P. S. What is also excellent is that I own the system. That means there’s no lease and no liens on my property.

My husband and I have been talking about getting solar and one day a Future Energy rep came to our door. He set us up for an appt with one of their salesman for the following week. After sitting down with Blake and having all our questions answered we signed up! Our solar panels were installed within a week. The crew was very clean and professional. We can’t wait to see how much we save next month! I would highly recommend Future Energy if you are in the market for solar!

We had researched and interviewed several solar energy companies and Future Energy Savers is the one that satisfied both my wife and me. Cliff is very knowledgeable and stayed on top of the project from top to finish. Our roof was redone by our own choice, and the end result is a beautiful and efficient solar energy system. Summer is still out on vacation, but once it arrives, we will be able to use our A/​C and run the pump in our pool all summer long, without having to worry about the monthly bills. Another point that was important in making our decision was the Federal credits which we plan on applying toward the system. Overall, to this date, we are 100% satisfied and one one to describe our experience is: FREEDOM!!!

There is a reason this company has been in business 38 years, yet only has 14 Unilocal reviews and almost all of them are negative. Let me tell you my story… Last Friday 4/​8, I get a knock on my door at about 5 pm. Immediately I know it is a sales person, but I opened the door to see what they were selling. Once she said solar, I said OK, since I have been thinking about a system. She gave a really good pitch, I mean so good, that I agreed to have her come back on Monday with a formal quote specific to my house. She asked me who lived there, etc, etc. and I informed her I lived with my boyfriend Robert (this is important for later), at which point she asked who the homeowner was and I informed her that I was, that my boyfriend works a crazy schedule, that I make all financial decisions for the house. We agreed for her to come back Monday ⁴⁄₁₁ at 4:30 PM for the quote… Monday 4/​11, I get a call at about 11 AM from a guy confirming my appointment and he asks if Robert will be there. I informed him that he may be there, it is all dependent on his work schedule. His job is not as easy as walking out of the building at 4 PM to be home by 4:30. For the record, neither is mine, but I honor my commitments. He asked me again will Robert be there and I said he would try. When I get home at 4:30, the sales guy is parked in front of my house. I immediately asked where the girl from Friday was, since she sad she would be there Monday, he said, its her job going door to door, but she doesn’t do sales, he does the sales. Right away the vibe was negative. He asked me where is Robert and I informed him that Robert could not leave work, but I did, in the middle of something important because I was interested in the panels. He said he could not talk to me without Robert — at this point, I am absolutely floored. I am sorry, you cannot talk to me without my boyfriend being present?! I thought maybe it was a safety thing, not being alone with me in the house or something, but NOPE he says it is because he doesn’t want to waste time talking to me, if Robert needs answers too. I informed him that I am the HOMEOWNER, the house is SOLELY in my name, the mortgage is in my name and although my boyfriend lives there, he makes NO financial decisions for the house. He told me he still can’t talk to me, it is company policy. At this point, I am LIVID. I drove from work in the middle of something, to honor my commitment to meet with a girl, who apparently only does door to door pitches. The guy then proceeds to call his office and argue on the phone with them for 10 minutes. At this point, I leave the table on my front patio (where we are sitting), to go get my mail, I have had enough. When I come back from the mailbox the sales guy said, you said Robert would be here, you said he would be here, to which I responded, yes at 11 AM he had good intentions to be there, but work is work, and he is not going to jeopardize his job to listen to a solar sales pitch. On top of that, did I mention I am the homeowner AND I make all my own financial decisions? They would not pitch me because my BOYFRIEND was not there. Not my husband, not the homeowner, my boyfriend… absolutely ridiculous. What century are we in that a woman cannot make decisions for her OWN home? What did you want, to see my grant deed to see it has only my name on it (yes I did offer it up in the beginning), but company policy says my boyfriend was not there, so they cannot talk to me… Whatever, I do not need to do business with a company who forces me to justify to them, why they should do business with me. Queue a canned, standardized response from the owner of the company for how they train their people better then this, they have many satisfied customers, have been in business for 37 years etc, as he appears to respond to every bad review. The truth of the matter is, you guys need to get it together, you 100% lost someone who was interested and made meeting with you a priority, when I could have easily cancelled. Just finished looking up other solar companies on Unilocal,there are a dozen or so in my area with all 5 star reviews, I am sure they wont mind talking to me and me only about my home.
Also, please take note, I don’t often write Unilocal reviews, 14 so far, 13 of which are good… only 1 of which is negative, that is how much they rattled me.

