Marv & Mike’s Transmission & Auto Repair

I needed a transmission and they installed it fairly quickly! I was only without my vehicle for two days! My vehicle runs great and I’ve gone back to them at least 3 more time for other issues. They’ve repaired them as well. I’ve finally found a reliable/​fast mechanic shop I can trust and I won’t go anywhere else!!! Thank you… thank you… thank youuu!!!

I was quoted $ 650 for work including front brake work. I declined the brake work and was still charged $ 650. And the back seat of my car was soiled in oily, rusty grime by some careless mechanic. It looks as if the bench was inverted and pushed around on the shop floor; filthy. Never again! Avoid, avoid, avoid.

I’ve been going for years. Very professional. They keep my elderly cars running great.

My right headlight and blinker bulbs were on the fritz due to some water seepage. I had noticed this seepage about a year earlier, the last time I had the dealer replace that headlight bulb. The dealer quoted me $ 400 to replace it. Marv & Mike replaced both headlights for less than that and had my car ready for pickup in 24hrs. Needless to say, I was very impressed.

For the most part I wasnt angry about a lot of things like walking to the metro or not getting the address messaged to me. Im angry about things being omitted.
Yes I do personally believe the way a door is opened isnt a problem. I will not cause and accident from that. I understand the state feels different. I just said you eluded to it. If you just admitted that I would have let it go but instead you argued.
Also if you read the post I admitted there was a minute crack on the windshield. Though the bit crack didnt impair anything from my view it could have gotten bigger and eventually been a problem do I understand why it needed to be fixed. The thing was it didnt need to be entirely replaced. Just a 20 dollar resin replacement kit fixed it. When I lived in kansas a guy at a gas station did a replacement of one of those bit cracks for me in 2 minutes for free. I was in disagreement over the fact you said it would need to be entirely replaced which was much more unneeded money.
I dont know cars. Never claimed to. I look at how people treat me and the easy stuff I understand like the windshield and if something seems off I go somewhere else. If I was treated better. You didnt argue over everything that’s petty when im already irritated over your costs.
I went to another shop closer to my place up by shady grove metro just after and was treated with respect. When I tell them I hate the state they dont argue for the state with me over the phone they even agreed. They offered a shuttle to me regardless of time. They didnt tell me the windshield was a full replacement and recomended the autozone thing and watching a 5 min youtube video to figure how to fix the crack. Ill go back to them and more than anything to do with cars the biggest reason is custumor service and feeling like im not being had.

This place is straight to the point, they answer all your questions and explain what the specific part does and the scenarios that can ensue. Don’t expect the red carpet treatment, their customer service isn’t too notch. But it’s a blue collar, no frills place that says what it will cost and you don’t pay more than that, and they say how long it will take and it takes that long. I did my research and called around and their prices are competitive if not the best. I’ve been here 3 times for different issues and it’s all been top notch work.

My car was wonky for the past 6 months and the last place I took it to was not sure why it was failing on me. (The last place was a dealership repair shop. Stay away from dealership repair shops!)

They are now my official moto repair family. They enjoy sharing car information if you care enough to ask. (I love that because I love learning about my car.) They also stayed late after closing time… on a Friday… to wait for me to get to them from my work, to pick up my car. Plus, due to it being after hours for Enterprise as well, they returned my rental for me. Helpful??? Yes!
They do ALL kinds of car work your brain can imagine and MD state inspections.
I can’t wait to go back when the need arises again.

I am giving these guys two after contacting them for an estimate to get a transmission flush. I gave them all the information I could about my car (year, make, model, mileage, engine, transmission, and maintenance history.) They responded with a quote of $ 250 parts and labor. Now, this price seems fair to me, which is the only reason that they got 2 stars instead of one star. After they gave me this estimate, I asked them if they would draw up an itemized quote so we could finalize the work. I got another email saying «$ 250 parts and labor». By now, I was a little confused because I already knew that the $ 250 they estimated was parts and labor. I was looking for a little more detail telling me exactly what kind of automatic transmission fluid they would use and about how long they thought it would take, plus the cost per quart of the ATF and the cost per hour of labor. So I EXPLICITLY asked for these things (the ATF, the cost per quart of the ATF, the estimate labor time, and the cost per hour of labor). The response that I got was EXTREMELY RUDE. I was told that I would not get a proper quote because he was only estimating based upon typical prices for similar cars. He said that they would use the ATF that the manufacturer recommends (as if that means anything to me! How should I know what they recommend and how much that costs per quart!?) I will quote him directly here: «I don’t feel that an itemized estimate is in order on such a small ticket repair». Well I am sorry that my business is not worth your time! I will be taking my business to one of the other 4 garages who took the time to draw up a nice itemized estimate instead of these people who refuse to give their potential customers the time of day, even if that means paying a little more for the job! Very poor customer service! I recommend that you support one of the many other auto repair shops in the area that will treat you with respect! I think it’s worth the extra money!

I’ve been going to Marv & Mikes for over 20 years. I have never been disappointed. When I married, my husband was a «dealership «person. He finally became frustrated with prices and poor service. I’m glad to be back to using Marv & Mike. They never fail me.

I have taken my car here several times and it is by far the best auto repair shop I’ve ever used in my 15 yrs of driving. They are highly knowledgeable, very reasonably priced and take the time to explain what needs to be done to your vehicle in language you can understand easily even if you know nothing about cars.
The only downside is they are only open Monday thru Friday, but they open early at 7:30 and stay until 6pm.
