This store looks like a pretty standard convenience store from the outside but it’s got two major things going for it: 1. It is right next to the ABC store. I work within walking distance of Mission Valley so if I stop at the ABC store on the way home, I can leave my car parked and walk over to the 6 – 12 for whatver mixers/garnishes I need without making an additional stop at the grocery store. On Fridays at 5pm when I’m tired and want to get home, this is crucial! 2. The beer selection is outstanding. These people are WELL stocked with tons of craft, seasonal and local beers. We found Highland Cold Mountain here at the end of last year and just last week — they must have been stashing it in the back! Such a treat if you know how tricky it is to hunt that seasonal down. We went there in search of Bell’s Hopslam a few days after it was released and of course they were sold out. However, the owner took our phone number and offered to call us when they got another shipment, which I thought was well above the necessary level of customer service! I will definitely continue to frequent this place.

I’ve lived just 3 miles away from this store for over two years yet I’ve never shopped here before. On the outside it looks just like any other convenience store. Yet on the inside they are a little more. They have a pretty decent selection of craft, seasonal and local beers. Price-wise they are a little higher than places like Total Wine, Triangle Wine and the other great beer stores in the area. However they do carry some things that you can’t find anywhere else locally(I was thrilled to find Southern Tier Choklat there). I give them four stars just for wowing me on that beer alone. I even found quite a few six-packs of Duck-Rabbit Porter, which, according to the guys at the brewery, they stopped brewing a while ago. If you are looking for something that you can’t find it might be worth checking here just to see if they have it. The selection won’t always blow you away but you never know what you might find.

There was a time in my life when high end beer was anything that didn’t have the words«light,» «lite,» or «ice» in the title. Then came the Six Twelve. They went a different route than most places across the street from a major college campus would(I’m looking at you, Wolf Mart). They stock all kinds of beer. Domestic, import, high end, low end, pale ales, stouts, wheat, exotic lagers… you name it. The extensive beer selection prompted my brother and I to occasionally play a game called«I pick a beer, you have to drink a 6-pack of it.» When we finally tired of trying to embarrass each other with lame selections, we actually found a few new favorites through this game. Beyond the selection that pretty much tops anything so close to campus, there’s not much reason to head into the Six Twelve unless, as Eric mentioned, you need some other drinking supply and it can’t wait for you to find it somewhere a little less expensive.

Placed conveniently adjacent to the ABC store in Mission Valley, this funky little shop provides everything you might need for a night out partying, as well as large selection of beer and wine, including imports, seasonal brews and various beers that are difficult to find. Other than providing other forms of alcohol, this shop also hits a couple other niches pretty well. Did you buy some tequila next door but forget to grab a lime? Well, you’re in luck, because they’ve got those. Are you looking for a mixer for your vodka? Got that, too. Need a pack of English(or clove) cigarettes and some cone incense? Well, friend you’ve come to the right place. How about a bottle of Moët et Chandon? Maybe I’m reaching now, but you could get it here if you wanted. Sure it’s not the cheapest place to buy anything I listed above, but, if you’re already in the area or are searching high and low for that hard to find double bock beer, it’s more than worth checking out.