I had been conducting my own research on obtaining a home solar system for quite some time. What I found in the process was a lot of conflicting information online. There are various things to consider when you want to move forward with a home system. I wasn’t at all interested in leasing a system, I didn’t want the 20 year commitment and I didn’t want to give away my federal rebate. Where I’m at in my life dictated whether a lease or purchase was the way to go. My plan is to only be in my home for about another 13 years before I reach retirement and move. I crunched the numbers and figured that I can start getting a return on my investment within 9 years if I went with a purchase. Owning the system would add some value to my home and I wouldn’t have to deal with the headache associated with trying to transfer a leased system.
I moved into a subdivision of new homes and opted out of having their PPA system installed on my new home. I then started shopping around for a system to buy. Just about every solar company I contacted did everything in their power to try and talk me out of going through with a purchase. Their claim was that a leased system was the smartest option. The way I see it is a leased system is good for the company that owns it, but not so much for the customer.
I was introduced to Future Energy Solutions one evening when there was a knock at my door. Initially the information pitch sounded too good to be true. I had done my own research and this company was selling exactly what I was looking for, a system to suit my needs at a reasonable price point. The kicker was that the Future Energy Solutions also arranged the financing. I opted to make an appointment and see what the «fine print» had to say.
The representative that handled my appointment was very informative and straight forward. I did not feel as if there was any pressure to commit to anything. When all was said and done, we signed up and moved into the installation process. The rest of the office staff and field staff that I dealt with were both polite and professional. I have since had my system on my residence for about 2 months and I’m extremely happy that I made the decision to trust Future Energy Savers with this investment.

This company needs to rethink how they make a sales pitch or should I say, end one. We met with a salesperson who was quite helpful in answering questions. We were assured in the beginning of the presentation, that there would be no pressure whatsoever. We were given the quote and we told him that we wanted to think about it, as we will be re-​doing our roof in the future. We wanted to also do some research on the company. The salesperson told us the the quote he gave us would leave with him that day. So you mean to tell me that if I called back the following day, I would not get the same price? Yeah right! I recently made some significant upgrades to my home and the companies I dealt with got my business because they were put no pressure, as promised. They left business cards when they left and were happy to answer numerous questions long after their sale pitch. They did not threaten me with a «take it now or never» attitude. This guy stormed off without even a thank you for your time. I don’t know how well they do there installs and it’s a shame for them that I will never know. I thank them for all the information I was able to get from them. I feel much more knowledgeable than I did beforehand and I will definitely go solar, just not with them.

Had future energy install a system at my home and are very disappointed with the results. was told by the salesman that with this system we would be in a high teir1 or low teir 2. as of today that hasn’t happened. have contacted them numerous times. spoke with a installer who said my system was doing its job. funny thing is that when I run a single ac unit (window mount) it goes straight to Edison power. also noticed that on any giving day my solar doesn’t kick in till 11:00 — 11:30 and is off by 3:30., spent a load of money on this system only to be taken by a bunch of crooks. buyers beware you will not get what you paid for. solar is a joke…

Just 6 inches kept me from getting an installation from this company. I had signed a contract with Future Energy Savers after they came door to door pitching their systems. When Edison came out to do the spot check they informed me that my panel was too close to a gas line and that the panel would need to be moved 6 inches when they do the panel upgrade.
Future Energy Savers had been very friendly and appeared to be very knowledgeable up until this point. I informed them that the panel needed to be moved 6 inches and provided them the report that Edison gave me. They referred me to their «engineer» who insisted that it was MY responsibility to dig up my concrete and yard in order to move the gas line at the cost of many thousands of dollars to me. When I argued that it was only 6 inches that the panel needed to be moved and that Edison told me that we should move the panel not the gas line, I was told that it is IMPOSSIBLE to move the panel. As I continued to argue about this he told me several times it was IMPOSSIBLE to move my panel. This was an complete LIE. Solar installers move electric panels all the time! I called back a couple times asking to speak to a supervisor or somebody with some authority about my problem but they just kept transferring my call to the same engineer. After arguing about this several times on the phone and even offering to pay extra installation fees to move the panel, he wouldn’t budge and so I canceled my contract. Luckily this all went down within the three business days of signing my contract so that I was able to cancel.
I did some research and have since signed up with another solar company who has assured me that moving the panel is no problem. They are building me a larger system (almost 2kw larger) for more than $ 10k LESS than what Future Energy Savers quoted for their system. (Not a lease or PPA, I am purchasing the system.) Although I am not getting the American panels that these guys push, I did some research and the Chinese panels that I am getting have a similar warranty, are installed on many thousands of homes by many big name solar companies and have a great reputation for quality and reliability. I generally prefer to buy american products when I can, but for this cost savings I am sure I’ll be much happier this way.
People need to be made aware to not fall for these door to door salesman solar companies that are preying on people who are interested in solar but have not yet done the research to find a company that is going to give them an honest deal.

My wife and I had been considering going solar for awhile. I started doing research into solar technology and companies that did the installation. During my research I noticed that most solar installation companies have only been in business since 2009. I found that odd. So, I looked into why that year was so special. Turns out that was the year that California started offering a great deal of rebates and incentives for people to switch to solar. Seems like overnight, hundreds of companies sprang up to take advantage of this new market. I’m always a little wary of these kind of companies. So, I started concentrating my search on companies that had been in business before 2009. My search eventually led me to Future Energy Savers. They have been in the business since 1978. The only solar company that I found that had been operating longer than the warranty on their product, 25 years. Further research reveled to me that the panels that they use exclusively are 100% Made in the USA by Solar World, which has been making solar panels since 1975. Quality and longevity were the keys I was looking for. So, we scheduled an appointment for a Future Energy Savers rep to come out and talk to us about solar options. He arrived on time and was professional. We discussed our current electric bills and the solar system size that would best suit our needs. After deciding what would work best for us the process from financing to installation to follow-​up was very smooth and seamless. Since our system went live, we have been thoroughly satisfied with our entire experience and product. I highly recommend this company for all of your Solar needs!

