Established in 1941.

Foster Van Lines was founded in Richmond, California by Howard Foster in 1941. The business at that point was a very humble cottage-​industry, which consisted mainly of transporting furniture and luggage from the Santa Fe and Union Pacific train stations in Richmond to accommodate the burgeoning population.

Following the end of World War II, Howard devoted his time to found a premier household goods moving company. The company has grown over time from a very local business to a firm which services all 48 contiguous states with major van lines affiliations.

Foster Van Lines is still owned by the Foster family, and we are dedicated to providing consistently high-​quality service. Whether you need a local move, a move across the country, or if you just need to store items at our warehouse, you will receive the care and dedication to service that we have learned to provide over the past 70 years in business.
