They re branded as Shogun Japanese Restaurant as of June 2016. Not sure if management or how they do things has changed however. Menu is large, tons of options to order from. Min. on credit card is 10. Delivery was reasonable around 30 – 40 min. Affordable options, portions are large so you get like 1.5−2 meals from a bento box, sushi is filling, nice takeout containers as well imo compared to some takeout places I’ve been too.

Ordered food because every other nearby store was closed. My boyfriend didn’t eat so I had to order ASAP so he doesn’t sleep with an empty stomach. The food was terrible. Shrimp and asparagus teriyaki was gross. I ordered vegetable udon he said it looked like someone added slime to it. It tasted disgusting. $ 28 to waste. Won’t be ordering from here ever again.

Hands down one of my favorite take-out Japanese restaurants! Their sushi is very fresh and they give out big portions. My favorite items from the menu are the sesame tuna, American dream special roll, ika yaki and sushi combo. A must try!

I always get delivery from here and it never disappoints. Delivery is fast & food is good. You also can’t beat the price — 3 rolls during lunch for $ 9.75. They also have a lot of special rolls to choose from. If you’re like me and you always turn to sushi when you don’t know what to eat, give Mado a try! I used to order from Sake but this place is cheaper and tastes just about the same, in my opinion.

I’ve been to Mado a million times as I live in walking distance. I went today and as usual AH– MAZE-ZING! Some of the freshest eel & salmon I have ever laid my pescatarian mouth on. Like Butta from the sea! However. Be forewarned, this spot has close to zero ambiance, but for takeout, or to occupy one of the few tables on the floor, you will love it and the prices are just as good.

We get delivery often. I want to give more stars for the sushi but there have been too many issues. We love the sushi. My dumpling has tried many other items and every time he says«I should stick with just sushi!» We have ordered the 3 rolls and soda or soup many times without too much issue, but… –one time we ordered pick up and they had taken our food out on a delivery(?? Mix ups happen) but we had to wait there for like 35 min, after waiting to pick up at the scheduled time, and pay full price for cold food. It would have been faster and better if they had remade it upon realising their error. –one time they forgot one of my rolls and gave my companion one incorrect roll. I called and they didn’t care. At all. –brought wrong drink and I noticed immediately and the delivery guy just said«oh»(its not a big deal but that is not the way to handle it) –had several simple requests ignored –once the avocado was… fizzy? And the oshinko(pickle thing, normally good) was tasteless and inedible, However, they had forgotten one of my rolls but brought it immediately to my door, before I even realized the error. :) *Several other minor issues, mostly that could have been handled better. Basically if they cared about getting it right and pleasing customers I would have probably given 5 stars. If you’re trying to decide, get the 3 roll for $ 10 lunch. Order online when possible! Nearly every call they have been rude and or forgotten about the call while you can hear them taking other orders. Disclaimer: I do have bad luck and people hate me so that could be a factor. ;)

The food here is getting worse and worse, only order from here if you can’t get anything else. So Chinese cooking. The phone order person, just keep pretending hearing the expensive order, discussing!

This review is for delivery on a Sunday evening. It took 30 minutes to arrive after ordering on seamless even though expected delivery was 50 minutes– a plus!!! The sushi for two($ 34) was very filling and it even came with two orchids as decoration and half an orange– a nice touch. We also ordered the Kani salad which was lacking in Kani, but the sushi made up for it– probably wouldn’t get the Kani salad again. It is an excellent option for take out sushi and I would definitely order from them again! They give A LOT of wasabi, ginger and soy sauce which is greatly appreciated! The delivery man was very respectful and said thank you(I’ve had bad experiences with some delivery guys in the area). Overall, good sushi for the price!

I absolutely love this restaurant. One of the best sushi restaurants I’ve dined at. I will definitely recommend this place and dine there regularly.

This place deserves more reviews as we get delivery from here all the time. Cheap special rolls($ 10-$ 11) and regular rolls($ 5~), as good as your average sit down Japanese restaurant but with better prices. A solid 4 stars for delivery, 3 stars for dining in. It was our first time dining there. The place was small and no frills. They could only sit maybe 15 people at a time. It’s apparent that people don’t usually eat here, with the service. The lady tried though, she refilled our drinks constantly. Although she said we should’ve poured soy sauce when the sushi comes because we might spill it and create a mess(maybe she meant it in a nice way? Hard to tell with the accent) People come and go to get take out, and their phone rings for more orders. I believe they had 3 sushi chefs. They have a HUGE menu, it took us about 15 minutes to decide what to get. Tea was slightly warmer than room temperature, I prefer is hotter. Our salads arrived pretty quickly. We then waited… and waited… for our rolls to arrive. Finally it arrived, and they were yum! Spicy scallop temaki $ 6 Yummy! A generous serving of spicy scallop. Wish the seaweed wrap was crunchy. Valentine roll $ 11 Salmon, tuna, yellowtail and avocado. If you like fish, this is the one for you! Christmas roll $ 10 Salmon and avocado inside, spicy salmon and crab outside. Yum! In conclusion, food is good but if you dine here be prepared to wait a while. And the place is simple and bare bones. Better to order takeout and wait in the comforts of sweatpants.

During the recent blizzard, we realized we were not as prepared as we thought. We ran out of booze and snacks! The horror… We opened up seamless and tried calling several places and they were all closed… Except for Mado. Not only were they open, they could deliver… And they could deliver Sake and Beer to us… Along with a ton of sushi.(Definitely over ordered, that’s what happens when you seamless while drinking). An hour or so later our food and booze arrived. I usually go to another sushi restaurant closer to my apartment, but they don’t have the selection that Mado has. 5 stars for your customer service and menu selection!

