FOOD Banh Mi Dac Biet: consists of pork, pork roll, and scrambled eggs with cilantro, jalapeños, and cucumbers. I like the addition of eggs but the pork was really fatty and it’s not the same without the paté, mayo, pickled veggies. The bread was good, not too hard, not too soft. 3.5÷5 SERVICE Fast and friendly. 3⁄5 FINALTHOUGHTS The sandwich was good but Duc Huong is still my fave in Sac.

Don’t do the same mistake I did and make sure u check ur order before leaving. I ordered two banh mi thit nuong(grilled pork) but instead they gave me banh mi xa xiu(bbq pork). I even heard give the correct order to the back kitchen so stupidly I trusted I would get what I ordered. I drove all the way from the north side from work for this lunch order and didn’t realize the mistake until I got back to the office. What was worse was the xa xiu sandwich looked so skimpy and plain inside and there was too much of the inedible fatness that was attached to each little chopped piece. I had to literally throw away the entire sandwich… if it wasn’t for the time constraint, I would’ve certainly come back and throw that sandwich back into their face!!!

I pass by this place on my way to work everyday and have been told by many that they have the best Vietnamese coffee in town. I attempted several times to stop for a quick bite but I was intimidated by the crowd outside. Finally, winter time is here and it is too damn cold for them folks be outside at 7:30 am in the morning. Determine to try the Vietnamese coffee, I summed up my courage and went inside this morning. Crap! The crowd had migrated inside. The place was filled with old Vietnamese men(this early? i know) and they all stared at me as if i was some alien just landed on Earth. There was no walking out at that point. I walked up to the counter, ordered myself a Vietnamese coffee and a sandwich to-go. The guy taking my order was even surprised that i was there. Good thing I’m ugly, or else, they would have gawk at me as if I’m a piece of meat. Anyway, after i got my food and drink, i walked out there in a scurry. I didn’t even know what sandwich i ordered, but it tasted very good. It had eggs, bbq pork, and the usual condiments in a Vietnamese sandwich. It was a bit«Americanized» but i liked it. There was a little spin to it that other Vietnamese sandwich places lack. Verdict on the Vietnamese coffee? Drum rolls please… blah! The coffee was strong and bitter which come be to expected from Vietnamese coffee but i didn’t see how it gets the label«best Vietnamese coffee in town». I think Thanh food to-go place has better vietnamese coffee(in my opinion the best in sacramento) and it is 50 cents cheaper. I really liked Lee’s Sandwich Vietnamese coffee but they are only available in San Jose.

Every time I pass by Sam’s Café on Stockton Boulevard the outside patio seems to be packed with people. A closer look and you will find the crowd to be mainly older Vietnamese men drinking their specialty drinks while chain smoking and scratching lottery tickets. I decided to stop this morning for a cup of Vietnamese Coffee and the front tables were packed with elderly Vietnamese men as usual unlike Tango which seems to cater to the younger Vietnamese people. «You do not have to stop talking since I do not speak Vietnamese anyway and I don’t care if you stare at me however, when I say good morning I expect a chorus of good mornings back, after all, with all of the attention, I do feel like the guest of honor.» You would have thought they had never seen a white person before. The coffee was extra strong and extra sweet as Vietnamese coffee should be. They also have breakfast sandwiches but I did not have time to try one. There is a large billiards room as well.
