The Front Porch

Wow! All meats come with three sides and your choice of biscuit or corn bread. I ordered the fried chicken with brocolli casserole, green beans, and mashed potatoes. Fried chicken was outstanding. The broccoli casserole was my second favorite thing. I ordered extra gravy too because it was so delicious. Biscuits are to die for. Family owned and run. Fast. I am definitely coming back here!

The location is charming with a huge porch with rocking chairs. The interior is simple, warm and inviting. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. We got in around 2PM and there was still a nice crowd. We got our table quickly and drinks follow quite rapidly. This is NOT health food, so leave the diet at home. It is quincentennial Southern cuisine. Chicken and pork chops are either grilled or fried. The side dishes are called vegetables but fried, creamed, buttered or sauced. In other words: delicious!!! I had the pork chops with fried green tomatoes, mac and cheese and a big piece of one of the best cornbread I ever had. Mother had the mashed potatoes in lieu of the pasta. Portions were huge, I only ate half. Oh, and did I mention cheap? Two huge pork chops (or any protein) plus two side dishes, cornbread or biscuit, for $ 7.99
And worth repeating, the staff was great!

First time coming this afternoon… Food was okay… Nothing special… I think the cornbread was really jiffy mix… What was bad was the service!!! Had to wait several minutes for my okra to come out after I got my food. And sat with an empty cup most of my meal… The kids that worked there were sweet, just very inexperienced!

Great place with a down on the farm feel. Great homestyle Southern cooking. Be sure to get some Chess Pie for dessert! Yummy!

We ordered burgers and blt from country omelet and it was a disaster the food was unseasoned my blt was just like crumbs of bacon, pretty much a joke. We left and went on the front porch and I am so glad that we did we ordered burgers and fried green tomatoes and boy everything was seasoned So good! And the fried chicken and fried pork chop plates I saw looked so damn good!!! And the food here is way better priced! We were very pleased and happy with our meals.

Been Coming here for years, I travel alot and I get excited getting on this route lol, No frills, just great old fashion food, Fried Pork chops are amazing and Fried Chicken, All the sides are great, this place never fails, I recommend if your route is interstate 77 in SC please come here, you won’t be disappointed

Definitely not worth driving from Charlotte for as one reviewer mentioned. It was decent but honostly I stopped because of all the great reviews. I’ll just drive on by to Charlotte next time and try something else. Nothing out of the ordinary. Just the same southern food you can expect at a K and W or lizard thicket.

My family and I have been eating at the Front Porch since the restaurant opened many years ago. We live nearly thirty minutes away and we continue to come here because the food is always good and the service is excellent. This place could teach many restaurant chains a lesson in how to treat customers! In all the years we have eaten here we have never been disappointed in the food or service.

Terrible terrible service. Food was ok. I’ve never felt strongly enough to write a review about a place til now. Sat for 10 min before a drink order was taken. Another half hour for food to arrive and 10 min to check out because no one was at the counter. Nevermind the staff seeing me stand there the whole time. And I had to get up and ask for water during my meal. I am completely disappointed in this place. Don’t waste your time folks.

Great southern food for a very good price. Our whole family ate for $ 35…with plenty of food for everyone. The fried okra, fried chicken breast, and fried pickles were awesome!!! And the workers were all friendly people… sharing the tables and responsibilities between them so no one was left out of great service. They kept the drinks refilled for everyone… although I felt like I had 3 glasses of sweet tea, I realized later that they never let my glass get low before they filled it. :-). I would stop here again.

Normally this sort of place won’t get 5 stars from me, but this place is a model for a country cooking spot. Fried chicken is the best you will ever have. Be sure to have the Fried Green Tomatoes too, also the best. Mac and cheese was very tasty. Okra was crispy and delicious. and the Pecan pie… well, I can’t say how good it is, because you would then go there and eat it all before I could get a piece. Service was very friendly, like you are family, but without the throwing of dangerous implements at each other…(well, if you were in my family, that is.) If you are in the area, you have to try it.

Stopped on a whim as we were hungry leaving Charlotte, heading home to Charleston. Fried chicken was excellent, Mom liked her steamed cabbage and I liked my Cole slaw. We both liked the cornbread better than the biscuit and know for next time what we’ll choose. Family run and they source locally!

Wow, this place has gotten great reviews for the most part, so I am wondering if something has recently changed. I am from the south and definitely know good southern home style food. This is NOT it. I ordered the country style steak with mashed potatoes and fried okra. The okra was very good, but the country style steak was not homemade (tasted like a frozen meal), the mashed potatoes were instant, and the gravy was out of a can. On top of that, it took over 30 minutes from ordering to actually get the food. The people working were extremely friendly and kept checking on us so that gets a star. The other star is for the restaurant itself. A nice little house, small front porch, really had a neat feel. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately I will not be visiting again.

The atmosphere is very homey. The food was a bit disappointing. It was too heavily fried and everything tasted the same.

Everything 5 stars qnd a wonderful treat for me. If you want true southern charm and home cooked deliciousness stop here.

We were looking for a place to meet some relatives today to have lunch in Richburg. Of course I looked to Unilocal to find a great place for us to eat. I definitely wasn’t disappointed. Actually none of us were disappointed.
The place is very close to I-​77, so it’s conveniently located. It’s a cute little country restaurant with rocking chairs on the front porch. It’s nothing fancy but it’s a charming place.
There were five of us and we all got the $ 7.99 meal which included a meat and 2 vegetables. I got the baked chicken with mashed potatoes and steamed cabbage. Loved it! Other food that was ordered was fried chicken, cold slaw, BBQ, fried flounder, french fries, fried okra, and amazing corn bread. I tired the fried okra and the corn bread… So good! I wanted to try the fried green tomatoes, but I was stuffed. I’ll just have to go again when I can.
They offered desserts, but we were all too full to get anything. I did see one man get his dessert to go.
All the food was good. The service was excellent! The staff was VERY attentive. Every few minutes they were checking on us to see if we needed anything.
I hope it’s not too long before I can come here again and eat. I was very glad I picked this place for us all to eat. At least I got some Brownie points with the family. Nobody was disappointed with their meal! Great Choice!

Good ol’ southern cooking! Charlene had fried okra, fried flounder, sweet potato casserole and a biscuit. I had baked chicken, sweet potato casserole, green fried tomatoes and corn bread. Good cookin’ and a country atmosphere.
After dinner we went from The Front Porch to Watt’s front porch to watch the disappearing sun and the lighting bugs.

Drive for more. And the service was EXCELLENT