I like their sushi more expensive than Sushi 33 per roll. I tried their red curry pad Thai. I won’t order it again. It is supposed to be spicy from the curry instead it was only sweet from the coconut milk. Not the right combination. So it was actually gross. Otherwise their sushi is good fresh and their scallop dynamite is great.

Ordered the sashimi deluxe combo, spicy tuna roll and a few other items. Everything was tasty and portion size was good for the price. A lady called me asking whether I wanted hand roll or maki roll, Maki roll is 6 pieces and hand roll is one piece so I went with the maki. Delivery was pretty fast and really appreciate the phone call so my order can be what I wanted.

Like some of the reviewers, I work from across the street of this place. I used to go over there on a weekly basis. Now days not so much simply because the food and services have gone downhill. Staff was friendly when I last order in December 2015. That was for take out, because my co workers and I stopped eating over there anymore. They are running the restaurant like a family daycare, to me, it’s a bit too much. The owner’s children were running and playing around inside the restaurant. Plus if you pay attention, they don’t have the Mado sign outside anymore, so it’s just a restaurant without a name, and the door handle is also broken. That says something about this place.

I order from this place almost weekly and its consistently good. Not the best place to sit and eat in but delivery wise and food wise they are good. Large menu with decent prices and friendly staff.

I only gave this place a 3 because the staff wasn’t rude(although they were inattentive) and the food didn’t kill me or have me in the bathroom for hours. I ordered the salmon teriyaki lunch box with soup and a spicy tuna roll instead of a California roll. The miso soup was flavorless, even though it looked perfectly normal. The salmon itself was a bit bland and the teriyaki sauce was too thick and goopy(maybe it was old). The vegetables in the teriyaki were cold so overall, it seemed like the food was reheated(not too well, might I add). The spicy tuna roll wasn’t bad, but not good in comparison to the many other sushi restaurants within a 2-block radius. I did want to order fried ice cream but since I wasn’t impressed, I didn’t bother. Also, I was told changing the California roll to spicy tuna was $ 1(which is standard around here, so I didn’t mind) but when I got the bill, I was charged $ 1.25. It’s only a quarter extra so I didn’t make a fuss, but that’s still not the best customer service. Long agyer I finished eating I actually had to stand up and get a server’s attention so I could have the check. In conclusion, although I work across the street, I’m probably not coming back for lunch or otherwise.

I’ve only ordered delivery here before. I work in an office nearby so I would often order the lunch specials from here. The portions are pretty good for the lunch boxes. I would say the salmon teriyaki is probably my favorite. The chicken tastes a little artificial but still good. I’ve also had the pork katsu– it was very dried even with the sauce. Maybe I should try it in the restaurant. I really like the salads they include because of the ginger dressing. The lunch bento comes with a soup, salad, and California roll or shumai. I usually treat the Cali rolls and shumai as appetizers so I don’t expect big portions for them anyways. Maki lunch I think is two rolls and you have the option for three rolls but it would cost extra. The lunch bento box price ranges from $ 7~9 I believe. They have soooo many rolls though. I had them customize one for me before with no issues-but it was pricy $ 4-$ 5 for a hand roll. Make sure to repeat the order or have them repeat the order back to you. Sometimes they will forget some stuff if it was a big order. Like miso soups. The delivery time I would say is about 45mins. The delivery guy doesn’t speak much English. There was one incident where he wouldn’t accept one of the bills because there was a tear on it. So that was kind of awkward. Overall, food is good for the price especially the lunch specials.

Never ordering from here again. First off our order came in half an hour late. Restaurant called because they were out of the flavor of mochi we ordered, so I had picked another one. The deliver man called us and told us he could not come upstairs, so I had insisted him to just come up. His English wasn’t great so I think he misunderstood. We waited several minutes and I called again. His explanation was that he was not allowed to come up, yet at the same time the front desk called and asked us if we wanted him to come up. Immediately after I had paid him cash, he ran down the hall very fast. Should have known because this is a red flag that something is wrong with the order. We ordered 2 orders of mochi and one was missing. The food tasted bland. Shrimp tempura Udon tasted like bitter medical Chinese soup. The mochi was freezer burned. It wasn’t even sweet rice with ice cream, it had a hard plastic like shell. This isn’t even authentic Japanese, instead it tastes like pre-frozen dishes heated up. The only«good dish» was edemame. Overall, we were all very disappointed with our dishes. Reading through the reviews I’m finding majority white Unilocalers giving higher stars and Asian Unilocalers giving lower stars. How hilarious.

The menus are completely wrong and the staff is not knowledgeable. Lunch boxes claim they come with a California roll and shumai, the staff said either or. The menu said soba, it was supposed to say soba. When they get their act together, maybe this place will be worthwhile.

Definitely not a dine-in restaraunt — maybe for a quick bite for lunch. I’d prefer to do take-out or delivery. Came in on a Friday night. It was empty, no music, no décor, almost silent. Definitely not pricey, very reasonable menu. We ordered the Kani Salad, Mango Roll, Fuji Roll, and one other that quite frankly was so average I forgot what it was. The kani salad should be renamed to the cucumber salad with a little bit of kani. The Fuji roll is pretty good and worth a try if you like shrimp tempura and crabmeat. Probably wouldn’t come back to dine in, but maybe I’ll give them another try next time with delivery?
