My experience was fantastic. 495 Movers was friendly from my initial call for an estimate, the in-​home quote, an the actual move. The estimate was exactly what I paid. I liked not being charged extra for packing and moving materials. They also had the best price. The movers were very careful with my belongings and nothing was lost or broken. The movers finished the move in the allotted time even though they had to use the elevator and travel down a long hallway instead of using the stairs. I will definitely use 495 Movers again.

We have moved to Los Angeles from Washington DC just a week ago. I would like to thank and recommend 495Mmovers for their superb execution and great price. Nate was our initial contact who gave us the best deal and Tom was the foreman who did exceptionally well with his team to pack and move our stuffs. But it was not easy because I had lots of valuables which were fragile and there was a big piano and a pool table as well. These guys managed everything with great care.

Just unpacked some of my things and it wAs packed HORRIBLY. I’m so upset. Things are broken. Paintings are scarred. Furniture is knicked. I’m getting random peoples things put in my house. This is pure chaos and hell moving across the country is hard enough. This is ridiculous
an update. Over $ 20,000 worth of lost or broken belongings and getting basically nothing.
Imagine the most nightmare moving experience you could have. This is it.

I had to move from an apartment to a house a couple miles away (MD to DC). My grandma was sick, and needed some extra help to be able to stay in her home. I used 495Movers to help me move my stuff. They were very courteous, and gave me a flat rate so I knew how much it was going to be up front plus all packing material is free. The movers that came were very gentle with my stuff, and everything arrived at my grandma’s quickly, and unbroken. Overall I am very happy with my experience with 495movers and I would go to them again the next time I need to move. I highly recommend!

I have personally used 495Movers 4 times in the past two years. They packaged my mom’s place up for storage in Rockville, moved my fiancé out of an elevator building in downtown Washington dc to a 4th floor walkup, and then moved my belongings to a new home and also some items to storage, then later, moved stuff out of storage and into my home. I also recommended them to my boss for our office move. Every experience was excellent. Nate was a standout. Cheerful, punctual, efficient etc. I love these guys. They take things apart, put things together, get things in thru windows if necessary. Cannot say enough positive about them. Not one broken or damaged item in all of those moves. Recommend highly.

Can I give NO stars?
After Nate offered to give me the refund I have been asking for in exchange for deleting my bad reviews online, instead replacing those reviews with five-​star reviews, I snapped. I went to Small Claims Court, and the District saw fit to issue a judgement in my favor against 495.
Especially because they never even showed to court on multiple court dates.
Researching my case, I discovered all sorts of irregularities in 495 Mover’s business paperwork: their Registered Agent is a dry cleaner’s in a strip mall on Bladensburg Road, for instance. Illegal? No. Dodgy? Well… I’ll let DCRA figure that out.
Also, be aware that this business also operates as Montgomery County Movers and Bethesda Moving, sharing either a physical address, phone numbers, or COO/​CEO names (not to mention pictures of 495 trucks on all three websites).

My family of 4 adults relocated from 2 different homes and two storage units in Maryland to one new apartment and one new storage unit in North Carolina. We had never had a need to use a moving company before, so I did my research. 495 came out on top and we went with them. I am so glad we did!!!
We had prepacked the things we could, but had two entertainment systems and to computer systems as well as much furniture that we had them pack for the move.
They showed up on time packed everything with great care. When I had any questions or concerns they addressed them thoughtfully and quickly; most of the time it was something they had a plan for handling.
They called me when they were about an hour out from our new location and then again a 15 minutes. Again very considerate so we were ready for them when they got here.
Very polite, and considerate from start to finish.
«The Icing on the cake», They didn’t charge us a penny over what they had quoted. I wrote them the final check at our new home and that was that. I would and have recommended them to friends.

