Jerry’s Auto and Towing

If I could have posted a zero, I would have, believe me… This dung filled shop is right on the westbound LIE service road, by Jefferson Ave, and the spot where my battery decided to die on me. Initially I thought I was in luck having my ride quit in me, right in front of a tow shop, only to find out that dying anywhere else would have been better. It’s a AAA authorized shop, so I figured that I could perhaps ask a favor for a 30 second jump start. The first goon I encountered said he couldn’t do it because his tow truck, with a AAA logo didn’t have a jump pack or jumper cables, but that he would find the boss and ask him to speak with me. (yeah, right). After 10 minutes I saw him conducting a B.S. session with another worker inside one of the car bays, so I looked around and found a heavy set guy, who, apparently was the boss of jerrys.
I told him that my ride had died literally 100 feet west of his shop, in a freaky bad spot (a turn lane with rush hour traffic getting annoyed that I was blocking their egress. I get it…). He responded with «that’ll be $ 86 fir a service call». I actually thought he was kidding and said «seriously?, I’m a AAA member and I’m not even 100 get away. I want necessarily looking for a freebie, but $ 86 for 30 seconds of time is a bit egregious, no? Don’t get me wrong, I believe in free enterprise and that everyone should make money, but ripping people off is just poor karma. And I hope he gets his just desserts because I can only imagine that I’m not the first that this guy was such an butt hole to. Anyway he told me to call «f’n» AAA figuring I was going to end up being serviced by him since he’s the closest AAA participating tow guy to where I was…
Anyway, I called AAA and told them I needed help with a jump and to have ANYONE other than these guys service me, and explained what had happened. They ended up sending another provider thank goodness. I told them I had my car with me, just to get someone dispatched.
Truth be told I was on a motorcycle and AAA doesn’t really jump them, but rather tows them for a hefty reward to the AAA tow shop. I didn’t really need this. I only wanted/​needed a jump start.
AAA called twice while I was waiting for their service, and asked if I was on a motorcycle, to which I told them no. Again, just to get someone dispatched for a jump. BTW, The battery on a road king is accessed easier than on ANY car, so no harm, no foul. Apparently the shop owner of jerrys called to warn them that I was on a motorcycle obviously. Certainly I didn’t tell them, but nasty old Jerry must have. Total Richard move.
Anyway, steer clear of this guy as he doesn’t deserve anyone’s money or their business.

The worst experiences I’ve ever had. Lamont was more anxious to move on to be with his girlfriend in the van with him than care to my needs. After waiting over an hour he was in and out without helping me. His so called boss was quick to call me to tell me I was not respectful. He’s in a service business. Well, I feel like I got serviced!

Arrived late and didn’t do the job.

If it was possible to give less than 1 star I would. My fleet company called them to secure a tow and they were incompetent and rude. The driver called to find my location but refused all directions saying that my car «was out of his jurisdiction» there are many other companies to use with much better customer service.

I have gone here several times and always treated very well; great mechanics without the bad attitude! thank you guys.

Did not use their services but they are BAD drivers and tend to cut one off, drive erratically, as if on multiple substances and in general have no regard for human lives on the road. If you want to get towed and put others in danger while doing do, please use this company.

They’re always courteous and always take the car at the last minute. Prices are always reasonable and I never get the sense they’re making any unnecessary changes or fixes. They’re my go to mechanics.

Our BMW broke down, Jerry’s came very quickly, towed car to BMW for repair, professional, prompt service. Whilst at BMW the front tow hood cover went missing, I called BMW, they were rude, said 6 weeks to get one and I would have to pay. When Jerry’s found out they ordered the part, had it painted, delivered and installed at our house, no charge, all with 2 days. Just great company to do business with, honest and courteous.

My tire on my Lexus RX 350 went flat and I happened to be near this place. The guy there said «oh, you need a new tire, we can order one for you, your car doesn’t keep spares» He actually thought we were stupid and didn’t know if my car had a spare or not. They tried to pull a fast one on us.
Then my friend came and helped us take the spare out (which was under the trunk) and before we started to put the spare on he said «GET OFF my property, you have to change your tire on the road» I mean we cant stay on your property for 10 – 15 mins just to change our tire. Forget service, but they can’t even be decent human beings.
I can’t believe a spot like this exists in my neighborhood. Buyer beware, please.
Not that place you want to be in if your tire gets a flat.

Great office workers and they tow great (as long as your going to their shop); however, they aren’t organized as they could be, tried to say my car engine was recked (when it was a blown head gasket) without looking at it and recommended i junk it. They try to sell you a battery no matter what. So unless you don’t mind being taken for ride just use them for tow services.

Do not use!!! Very mismanaged and awful service. I’m very disappointed in AAA after waiting over 3 hours i caught them lying to me and I canceled.

