No matter what time of the day this place is consistently baking there bread and it’s always pack with people ordering the special buy 2 get 1 free. I’m not a big fan of their sandwiches but I am of their crunchy bread. It’s so yummy.

I love coming here! Love their buy 2 get one free specials! There is a nice lady over the counter that always tries to up sell me on eggrolls. I’m a sucker for friendly service so why not right?! Plus the eggrolls are pretty good too! I’ve literally tried everything on their menu and it’s all good. They have a good selection of deserts and sandwiches. Some of their sandwiches even have egg in them! What is not to like about that!!!

This was my #1 go-to for banh mi but I have to drop a star. They bumped up the price twice within a month and it is now $ 3.50 for any sandwiches. The round is buy two get one free but it doesn’t work out when you only want one and it’s totally not worth it. Softer texture but lesser fillings than the regular french baguette. Another thing I find more frequent from these chains are that they take short cuts with the grilled pork(thit nuong). It’s just pieces of pork butt covered in red dye without any trace of shallots, lemongrass and so forth. And it certainly does not taste grilled. It’s possibly the worst sandwich you can get.

Their bread and service were great. The lady at the cashier was really nice ever though it was closing time. :)

I have a weakness for spring rolls. You get three rolls for a little over $ 3 so I always grab a pack or two whenever I come. I could be wrong but I don’t think they make the spring rolls themselves. Be sure to go early because once they’re sold out there will be no more for the rest of the day. I prefer their long sandwiches over the round ones. The egg sandwich is really good but you don’t get any other meat with it, so I usually stick with the special. Cash only and parking can be a pain.

This location is pretty new(I think) & its super tiny. Its in a plaza that has a bunch of stores & a market so parking sucks but I mean — it is what it is. There were two young people working the day I went, a guy & a girl. They were super nice and accommodating. The pâté is so good. I believe its like $ 1 for a small container. Totally worth it & definitely always buying it from now on.

Bad experience at this location because if you don’t speak Vietnamese or Chinese your order will not be correct and they will order for you. Apparently ordering by number doesn’t help either as the don’t know the menu as the numbers are listed or just don’t understand English. The location on San Gabriel and Valley is much better with no nonsense.

Lots of banh mi specials: — Buy 6 long sandwiches, get 1 long sandwich free — Buy 2 round sandwiches, get 1 free — Buy 3 long sandwiches, get 1 free baguette I’ve tried their sister store near San Gabriel superstore and decided to stop here after work to pick up some banh mis. I like this location better because the parking is super easy! Also, it doesn’t seem as crowded as the Valley location. The cashier lady can speak English, Chinese and Vietnamese so that’s a nice perk to not worry about a language barrier while ordering. The sandwiches are about $ 3 and are a bit skimpy in the meat vs. my other frequent banh mi place. The bread is tasty though and their eggrolls are awesome(3 for $ 1.50)! I like that their store hours are longer than some other local banh mi shops and is open everyday.

The store was well kept, clean, bright, filled with happiness of fresh baked baguette. I order a vietnamese coffee, the one with sweet condensed milk. It was not as good as I remembered. I guess I like my coffee bitter sweet, and theirs was neither bitter, or sweet. If you prefer to have less sugar in that particular drink, then this is your place. The line was long but it moves quickly. The worker was very nice and friendly, although like most vietnamese place, they occasionally turn about and yell something in vietnamese. That always make me check my teeth in the mirror quickly – perhaps something stuck in my teeth :)

I may not be a fancy, big city, banh mi eater but this place ain’t too shabby. I’ll definitely be coming back if I’m in the area. Good prices good bread, and good sandwiches. The sardine sandwich was way too pasty and fishy for my taste. However, the combo sandwich more than made up for it. There was plenty of pâté, and the overall flavor was somewhere between sweet and nutty.

This is my favorite banh mi spot to go to. I usually order their combo sandwich which is the traditional banh mi with everything. I like that I can still taste the pâté after all that. They don’t cheapen it by putting less meat. Every ingredient just fits well here. The bread here is soft and crisp on the outside(if you get the round ones) and it’s a deal if you buy three you get one free I believe. You also get free baguette with order of some order of sandwiches.

Great place, quick service, clean, affordable, decent coffee, nice cheerful owner/manager…yet another SGV winner! A sandwich sounds so pedestrian – bread and meat. But you hit the Gold Standard of sandwiches once you add Vietnamese culture, a slavish devotion to fresh ingredients(cucumber, cilantro, carrots, daikon), and insanely fresh bread. And as if it can get any better, Saigon has buy 2 or 3 get 1 free deals going all the time. Sweet. I enjoy finding shopkeepers who are loyal to their craft.

Came here because all the other jie places were closed in San Gabriel/Rosemead. I did not go in so I cannot rate on the service however the jie I got was sour and tasted weird to me so I ended up throwing it out. I would not risk eating sour jie if it contains only red beans and mung bean with coconut milk.

