The rep, Don Day, seemed very nice and was. During pricing and quotes he would offer ideas and advice. Some of it was an upsale but a good idea so we accepted. The project was 2 new bathroom remodels. The contract covered all the basics and seemed good enough, after all, he listened and was easy going.
What I learned was that when I asked about something his «I’ll look into it» response actually meant «no, not really». And when it came time to perform one of the upsale items (making a doorway a bit smaller) he convinced us that the remodel looked good without the additional doorway molding and we might want to not reduce the doorway! So we didn’t and when I asked about cost saving he laughed and told me it was all rolled in but he’ll help elsewhere. He did not.
Other problems included:
— paint was sloppy and incomplete, but not apparent until we were using the bathrooms regularly (after payment).
— he had installed a new window, the moldings were poorly cut and did not mitre well, I had to sand them.
— he used only primer paint on some of the paint work– we had said that we might repaint the house so he chose not to paint. The primer and our color was the same, again hard to tell.
— his sub contractors (california reflection glass) did a poor job and when I pointed it out I was Don (the contractor) told me to talk to them direct! I said no that was his job. The next day he said they would replace and only charge me their cost. For a poorly done job where I asked them to guide the design. They showed lack of professionalism, capability, and responsibility as did Don Day.
— Where there was pain, it was splattered
— They had wired a new outlet and then drywalled over it. Don told me he did not think there was an outlet. I broke a hole and showed him so he smiled and then they cut it out of the drywall.
— the electrician left pencil marks on the ceiling where he was marking off to drill for new lights.
— Don said he would put an extra heavy bblock of wood in the shower behind the new tile wall so we could, in the future, install a grip rail… oops!
— The plumber put the fawcett handles on the new fixtures backwards (hot to cold and cold to hot) and damaged them because they were fitted for each side.
— His tile guys forgot the shower nook and Don said we did not ask for one.
— Replaced crown molding and the corners did not match, he just put lots of spackle to «blur» the joint!
The list goes on but it is obvious the job was poor. His «happy customer» was 2 real estate agents. Of course, it looks good but is poor quality and if you want to sell quick, maybe use him. But if you want quality, avoid Don and Goodrich!
They gave a great price on follow up work I had asked about early on, but I’ll gladly pay more in hope of someone with pride in their product.

We had so many contractors quote us on a small bathroom remodel that never returned a quote. My husband and I figured we were just too small a job or lived in the wrong neighborhood. Don from Goodrich came through and gave us a quote. The bathroom turned out beautiful and even though we changed our minds often Don always accommodated. After the first bathroom we had Don’s crew do another bathroom and a complete gut and remodel of a kitchen and hallway entry. It’s been a few years now and the work still looks beautiful! It was a pleasure working with Don and his workers and I can highly recommend him.

Straight out of the gate, I’ll say this: our cabinets are high quality and look beautiful. This company’s customer service, however? Terrible.
We hired Goodrich to remodel our small-​ish galley style kitchen in our 2-​bed, 2-​bath condo. We had already completed a remodel of most of the rest of the condo, which was built in the early 70s. The kitchen boasted baby poop green countertops, ugly white cabinets that were literally falling apart, and über modern bamboo accents. We called it the Disco Kitchen – pure 70’s funk. We were ready for a change, but willing to shop around to find the right person for the job.
We called Don Goodrich of Goodrich Construction to pay us a visit, show us his materials, and quote us a price on a shiny new kitchen. He was prompt, polite, efficient and seemed honest… at first. We chose materials and began shopping appliances, etc. The kitchen installation itself proved relatively quick and painless. Don and his employees did a wonderful job and were polite, thorough and knowledgeable.
Long story short, upon completion, we loved the look of the kitchen. Still do. Our issue with Goodrich arose a few months later, when we decided we wanted a linen/​extra kitchen supply cabinet just off the kitchen to match our beautiful new walnut cabinets (the small closet – more like two cupboards – was and remains the same white as the original kitchen cabinets). We had discussed this during the kitchen remodel and had been told, «no problem, should be an easy job». My husband began calling Don for a quote on the additional cabinets and to begin the process of remodeling them. Keep in mind, this was quoted around $ 1,000 – a small amount of money as far as a contractor is concerned.
…Don never called us back. No call, no voicemail, no email, nothing. We phoned him multiple times (trust me, we aren’t the type to give up) with absolutely no response. I think it’s very telling – and insanely rude – that this man only wants to deal with a client when he can make 5 figures off a project. Absolutely no follow-​up. We had to BEG him to even leave us a message with the color of the stain for the cabinets so that we could have someone else do it… he would never, never answer his phone when we called.
There’s no excuse for this kind of customer service. Don’t hire this man unless you have a major, expensive project in mind – he won’t be in touch unless there’s major cash involved. He simply won’t have time for you, and in this economy, he should use much better judgment.
