History

Established in 2009.

Founded by 30-​year building veteran and visionary Fred Altmann. Fred has been in Reno for more than 25 years, building approximately 50 custom homes in Caughlin Ranch and hundreds of homes in Reno and the surrounding areas, including Lake Tahoe.

Business Owner

During my 12 years as an educator, I began working in the construction industry as a laborer and apprentice. In my younger years I attended Utah State University where I received my Bachelor of Science and Masters Degree, I have my lifetime teaching and counseling credentials, and several construction licenses.

I originally worked for my father’s construction firm, building homes and remodeling interiors. My first full-​scale building project began in Los Gatos, California, in 1975. Since then, I have developed and contracted numerous custom homes, office buildings, retail stores, and commercial interiors throughout the Bay Area and northern Nevada. My wife and I have been in Reno for more than 30 years, building custom homes in Caughlin Ranch, Reno, Truckee and Lake Tahoe.

My passion for the environment, sustainability, and the great outdoors have paved and made it my calling to found the Better Green Building Company in Reno.