WARNING! Do not do business with this company!!! My sister bought the solar panels and after they installed it they never turned on the panels… I never got any emails, any information and now I got a bill for $ 1400 a year later from Edison WTF!!! Called the company, their response was, «not our fault». what!!! Now I have to deal with lawyers… this company is a scam. Do not fall for their sales pitch, sounds good but don’t fall for it.

100% American made panels. And now my electric is $ 2.86, wow. Professional from start to finish. 25 year warranty back by a company who has been in business since 1984.

I received a call today. Made the appointment and the guy doesn’t show up. I don’t get a call saying he will not show up and now the phone number says disconnected.

Please be careful of this company’s tactics when deciding to cancel within the grace period. I had agreed to sign up for the solar panel installation, but after initially reviewing the cost of replacing my old roof, I called within the 3 day grace period to cancel. The sales rep told me he would keep the grace period open on the contract so that I could continue looking for additional roof bids. After doing additional research on the cost of a new roof, I realized that I could not afford it at that point in my life. When I called the installation manager to cancel again, he said that I was past my cancel date and would be charging me $ 5000 as a penalty. I informed him that the sales guy extended the grace period since he knew that the cost of replacing the roof was the deciding factor from day 1 of our meeting. The install mgr, unfortunately, did not care to listen to my story and continued with the $ 5000 penalty threat.
Future Energy originally told me that they would charge $ 4000 to take down and put the solar panels back up if I replaced my roof in the future. Therefore, I wanted to take care of the roofing before agreeing to the solar panel installation. After going back and forth with the install mgr and sales guy about my options, I realized that both individuals did not communicate with each other and gave conflicting promises on what they could do. The sales guy said Future would cover the solar panels and all the roofing around them for 25 years, while the install mgr said he would decrease the $ 4000 cost down to $ 2500 for taking the panels down and back up again. The install mgr said the sales guy was no longer allowed to talk to me and the final offer he would give me would be that Future Energy would take down the panels and put them back up for free when I am ready to re-​roof at my own expense. «No warranty» was emphasized for my roof per the install mgr. He went as far as stating that this guarantee would not be sent to me unless I scheduled the solar panel installation, literally, for the following day.
First of all, who would ever agree to a job without a formal guarantee from the company? I cannot believe this company disregarded my legitimate request to cancel the contract and that the additional guarantees would only come to me if I scheduled the installation work first! Due to all the confusing and conflicting statements and promises, I wrote a formal cancellation letter to them. I will let Angie’s List, Unilocal,BBB, family, and friends know of my horrible experience with Future Energy Savers. Once again, Please be careful of this company’s business tactics!

I agreed to have this company come by for a consultation cuz we were interested in solar and ultimately was impressed with how the plan worked out, liked the sales guy well enough, and we signed up for the no money down, ambassador plan that gave us great savings on what appeared to be one of the higher quality solar options around. Unfortunately we never went through with it because our credit check came in just below the requirement and was denied.
I didn’t write this review to complain about the credit check, but the complaint I do have is that the sales guy never called me or emailed me back for a number of days afterward over a few attempts to contact him. I didn’t really know what was going on until about a week later we got the denial letter and I have to assume it was a case where he was notified within the next day about our denial, but didn’t think it was worth the time for a phone call to let us know since we weren’t going to be a customer of his after all? Wasn’t very professional in that regard.

My experience with this outfit started out bad at best then went south from there. I had a guy come by my house soliciting, dressed like a thug. When i wouldn’t set up an appointment he got angry and stormed off littering my lawn with trash from his clipboard. As i was picking it up i noticed a flyer. I thought what the heck. I had already been thinking about solar and had a few bids. I called and set an appointment. They were a no show. My wife and i took the day off for this. I decided to give them another chance. On appointment number two we had one of the pushiest rude salesmen in our house that we have ever seen. On top of that, the price from these clowns was slightly more than double my three other bids. We asked him to leave, he got angry then insulted my wife implying she should start dinner and let the men talk. Unbelievable! Save your self time and headache and avoid this company.

As many others have reported, they have lame sales tactics. They set an appointment with me. Then called to reschedule 30 minutes before. Then they asked if my wife would be home. I told them no. I told them I just need a quote. If my wife needs to be here for me to get a quote, forget it. They said they would come anyway so I waited for them. I called after an hour of them not showing and they said they didn’t come because my wife was not going to be there — and never bothered to let me know.
I do not do business with companies like this. The only good reason to have us both here is to try to sucker us in to something that would not be a good deal. So if you want honest respectful service, go somewhere else. After reading reviews on their other branches, These guys obviously have a reputation for shady and disrespectful sales tactics. Who needs that?
