls, rare steak, and much more. However, the large size is not as big as you’d think because I tried sharing it and it was too small for two people. + RICEDISHESANDVERMICELLI I only had a small bit of this but it was very tasty! My dad had ordered the pork with rice(C4) and the pork was perfectly grilled. It wasn’t overly salty and had even a sweet honey taste to it. I also tried a bit of the vermicelli with egg rolls and pork. Like the rice plate, the meat tasted delicious and everything was freshly prepared. + AVOCADOSHAKE SO delicious. Rich and creamy avocado taste. Perfect compliment to the great food here. + THESETTING I’m a big sucker for clean restaurants and this place was very clean and tidy! The utensils are nicely wrapped in a napkin within a paper bag, which is given to you at the time of your meal. Unlike most Asian restaurants with dirty floors and tables, this restaurant was surprisingly very well kept and in pristine condition. I’m so glad I found this restaurant and I will be back soon!

Just had a fabulous meal here with my sons. DELICIOUS! You must try the goat ribs. AMAZING! My son enjoyed the goat curry soup. My noodle soup was very good. Appetizer of fried tofu was quite tasty. Great and attentive service. The place is very clean inside which is really important to me. We will definitely be back.

I was here on Saturday night 30 minutes before they closed. And all I have to say is the hype is real. The Bun Bo Hue is no joke here. I really wanted to see why people keep ordering this and now I know why. Everything about this place screams 5 stars. The place was clean. The food was outstanding and the service was on point. At this point there isn’t really anything negative I can say about this place. What I do know is now I have a place to stop by before heading up to Reno or Tahoe.

After reading the reviews I wanted to check this place out since many Vietnamese spots on Stockton Boulevard usually don’t get more than 3 stars. When I walked in I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the place. We were seated right away and a server came with our water and menus. This service is not something you usually get in a restaurant on Stockton Boulevard so it was a nice change. I ordered the the bun bo hue and my husband ordered the phở. The flavor of the bun bo hue was pretty legit. Compared to what my mom makes, it lacks a little flavor and spice but is the best I’ve tried in Sacramento so far. I loved all the meats that they included in the dish but was not in love with the large amount of noodles they put in there to fill you up. On the other hand, the phở was just okay. It was super duper oily and did not have that much flavor. My recommendation is if you are craving soup and you go here, you should just stick to the bun bo hue.

Restaurants that serve Phở are not anything like the Cheesecake Factory. I hate the Cheesecake Factory. I love restaurants that serve Phở as long as they have all of the following things: Friendly service. Plenty of seating. Clean tables and floors. Quick preparation. Delicious Food. Thien Phu Vietnamese Restaurant has all of these things. Therefore I give it 5 stars. Drop the pretenses, we all just want to eat good.

This was probably the best service I’ve ever received at a Phở restaurant. The staff was really nice. When they brought us a side of noodles instead of the side of rice we ordered, the server changed it with a smile which is unusual for an Asian restaurant. Sorry to generalize but that’s the truth 95% of the time. The fried egg rolls were delicious. They tasted like large lumpia. I couldn’t get enough of it. The Bun Bo Hue was different from the ones I’ve had in the San Jose area. This one was a lot less spicy, had a real strong flavor of the fried onion & garlic and was extremely oily. It was too oily for me to drink the broth. I ate all the noodles and liked the noodles. The goat curry tasted good but it was too rich to consume the whole bowl. It was like drinking coconut milk. The goat was right on the cusp of being tough. It wasn’t super tender like goat should be after long, slow cooking. I think it is a delicious dish to order and share between 4 people but is too rich for one person to consume. The atmosphere is a typical phở restaurant but the service was exceptional and the staff was really nice. If you don’t mind your food to be a bit rich and oily then, this is a really good place to go. The flavors are good and the prices are very reasonable. The only reason I can’t give it 4 stars is because I don’t like my food quite that oily.

Need a reason to come here? Goat curry soup. I’ve never seen goat outside Indian restaurants and decided to give this place a try. It comes with a side of vermicelli noodles. There isn’t a whole lot of goat but enough where I was full from the goat, noodles and a little bit of veggies in it. All of their goat dishes are $ 12 which is pricier than other items on their men but I say it is definitely worth it. The goat is nice and tender and the broth isn’t bad, I wished here was a tad more spice from the curry and a little more heat would have made this dish better in my opinion. This place is easy to miss since the plaza isn’t well lit at night but don’t let it stop you from coming here. People who work here are super friendly and the owner is really nice. Definitely will be coming back here to try their other goat dishes!

There are so many good Vietnamese restaurants in this area, so why should you come here? Goat curry! I’ve never seen this at any other restaurant so I ordered it the first time I came here. It came with a side of rice noodles and two special sauces from the kitchen. I’m not easily impressed but I was blown away. The second time I ordered the same thing and it was just as good as the first time, Plus their Viet coffee was spot on(i.e. not stale like the places that make it ahead of time). As for other items… their phở is good and their bun bo hue was just average but I have to give this place 5 stars for trying something new and having friendly service.

