Jami is amazing! She is very talented and takes the time to listen. As a result I always get a fabulous cut and color. I came to her about a year ago after a series of bad cuts at other salons in Portland. She dyed my hair for the first time ever and since then has helped me play around with other cuts and colors. If I’m going out after my appointment she’ll always offer to curl or style my hair. She always gives great scalp massages, even when shes running behind. I’ve always appreciated when stylists employ these extra touches. Many do not, which is sad because clients definitely notice these things!
They are usually running a little behind but if you prepare for that mentally it’s not upsetting.
In sum, it’s a great little place run by two sweet and talented women. Definitely worth checking out if your current stylist isn’t doing it for you.

I have worked with Keri for a few years now and she is wonderful. She is easy to talk to and I feel I not only get great aesthetic services, but a nice counseling season as well. I feel so comfortable at this salon. It’s in a quieter part of the city, so I always find street parking.

Keri is absolutely wonderful… she is caring and super sweet. She makes me feel comfortable and at home whenever I go in to get waxed. She is proactive about getting me scheduled for my next appointment and incredibly flexible whenever I need to change it with a friendly little text a couple days before my appointment. My only complaint is that it is a little bit more expensive than I would like to pay but I originally started going to Keri because of an awesome Groupon. Now she’s got me completely hooked because of her outstanding customer service and friendly attitude.

Keri is fantastic. She listens to me and also provides great recommendations with regard to cut and color. I am heading there for an appointment tonight, in fact, and eagerly await the magic she works on my hair!

Kerri is the best Brazilian waxer I have had because she is soooo fast. Nobody wants a long wax. She’s decent price too if you buy a package. Sometimes the wait time is a little long because she’s so busy but I will keep going back. She’s friendly too and easy to talk to!

I have to say that I was worried after reading all these Unilocal reviews. However, i forgot my appointment the other day and I called telling them sorry and to see if I could be squeezed in… I didn’t think I would get to redeem my groupon since it expires in 4 days. I was pleasantly surprised with a call today saying they could fit me in at 330! my groupon Brazilian was amazing and they treated me as if I was a normal customer. Keri is a doll and very sweet. The woman who greeted me was very pleasant and got me water/​tea. It’s a cute salon and I felt comfortable and the waxing felt as good as a Brazilian could ;) I will recommend this place for waxing. Thanks Keri!

Keri is so sweet and she does a great job. She always makes me feel super comfortable during my Brazilians and doesn’t try to push products that I don’t want to buy. The location makes it a little difficult to find parking sometimes but the service is worth it for me. I definitely recommend going to see Keri for a wax!

I, like several others, had the Living Social deal yet unlike some other reviews, my experience was good.
To the reviewer whining about the stairs, get over it. It’s not their fault you were gimpy. And having to undress while Kari was in the room, all wax salons do this! Unfair to mark them down for that.
Wax was perfect temperature, not too hot as other reviewers complained. I thought technique was fine… same as other wax salons I’ve been to. Besides how many techniques could there be?!
So yes I thought Kari did a good job and I do recommend this place. Maybe the bad reviews came from people who are unhappy and unpleasant to begin with.

Alright — I am all about positive reviews and don’t want to be «THAT» person… however…
I originally purchased a deal a few months ago for one brazilian for 25 bucks. That was my first time at the salon. And it was good enough to have me purchase a second deal. Bad decision.
I come to the checkout and I am told «oh yeah, the fine print means that the $ 35 dollar deal for a brazilian and brow is only for newwwwww patients so you get a ‘credit’ of 35 and still owe 35». She proceeded to say that a lot of people had this problem and weren’t happy about it. She blamed the deal on living social for confusing people.
Here’s one for ya… if you want to keep your current customers you say «oh shoot, it should’ve been made clearer on living social, but that’s ok just come back and get another!»
Let’s just say she lost my business and the business she was going to get from my room mates.
Also, she doesn’t tweeze afterwards, so don’t expect an overly picky and perfectionist to do this wax.

Went here recently because I had a groupon deal for Brazilian wax and brow.
The place is very clean and well maintain. The staff was really friendly and nice.
Got my Brazilian done. No complaints there. The gal didn’t make me feel awkward during the procedure and made small talk. It’s been about 3 weeks and still no hair grow back yet… wow! Amazing.
Would have given them 5 stars but the gal forgot to give me my brow wax that was included in the deal. N
Still very happy with the results and will be back for sure. :D

I redeemed my Groupon for the Brazilian about 2 weeks ago. Keri, the owner is a very grouchy yet cute looking girl. She didn’t want to talk and sported a huge frown even upon greeting me. The service is basically crap because their only means of communication is a crappy cell phone that gets bad service in their building. They don’t have a land line or email.
Anyway, my overall rating for the Brazilian is not good. My hair was the perfect length for waxing, but when I got home she had done such a crappy job. there was about 20% of my hair still scattered around, and within a week most of it had started to grow back as stubble.

Keri has been my hair stylist for years. She is amazing. I love changing my hair color — I’ve gone red, auburn, black, brown, magenta, blonde. She has a great eye for which style and color will work for you. Her new salon is in a great location too. It’s easy to find 3 hour parking. I highly recommend going here!

