Derek grew up in the furniture business from his father who had many retail futon stores in the Bay Area. After college Derek worked for Adonis Furniture, a furniture wholesaler for 5 years as a manager until it closure. After a few various jobs Derek went back to retail and opened Sofa Creations. Derek takes great pride in offering good quality custom sofas at affordable prices along with amazing customer service. Been looking for a sofa for two months, went to a lot of places, sat in a lot of sofas. Passed by Sofa Creation stopped in finally saw a sofa that looked great and the wife was happy with how comfortable it was (most important thing of course) so went ahead and bought it. Gave us a discount in regards to online subscriber thing even though they didn’t have to, about a week later we got our sofa, looks and feels awesome. Not the cheapest sofa but worth the money.

My wife and I had been searching for a few months trying to find the perfect couch that would provide us with everything we wanted. After striking out at all of the conventional furniture shops from San Jose all the way up to San Francisco, we found Sofa Creations in RWC. After browsing their selection and speaking with Derek, he was able to work with us to create our perfect couch! We were in and out in 1 hour. In hindsight, we should have just visited Sofa Creations first and saved ourselves hours of stressful searching around the bay area for what we wanted. We received the couch in November and have been loving it ever since. A great company with great employees willing to go the extra mile to make sure you get exactly what you want. High-​quality product at a reasonable price.

We had a really great experience with Sofa Creations. Brendan was very helpful and patient with us in the design process — the whole experience was very easy and we never felt pressured. We had the couch in a few weeks, and the delivery went well too. They even took our old couch away for an extra fee. We are very happy with our new couch and love that it was made in California. We highly recommend Sofa Creations to anyone looking for a new couch!

I went into Sofa Creations with a very vague idea of what I wanted for a sofa, and Brendan walked me through the different options I could choose from. The whole process was very very relaxed, and he was a pleasure to work with. I changed my mind a few times, and thought of things later on that I hadn’t considered before, and Brendan was happy to accommodate the changes. I’m very happy with the sofa he helped me design, and I will absolutely go back to see Brendan in the future the next time I need furniture!

Was referred to this store by a friend. We recently bought a house a decided to invest on a great quality couch. The sales rep was amazing and so helpful. We got our dream couch and it was delivered and set up out of the county. The couch was manufactured wrong, and under most circumstances would be an issue, but they happily replaced the couch ASAP and free of charge or hassle. We could not be happier with the service and quality we received. Thanks so much for your amazing customer service! It means so much to first time customers like us. We recommend working with this company. We have our dream couch and they really made us feel like they care about their customers.

After moving into my place I was looking for a new couch and wanted something affordable, that was made well and had a certain look. I didn’t want to resort to another Ikea couch. Options I found were too expensive or would be delivered to in 8 – 10 weeks (and where would I sit in the mean time?!) I saw that Sofa Creations had great reviews and decided to stop by. The staff there was super friendly, explained the process (picking the style, the fabric, legs, cushion firmness, etc) and said I would have custom piece in longer than 2 weeks. I walked out in 15 minutes with a couch ordered just to my specifications, I couldn’t be happier.
When delivery day came we had some issues getting the couch into my tight hallway. I called the team and they were more than understanding since my building is really old. They took the couch back, rush ordered it to be cut down a few inches to fit into my living room. I had the piece back really quickly.
Now that I have had it for a few weeks, I can honestly say I am really happy with it. I saved a lot of money (it was under $ 1000) and I have a piece that people keep complimenting on.

We needed a large sectional sofa bed and loved working with Matt to design exactly the right solution for our family room. He’s really helpful and the couch turned out to be beautiful and super comfy. We’ve had several guests sleep on the inflatable sofa bed and they all say it’s really comfortable. Even the delivery guys were great. Highly recommend!

My roommate and I were looking for a large sectional and most places we looked didn’t have what we needed.
This place had exactly what we needed because they do everything custom! We got to select the dimensions (including widening the depth to optimize for friends crashing on our couch), the fabric, the color, and the firmness. After all was said and done we maybe paid a few hundred bucks more than we may have if we had spent a lot of time looking all over but at Sofa Creations we designed exactly the couch we wanted after just an hour. Totally worth it.
It’s been a few months now and I can say that the couch is holding up very nicely, and because we went with an easy to clean fabric it still looks good as new.
On the service side Matt was very helpful and explained all our options patiently every time. I am genuinely happy with this purchase experience.

My partner and I fell in love with this small, family-​owned business immediately. We were given plenty of time to decide on the perfect couch to meet our needs and the no-​pressure atmosphere made us feel at ease to explore our many options. We came in a few different times, and with each visit were greeted with friendly, knowledgeable staff. Now that the sleeper sofa is home with us, we are even more happy with our investment. In fact, we recently had guests and we chose to spend the night on our new sleeper sofa and were delighted to wake feeling fully rested and happy with our purchase. It took me a couple months to make a decision. Matt was patient and answered every question and concern I had without ever being pushy. He knows people want to invest in something they are going to love and use for a long time. Customer service was excellent. My sectional is awesome! It’s very well made, very comfortable, and about a $ 1000 less than a similar sectional I saw at Bassett, which didn’t have a deep seat and the fabric I wanted costed extra. I highly recommend this place.

I found this place in a fluke and I’m glad I did. I went to the RWC store and met with a sales associate. I picked a fabric, style and gave measurements for a couch and chair. There was a little «bump in the road» but the bump did not stand up to the excellent customer service that was provider. The «bump in the road» was corrected and I couldn’t be happier. My couch and chair are beautiful.

We went to Sofa Creations after noticing the store in Redwood City. Matt, the store manager, was so helpful and never made us feel we were wasting his time with 5+ visits and multiple emails as we tried to figure out what shape, size and color would work best for our new, custom-​sized sofa-​bed, sectional.

Went in to look at their options. Matt, the manager, helped us through every possible option and made some great recommendations. We were able view all the options, decide and even place an order for a custom size sectional and ottoman for a media room in less than an hour. Furniture was ready in five days and delivered way ahead of time. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for a high quality and cost effective customized sofa or sectional.

Awesome experience. I hate shopping to begin with and couch shopping for guys absolutely blows but this was an experience I wasn’t expecting. Matt the salesman in Redwood city was excellent in every aspect of the sale. Knowlegable, professional and friendly and not to mention extremely patient, which is saying Alot when it comes to my wife and her myriad of questions. He was ready with expertise and kind words. Hell I would’ve hired the guy just for his salesmanship and kindness .
All in all a great experience and what a great selection. The funny thing I’d my wife settled on a couch at lkea after putting Matt through the ringer but only because her friend at Ikea gave her a deal that was impossible to pass up. If I had two living rooms I’d go and buy another couch just because Matt was so awesome and their selection so much better but hey that’s why I’m still happily married after 25 years. Kudos to you Matt and your company. If you don’t have a friend at Ikea and you want a well made custom couch go visit these guys and Matt !! Givem your business or call my wife and convince her she made the wrong decision. Good luck with that.

Doing business with Derek honestly makes my job so much more enjoyable. I’m an interior designer and I work with many fabricators but there are none that are as reliable, responsive, and hard working as Derek. It’s very obvious that he does everything he can to make your experience working with him as smooth as possible. He also is not afraid to express his concerns if any during the design process which is something to be greatly appreciated.
Now as for their sofas, they are amazing! I had a large sofa order (18 pieces total) and it was done in 3 weeks– completely unheard of! Extremely well built to all my exact measurements, and super comfy! I also ordered 30 custom throw pillows to be made and everything came out just as I expected. I honestly couldn’t ask for more and will definitely be working with him for future projects.
