we used van today for the first time to do odds and ends, he installed a ceiling light in garage, hung up some art and did some light electrical. van was on time, clean and very knowledgeable. i highly recommend him.

I had originally decided not to write a review, as I did not want to harm Van’s reputation in his post-​retirement profession. However, since Van left my house, I have had to hire 2 more handymen to fix the poor quality work and damage he and his partner did to my home. Once again, I have recently discovered additional wiring issues that have been caused by his poor work, on a switch that I had no problems with before he disassembled it. This is my last straw and has prompted me to write a short review to warn others away from this business.
I had hired Van and his partner to complete a laundry list of items at my home. The list could have been overwhelming to any average handyman, but Van assured me that albeit numerous, they were basic tasks that he could accomplish in «2 days, 3 days max.» His words. Not only was the work not complete by the end of the 3^rd day, the jobs he DID do were left crooked, uneven, needing a second coat, shorting out, etc. Door bell didn’t work, grout and paint overspray all over expensive counter tops, unfinished doorways, shorting switches, paint drips on expensive new wood floors, outlet covers falling off.
Van should have been honest at the start and advised against diving into such a long list of tasks if he was incapable of completing them within the time estimate he promised. He did give me a small discount on the price of the work, but this gesture was not sufficient for what I have paid to fix what he and his partner left incomplete/​ruined. I do not write this review to hurt any feelings, but rather to caution consumers about this service, as I am still dealing with the fallout of hiring them.

Basically, Van is fantastic. He responded quickly to my initial call and got back to me to schedule that evening as promised. He provides detailed information up front and makes sure you know what’s going on. He arrived this morning as scheduled just before 9am and worked without taking a single break until 6:30 that evening. He initially said he needed to leave at 4:30 but ended up skipping an obligation in order to stay an additional 2 hours to make sure the job was finished. The main work he did was to replace all 51 outlets and switches in our home and worked quickly and effectively. It was a ton of work. He made sure I knew what was involved in each job before starting them so that I could make informed decisions. He also provided information on who to call for jobs that he felt were out of his scope or could be better done by another professional (re-​texturing the walls in an entire bedroom and re-​tiling a bathroom floor.) His bill reflected the hourly price he quoted on the phone (less than other guys we called first) and the materials he used. There was no padding or extras at the end. He even went over the cost of each item for accountability. Van is professional, courteous, trustworthy, and friendly. We have a lot of work to do in our home and will be working with Van as long as he’s willing to put up with us! I couldn’t be happier with the work he did and his work ethic. We already have the next work day scheduled. Thanks so much!!!

Winds cracked front fence. Called this handyman thinking they’ll just replace the wood boards… he replaced all the damaged boards leaving no gaps, reinforced the placement boards with heavy duty screws, and a much needed cemented wood post at the end of the fence.

I said I would pay and then he leaves an unfinished door bell ringer unscrewed outside my house.

Very pleased with Van’s Handyman Service– good communication, on time, great work & nice guy. Will definitely hire again & recommend.

Wow, who knew you could find a reliable and trustworthy HANDYMAN on Unilocal?!We have now had Van at our home twice. The 1^st time he replaced a faucet, a toilet, and fixed the light fixture in our kitchen (that had been out for over 2 years). He did these ALL in 2 hours, and cleaned up his mess! The 2^nd time he hung blinds, and replaced an oven hood. Each time he was ON time, and even confirmed with us the night before. Obviously no job is too small because ours were small jobs. He charges $ 45/​hr, which is an AMAZING DEAL for a handyman. He only takes one customer per day, so he books up pretty fast. I was really worried about having a man in my mothers home, who lives by herself. but after meeting Van, you know he is completely safe to have in your home. Now that I have a reliable handyman the possibilities are endless! We already have him scheduled to install a new front door in a few weeks. Another great find on Unilocal

Van is amazing, super nice very punctual, changed the locks on my front door, back door, changed my light bulbs, fixed my door bell. There is No job to big or to small Van can do it all. There is nothing like having peace of mind and know that your repairman/​handyman take so much pride is his work. I will definitely spread the word.

I had van come out and replace my side door to my garage that was broken. He had to take the whole frame out and replace it. He showed up on time and was very friendly. He showed up when he said he would and the job only took a few hours. He took the extra time to make sure that the door would swing closed and latch with very little effort. That was a touch that I thought was very thorough of him. I recommend him. The price was right and the service was fantastic!

Van was very helpful & kind! He fixed everything no problem and quickly too. Great rate too! I would highly recommend him if you ever need any fixing up to do in your home! Will call him again if we have anymore problems :)

Very good guy. Van only work M ~ F, but he came on Sat to fix my door bell, my bathroom vent, and my shower faucet, all within in 1 hours. Just great rate, and great guy. For sure I am going to hire him again. Thank you Van.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Van on several Handyman projects as co volunteers. We donate our time together helping do repairs for homeowners in the Rancho Cucamonga area and I’ve seen Van’s work and it is excellent. He’s experienced, knowledgeable, friendly, prompt and courteous. A great guy and someone I can count on when we need home repairs done right.
