Specialties
Our lounge strives to be a friendly, comfortable place to have a drink to end the day, watch a soccer game, grab a quick bite before a thorns game or maybe just spend a rainy Oregon evening with a board game. In case you want something a little more sophisticated than our house ground hamburger or foie gras stuffed dates, our full restaurant menu is available during dinner hours and our dessert menu is available at all hours for those who want a little something sweet.
We have a fully stocked bar featuring local favorites like New Deal and Aviation, as well some not-so-local single malt scotches (Lagavulin 16, anyone?); bourbons range from Bookers to Burnside and, naturalmente, we offer several Italian liquors. The wine selection – many are available by the glass – covers the length of Italy and a good chunk of the Pacific NW as well. In addition, we have 14 beers and ciders on tap.
Our happy hour runs 3 – 6 and 10-close every day. In addition, we offer happy hour to Thorns and Timbers fans for the 2 hours before each home game – we open early for those 2pm games. And to give back to those who serve we offer all day happy hour the following days: Service Industry Night on Sundays, Military Mondays and Teacher Tuesdays.
History
Established in 2010.
Grandma Gilda
Gilda Piluso met her husband, John Roberti, in her hometown of Serra Pedace, Calabria, where he was visiting from America. They married quickly, since John had to return to the United States; soon after World War II started in Europe – and John returned to Italy to arrange for Gilda’s move to the US. Luckily they were able to get out and were soon in Portland running the Italian market John owned in the St. John’s area.
Gilda was the family matriarch and she always took great pleasure in feeding her kids, grandkids and neighbors the food of her homeland. For Grandma Gilda, food was love, and she filled many lives with her wonderful cooking. After her passing, Marco and his family decided to honor her memory by naming their restaurant after her.

Marco R.
Business Owner
Marco’s passion for food came from a lifetime of eating at the tables of his mother and grandmother. He went on to work as a cook at several notable Portland area restaurants before moving on to Florence, Italy to study and work; there, he received a Master’s in Culinary Arts at Apicius International School of Hospitality. He then spent several months traveling, living and cooking with his family in Tuscany, Umbria and Calabria, and working in restaurants in Tuscany and Sicily; as well as a week long stint at The James Beard Foundation. Upon returning home, he continued to cook until the opportunity to open Gilda’s came along.