Thien Phu is a pretty new restaurant. The staff is super nice and friendly. We were greeted right when we come into the restaurant and seated at our table. The restaurant is big and clean. We came here a few times during non-peak hours like at 4pm today. And the staff was cleaning the floors, so was seating their guest on the opposite side. I love a clean restaurant, everyone can make a mess and I don’t want to step on it. I don’t like it when my shoes is sticking to the floor either, you won’t have that issue here or with the tables either. Also it look like the restaurant can accommodate large parties. It look like it can have parties bigger than 150 people. The food was delicious. The food is cooked to order. Since we been here a few times, we have ordered the pork chop rice plate with a fried egg, bun bo hue(spicy noodle soup) and B2: grilled pork, shrimp egg roll vermicelli. The pork chop was nicely cooked and hot over rice. The pork chop wasn’t too fatty and it dry at all. It was very moist. The noodles in the vermicelli wasn’t hot, it was serve at room temperature like its suppose to be served. I like that they gave me enough of the veggies(lettuce, cucumber, bean sprouts, & mint) inside my bowl. The egg roll was crispy, the shrimp was large and grilled perfectly. It was very plump and juicy. As for the bun bo hue, I got a good amount of noodles and veggies on the side to add into my soup. The soup base was delicious, I like how they put the seasoning in a small dish so I can add it myself… I personally don’t like the soup too salty and it was good for me. So I can add as much as I wanted, but it wasn’t spicy enough for me, so I added more spicy seasoning into my soup. However, I can see why bun bo hue eater wouldn’t like to add those seasoning to their bowl, I have friends that used to eat phở without hoison sauce and they said it don’t taste right and that they don’t enjoy Vietnamese food. So after I showed them how I eat it, they tried it and now they go all the time to eat phở and other viet dishes. Overall, I really enjoy this restaurant and would be coming back to try out their other dishes. Also, they close at 8pm not 9pm.

I am a mama’s boy when it comes to phở, so whenever I try a place out I try really hard not to compare it to my mom’s amazing phở. I never heard of this place until earlier today when I Unilocaled to see what I wanted to eat today. Just like some people have said before, don’t let the lack of customers fool you. This place is pretty good. The service was friendly and quick. It probably took them 3 minutes max to bring out my large bowl of phở(I ordered the Phở Dac Biet since I was checking them out for the first time). The broth was hot and tasted pretty good. This is a place worth trying. If I was to go here again I would try their rice plates. I docked them a star though because the quality of the cut of their meat was not that great. Overall a great restaurant! Definitely in my top list in Sacramento with Phở Xe Lua and Phở Saigon.

Ok so tasting is like seeing, so there will be varying opinions. Your gorgeous might be viewed as ugly in someone’s else eyes. Same goes with taste, your delicious might be someone’s else disgusting. Still there should be some consensus as to what is decent or palatable. So I can’t understand why everyone is raving about this place, save a few who thought it wasn’t that good or just plain bad. I’m just had bun bo hue and phở today. Both were teetering between not good and bad. Broth was very salty, all I could taste was salt no bun bo or phở flavors at all. The meat was very chewy, not tender at all. It possibly could have been a off day for them. But I don’t think I will give them another shot. 2 stars for above average service. At least everyone is seeing eye to eye on this. FYI this does not beat Anh Dao, sad to say it but it wouldn’t even beat a cup o noodle.

I’m not even done eating and I need to write my review. I got the B2 bun. Bun has the tendency to be mediocre, but is tasty as a concept, in itself. So that means, when it’s good, it’s REALLY good. This food I’m eating is blowing my mind. Like Phở Saigon, they put their lettuce, herbs, cucumber, and sprouts in a bag, then the noodles, peanuts, jicama/carrot, pork, shrimp, and egg roll in the box with the sweet fish sauce. The meat has, like, no fat or gristle. The shrimps are plump Wow. I’m in love and I’ll be back.

Very friendly service, large portions and hearty authentic Vietnamese food. I just moved from Philadelphia where there was a lot of Viet restaurants so I’m glad Sacramento has its own Little Saigon also. It is located in an nondescript shopping malls and wasn’t very busy when we went. The service was extremely friendly and polite which is great. Apparently, the special dishes here are all made with goat meat which I didn’t have though. My beef brisket phở was made just right and the broth was nice and clear(My viet friend said the sign of a good phở broth is if you can see into the bottom of the bowl and it isn’t hazy). The vermicelli was spot on, good soft noodles and extra large shrimp also. My mom’s broken rice pork chop was spot on, the pork was tender, not chewy. Overall 4⁄5 stars, would have been 5 stars but I’m not a huge fan of goat meat lol
