Vibe of Portland is a nonprofit arts and music educational organization with the mission to «Empower Portland’s Underserved Youth through Art & Music»

We do this though:

1– Our Vibe @ School visual art and music programming at 11 schools sites in North and Southeast Portand

2– Art classes, Art Birthday Parties, Workshops, Camps and Open Studios at our Vibe Art studio located at TaborSpace at 5441 SE Belmont

3– Connecting local artists and musicians who are passionate about teaching kids in the arts.

History

Established in 2007.

Our mission is to Empower Portland’s Underserved Youth through Art and Music. We do this by offering affordable arts educational experiences to ALL children in Portland regardless of their economic background

Vibe of Portland began as an idea in 2006 while Laura Streib, director & founder, was in grad school. While in school she discovered the great need and lack of arts education for students in the Portland Metro area due to budget cuts. Laura felt that ALL kids deserve access to the arts and with that conviction and determination to make that a reality, Vibe began.

Vibe specifically targets students who have little to no access to arts education within their daily school setting and provides programs to fill those gaps. Our ultimate goal would be to aid and assist programs already in place within the school day– but until then, Vibe will be providing quality arts education to students who would otherwise fall through the creative cracks of education.

Manager

As a mother of 2 — Laura is passionate about making sure art and music are accessible to all children in Portland. Due to continued budget cuts, art and music continue to be cut from the school day — especially in neighborhoods without strong parent involvement. Vibe of Portland was created to make sure that all kids in Portland have access to the arts regardless of any barriers they might have between themselves and creativity.