I got to know Jerry’s Auto and Towing when my daughter took a car to school her sophomore year. I live in Chicago, and it’s not easy having your 19 year old daughter 850 miles away at school with a car. Well, my daughter is now a senior, and I would just like to say that the folks at Jerry’s have provided me with peace of mind by always taking care of my daughter’s car with the utmost skill and professionalism. They are fair, honest businessmen and talented mechanics. They were always a pleasure to deal with and they helped make that car last to her senior year. I would highly recommend Jerry’s to anyone. Excellent customer service is not easy to find anymore, but it is definitely a trademark of Jerry’s Auto and Towing!

After having a minor accident, a colleague recommended Jerry’s for the repair. I just got my car back today and they really did a fantastic job! You would never know my car had been damaged. Their work is impeccable and the staff is professional and helpful. I highly recommend Jerry’s!

I was towed by this company through AAA. They arrived quick but the driver charged me for TWICE the miles! AAA covers the first 3 miles of a tow, and anything over is $ 4 and change per mile. I even had the route pulled up on my gps and questioned him when he told me the miles. I never received a tow bill, and I asked if there were any papers I needed. Of course I was told «no». I guess when people see a young woman in distress they think they can take advantage. AAA needs to get new companies on their team.

I’d give negative stars if that was possible. Two experiences, because that’s who AAA sent over. Both were horrible. I waited for hours and hours for a tow and then they refused to come down my driveway. This company should be out of business.

I broke down when my rear tire disintegrated and the AAA sent them to rescue me. It all worked out very well. The gentleman who made the initial service call was very helpful. Since I didn’t want to drive back to NJ on a donut, I decided to drive to their station for a new tire.
Everybody was friendly at Jerry’s and it’s even an Optimum wifi hot spot. They didn’t have my tire in stock but eventually they were able to secure one and replace it for me and I was on my way again.
In retrospect, the price for the tire replacement was high but at the time, I was just glad to be able to get back on the road.

The tow truck driver went out of his way to make sure my car wasn’t damaged and was a nice guy. They saw my car fairly fast. There was no additional charge for additional time to repair because of my car having customizations. I got a hefty discount for paying with cash instead of credit. Best part is they didn’t rip me off because I was towed in and would most likely never come back unless I moved locally. The waiting room is two uncomfortable chairs, so I went and got a haircut while I waited

After being stranded with a flat In suburbia Long Island, BMW roadside told me Jerry’s would be towing me to my dealer 8 miles away. After three hours and multiple lies and phone called they arrived. The guy was nice but looked in a hurry, once my car was up on his truck I decided to head home. I took the LIE west towards the city where I live and saw the tow truck in front of me, wait the dealer is EAST 8 miles… tried calling him– no answer. Called BMW roadside– they said I agreed to have the car stored overnight at Jerry’s because the dealer didn’t have night drop off’s. YES THE DEALER DOES!!! Furthermore, I never agreed to anything of this sorts– after talking with several supervisors and a director of the program the following day– needless to say they will not be getting anymore work from BMW. BEWARE!!!

I didn’t read the reviews until after AAA told me that this would be the nearest towing and auto place. Despite the horrible words used to describe this place, I went. The towing guy had me wait about an hour because they had so many people with problematic cars. The guy who put Ruby (my Ford Taurus)) on the truck was really nice. When I got there, I was greeted by Eric, who took really good care of me, especially after my clearly pretentious father showed up. Over the course of the next few days, my parents and I negotiated a deal wit them. My transmission was destroyed, but they offered me a cash deal of $ 2400 including all work done. I called other places, including the Ford dealership I bought the car from and everyone estimated $ 4,000 to fix it excluding labor. So, I stayed there. Communication wise, this place was a little off, in that they took a long time to get back to me. Every time I called them, they asked me a hundred questions, only to put me on the phone with someone else. I soon became smart and just asked for Eric. My car took a week to fix, but given the damage and the amount of work that had to be done, I completely understood. I had to delay a day in getting it because of scheduling conflicts, but I made sure I was not charged a storage fee.
Today I picked up my car. They then mentioned that my car could use an oil change, especially if I was planning on traveling (which I intend to this weekend). So, where most places would charge $ 20 for an oil change, I paid $ 32 in cash, no tax. Whatever, it needed to be done.
They said my car should be good for another year or two before it completely goes. My car has only a life expectancy of about 9 – 10 years in general. I’ve had it 9.5 years. I’d say if I get another year or two out of it, that would be awesome. But, we will see if their work pays off.

This tow service and the guys working the desk here are great to work with, but you definitely need to avoid having them tow you to Jerry’s Auto Repair, the mechanic there is the worst.
