In the back of this convenience store is a small Indian buffet/diner. One of the guys I work with is from Southern India, so when we went to lunch together this week I recommended one of his favorite places that makes you feel like the food is from home. That said it is a predominately Northern Indian menu. There were several specials, I opted for a quick lunch with the veg plate. This included rice, naan, a tofu-like cheese, and a couple of sauces on the side. The amount of food was generous, everything was tasty and I was out the door under $ 7. I will come back for lunch again.

GoPaks is a great place to go for cheap beer(bottles and kegs); cheap wine; and — perhaps surprisingly — a fairly cheap Indian food buffet. As with many businesses on Hillsborough Street, GoPaks caters mostly to the beer-drinking college crowd. When I was living on Chamberlain Street, GoPaks was the go-to place for last-minute party supplies. But they also make an attempt at providing some real essentials: toothpicks, Vienna sausages, flashlights, etc…

I once bought a belt for a friend at 1 in the morning from the GoPaks Bazaar. His pants were a little too big and he was reusing to stay out with our group on the account of said large pants. We went into the Bazaar and were able to purchase a Harley Davidson belt(oh so classy) for around $ 7. Besides belts, the Bazaar sells cigarettes, lottery tickets, and your traditional convince store fare. A great place to go late at night when you’re in need of something out of the ordinary(like a belt)