Saigon is nestled the back corner of a strip mall full of fun little stores next to a clothing shop. The indoor of the store is small but welcoming. Tasty treats and baked items litter the front counter and on one side there are a line of cold cases filled with what looked like puddings and jello like confections. I didn’t really take a look, I was on a Banh Mi mission. Three Long Sandwiches to get a free baguette? Heck yes! Two Banh Bao buns for a third free? Done. Really, I only needed one but I had a friend to thank and what better way to do that then with a bao bun? The three long sandwiches I had were the Fried Egg, Grilled Pork and Chicken. The fried egg is Phenomenal like«Holy crap why haven’t I had this before» phenomenal. The egg is seasoned with a mixture of savory spices and the vegetables are perfectly pickled. The baguette isn’t horribly tough, but buttery soft yet still crunchy. If you’re a heat fan then the peppers they use are not your friend. Their mild, crisp, and refreshing. I’m terrible with hot foods, which I didn’t tell the peach of a sales girl behind the counter so either that is the way they serve it or the peppers were having an off day. Either way I was surprisingly pleased. Paired with an iced coffee it was a satisfying lunch. As for the grilled pork, it was yummy too. The pork is more like sausage then the BBQ pork. It is seasoned well but it wasn’t a show stopper. Not like that egg sammie, mmmm eggy eggy sammie. I didn’t eat the chicken, had a nibble of the meat but I would say it’s better than the pork. The chicken is shredded thinly, almost in to small flakes but is flavorful and juicy. It has lots of black pepper and a nice chewy texture. Next, pork bao bun. It has egg and the pork sausage. The bao dough is sweet and chewy with a nice skin. The egg and pork are good but I wasn’t thrilled with it. They have chicken too which I haven’t tried. Snack for later. Oh and did I mention the service was excellent. Yes excellent. The girl was sweet and open to giving me her opinion but not pushy in the least. The best part, besides the egg sandwich, the price: Three Banh Mi sandwiches with a free baguette plus two Banh Bao buns with a free bun and an iced coffee totaled to just under $ 14. Steal!!!

Friendly service(especially at 6am when I always end up visiting). Yummy spring rolls and these little chicken things. The coffee is bomb and always ends up getting me through the second 8 hours of a 16 hour shift. Cash only.

I’ve loved Saigon sandwiches even before this location & it’s that much closer to work now. Yay! Don’t have to drive under the freeway. Biggest tip: GETTHEROUNDBREAD!!! It’s still a french baguette, but so much softer on the inside. It’s perfect. Saigon’s sandwiches are banh mis, Vietnamese style french baguette sandwiches. Sandwiches typically include pickled carrots/radish, cilantro, chili and your pick of meat. Some of my faves include the pork loaf with pâté, grilled beef and grilled pork. They are $ 2.75 each which is a steal and the best part. buy 2 get 1 free! Don’t forget to add a fried egg to make it over the top! They also sell the long baguettes for $ 1 each. They have fridges of drinks and desserts on one side of the store with lots of snacks available like spring rolls and fried egg rolls. This is mostly a to go place because there is only 2 tables. Service is average, they get you in and out. Ice Sua Da Vietnamese coffee is strong! Don’t drink it all too fast, patience matters here. Free Parking right out front is 15 minutes in the green zone, otherwise, the rest of the lot is also available. Totally recommended! Tip: Bring cash!

3.5 stars !!! I am in the area every 6 weeks or so and I always stop by this plaza to go to Harlam’s Kitchen and buy fruits and vegetables @ the Square Market so I decided to pick up a few sandwiches to try. The sandwiches here are yummy and cheap: Buy 2, get 1 free(round) or Buy 5, get 1 free(long). I’ve never had a round banh mi before but it’s really more of a round oval shape(like a torta). I got the most popular #1combination, the #2 bbq pork and #6 chicken which is shredded. They were $ 2.75 each, so $ 5.50 for 3 sandwiches! They also have deals on other food items. When I got home I didn’t know which was which so I ate the one that looked the best first, it turned out to be the #1. The #6 was for DH and he liked it so much, he asked if there was another one. And the #2, I ate the next day: I added my own organic fried egg, more cilantro, and persian cucumbers. It wasn’t as good as #1 but it was still good and very filling… I will definetely stop by here again next time and stock up…

Ah… before Saigon Bakery & Sandwiches, this place used to be a chui-chow noodle restaurant that my aunt used to ask me to take her and she would always treat me for just driving her here. I wish we knew where the location moved to. :( Back on track, Saigon Bakery is located in the Square Market Plaza. I would definitely suggest you all to come by the baguettes early as they come out fresh first thing in the morning and as they are only $ 1 each. I tried their Vietnamese coffee and I got to say… it’s not as strong as I thought most Vietnamese places would it. There are not that many seats inside. I believe this place is known for ‘pick this and pick that, okay lets pay’ kind of deal. Warning, parking can be hectic if you decide to come here 10am in the morning as other restaurants and supermarkets are also attached to this plaza.