495 is simply the best there is! My coordinator Josh was polite, efficient (called me on a Sunday to confirm a Monday 8:30 AM move), and helpful, and the crew was absolutely fantastic — the were incredibly efficient, also very careful, wrapping things I probably wouldn’t taken the time to wrap, and did their job professionally from start to finish. They were also great guys, good sense of humor, helpful, and responsive — there were three of them, I wish I could remember all of their names (one was Santos), but they were just tremendous.
I will never try to make a major move without 495 movers, and if you’re moving, you can’t find a better company to make your move as smooth and painless as possible.

495 Movers, from start to finish, was excellent! My family recently relocated from NOVA to Asheville, NC and the guys (Tom in the office, Moti, and Freddie and his crew) all held up their end of the bargain (and then some). We saved some $$$ by packing the majority of our belongings beforehand, but we did have some bulky items (piano, bookcases, etc) and the guys took care with everything. Same day delivery (which is crazy! The crew worked super fast!) and absolutely nothing was broken. Move with confidence!

As a renter, I move around a lot. With that said, I’ve gone through a lot of moving companies in the DC Metro Area. After having some pretty awful experiences, I decided to do my homework here on Unilocal to find a moving company with a great reputation. That’s how I found 495 Movers.
This company is top notch. During my initial call, a very attentive representative was able to assist me with a pretty decent quote and reserving a moving date. I even purchased a moving kit from them (about 30 boxes, a tape gun and 12 rolls of tape) which they delivered prior to my move.
On the day of my move, they were early and did all the prepping before taking furniture out. They wrapped EVERYTHING in plastic. When I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING!!! My sofa, dining set, tv’s, you name it. I was out of my old place within 2 hours and in to my new place within an hour.
When everything was done, we went over paper work and the actual total was right on point with the estimate. Unlike other moving companies where my bill usually was doubled from the original quote.
So if you’re looking for a good moving company in the DC Metro Area, I would strongly recommend 495 Movers. Their reputation here on Unilocal speaks for itself.

I have used 495 Movers for my last three moves and each time the service, professionalism and promptness on the day of of the move has been wonderful. My most recent move was this past weekend and Josh was very responsive and helpful leading up to, on the day of and after the move to ensure that all went smoothly and answered any questions I had. The packing materials were included — which saved me a lot of money — and the price was very affordable, and exactly what I was quoted.
The crew that came was very professional, courteous and did a fantastic job. Nothing broke, no scratches — everything went very, very smoothly. It surprises me every time how quickly, yet carefully, these guys can move everything out of my apartment and into the next — navigating often bad corners or tight spaces. Each time I am more impressed and this last time was no different.
I would (and have) recommended 495 Movers to everyone who is looking to move in the area. They will always be the ones I call when I have to move — I’m just hoping I don’t move out of the area so I don’t have to find a new company!

Move was smooth, but long day. The 3 guys were great and very courteous. They worked very hard, didn’t scratch or break anything .
They showed up on time, worked all day, brought lots of extra packing materials, which I didn’t need much, except clothes hanger boxes. Pretty much everything was ready to go, all boxes had been packed, they just wrapped and protected furniture to load on the truck.
Place everything in the new house in the correct rooms, unwrapped the furniture.
For a small to medium size moving company, price was good and competitive. Last local move I used a much larger company paid more and had 4 men verses 3 men and 355 Movers did a much better job than the larger moving company. Not any damage to any items of mine nor the houses I moved from and into.
Would use them again when I will need to move again in the next couple of years.

Provided packing materials for free before the move (and were really nice about it, too!), arrived on time, moved quickly and carefully. Great job!
My only issue, and it’s a small one, is that while I used their boxes and checked which room the boxes should go, those instructions were only occasionally followed. I know many of the movers may not speak English, but I’m just checking next to rooms on a list printed on the box that they provided. Not sure why the movers don’t at least know the order of that list (oh the third room is checked; guess this goes in the living room).

As a small business owner, I appreciate that all of the pricing is upfront and that the estimate is free. 495 Movers does not charge extra for packing materials, so there were no surprises, and his crew are very professional.
