History

Established in 1967.

When it opened in October 1967, Sacramento Metropolitan Airport served less than 100,000 passengers annually and security screening was still three years away from beign a part of the travel experience. The air traffic control tower and existing Terminal B complex are the original airport structures that continue to operate today.

Terminal A opened in October 1998, kicking off an era of signifigant growth both in terms of airlines and passenger traffic, rising to nearly 11 million passengers in a year.

Central Terminal B is scheduled to open in late 2011, replacing the original Terminal B and welcoming additional growth without sacrificing the ease and convenience that Sacramento International Airport is known for.