I have had two service at this salon a keratin treatment with cut and a Brazilian wax. My rating is soley based on my keratin/​cut experience with Jami. Jami has cut my hair in the past when she was at another salon, she always does a fantastic job. And the keratin was equally great. I’ve had a number of keratin treatments over the years and the product they use for their keratin’s is excellent. I would recommend Jami for any hair service, she does amazing work and I have always been satisfied with my hair when she has done it.
Scheduling is difficult they rarely answer the phone as another reviewer said which results in a lot of phone «tag» before connecting with someone. The salon interior and location are both ok, nothing terrific. I had a groupon for the keratin/​cut which made the service reasonably priced. Based on the pricing they list on their website it seems a little steep. I’ve had plenty of $ 50+ hair cuts and this was definitely a great cut but the peripheral things you get when you pay $ 50 for a hair cut weren’t there.
I left my experience with the Brazilian wax out of the rating because the results from that service were so starkly different that it would be unfair to combine the two. I will give you a brief review though. Keri did my wax, she was friendly enough. And as was mentioned by others it felt like she was in a rush, she didn’t step outside for me to undress and my resulting wax was a little spotty and I had a ton of bruising. Lots of wax left on me when I got home too. I would not recommend going to Keri for a waxing service.

The best part is that Keri is super sweet and made me feel totally comfortable.
I got a groupon to get my first brazilian here. It took me forever to schedule an appointment and the Brazilian was «meh” – I had to tweeze a lot of missed hairs when I got home.
I decided to keep going back because it was relatively close to where I worked. One day, though, she had overbooked and I sat there waiting for about 45 minutes before she told me that she could see me in another half hour or I could come back the next day. Since I had taken more than my alloted lunch break for that day, I did come back the next day. I started going to Urban Waxx after that.

I like a lot of people purchased the LivingSocial deal for eyebrow and «other» wax. At first it was difficult to schedule an appointment, as the salon rarely answered their phone, but after the third time, I just sent a text and my text was returned right away and scheduling was easy. I indicated in my text, and well since it is written it isn’t really disputable, that I was making an appointment to use my living social deal and what the deal was for.
I arrived for my appointment a few minutes early, but ended up having to wait 15 min for my appointment without even an apology. Look I understand things happen, but it is at least courtesy and respectful to acknowledge that my time is also valuable. anyway, not a huge deal.
The building is old and you have to go downstairs to the waxing station, which is ok except for at the time I was still recovering from knee surgery and the rise and run of the stairs would not be to code today, meaning they are very steep, and nobody seem to give a crap. again not a huge deal, just background. Keri, who is the owner was performing the wax. She was impatient and offered little privacy, as in she never left the room and just basic stood there tapping her fingers like she had something better to do. Let me just say this isn’t my first «wax» her technique was TERRIBLE. I won’t get into details about the redness and bruising but let me say, I will NEVER go back to this salon, this truly was the worst most horrific experience. Thank goodness this wasn’t my first experience with waxing or I would be horrified for eternity.
There is a reason they have to keep trying to sell so many LivingSocial, Groupon, Google and Amazon deals, because that is the only way they will get business. But hey if everybody only goes there once perhaps that will keep their business afloat.
Hopefully their salon is better, but as for waxing please save yourselves the pain.

I started going to Keri about four years ago when I was new to the area. Her salon was right at the bottom of the building I used to live in. I was really nervous about getting a new stylist, but I thought that if these ladies were opening their own salon then they had to be good.
But they aren’t good, they’re GREAT. Fantastic people to be around and my cut and color ALWAYS look fabulous. Keri is a magician with color. I get a great natural looking blonde with low and highlights every time.
My schedule is never the same and Keri is always able to switch my appointments around to accommodate it, usually on short notice!
She’s also a great therapist and hilarious! :) Go to Keri for your cut and color, you will NOT be disappointed.

This place is awful! As I neared time for my maintenance brazilian, I attempted to call during business hours to schedule and appointment. They did not answer, but their answering machine suggests texting them. So I sent a text. I did three more times that week. The next week, growing ever more bushy, I tried again. And again. And again. And I drove to their business location and found them closed during business hours. Week three comes along and I try yet again. Still nothing.
Then I get a text message from them saying «How about you go fuck yourself and don’t ever contact our business again. Happy New Year.» I’m not even kidding. I was flabbergasted.
How dare they use that language when I had been trying to contact them for THREE WEEKS. And only after all those messages, they finally respond with that? Not an apology for being so uncooperative and unresponsive?
If you want to be treated like shit and not even be able to get your maintenance wax (which would be with too-​hot wax anyways), go here. If you want a good experience, go nearly anywhere else.

I got a living social for a Brazilian was. I was TOTALLY psyched. They have great weekend hours and I loved the gal who did the wax. I noticed the wax seemed a little hotter than I remember from the last one I got and it felt a little more painful, but she seemed to know what she was doing and was super sweet.
I was so impressed I booked a follow up for 6 weeks later.
Within an hour I started to realize something wasn’t right. I had red bumps all over that itched and hurt. By the next day I was miserable. The salon wasn’t open (it was a Monday) when I called so I sent a text on the off chance they could recommend something. 8 or 9 hours later I got a text back saying that I should come in and buy some cream from them. No «gosh I am sorry», no «here’s what you can do to relieve the irritation right away, and maybe next time the cream»… It just felt very dismissive. I was miserable!
I have had a number of waxes before, and know that some irritiation can be expected, but this was WAY beyond what I have ever experienced. And still have little red bumps 12 days later. And could honestly have lived with the bad reaction from the wax if there had been a better reaction from the salon.
Needless to say I cancelled the follow up.
Too bad, too. I was excited to have found a salon I liked that actually had hours on the weekend, decent parking options and (I thought) a nice staff.

I came on a living social and so glad I did! My service was great and Kari is a riot! I highly recommend this place for all your waxing.

Kari is my favorite! She gets my hair right everytime and her shampooing is the BEST!
