History

Established in 1987.

Richard D. Grutzmacher M.D., a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School. Dr. Grutzmacher completed his internship and Internal Medicine residency at Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. He then fulfilled his Ophthalmology residency at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Dr. Grutzmacher is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Ophthalmology. A fellowship in Diseases and Surgery of the Cornea was attained at Flinders Medical Center in Australia. Following residency and fellowship training, Dr. Grutzmacher entered academic practice as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Washington. He headed the Corneal and External Disease Section for five years.

In 1987, LASIK surgeon Richard D. Grutzmacher entered private practice in Sacramento, California. His practice is limited to diseases and surgery of the cornea, cataracts, and laser vision correction.
