Specialties
This is a departure from the new normal of «brown, bitter & stirred,» with the house made syrups and esoteric components that are found on most modern cocktail lists. Our drink menu is fun, fresh and accessible without stinting on quality or craft.
Overall, they are things we enjoy drinking — and not just our cocktails, but every drink. If you want bourbon and coke or a gin and tonic, we want to make you the best possible version.
History
Established in 2014.
We called the bar Pepe Le Moko — mostly because we liked the way words pop and trill, but also because we like Jean Gabin and wanted to sprinkle in some of the outlaw, casbah, fairydust of the old movie as a kind of respite from our beloved Northwest rain. Pepe Le Moko is meant as a convivial refuge that is out-of-time, with no reference to the street above. We curved the ceiling down in low barrel vaults to create intimacy. We play Ellington, Basie and Lester Young — their full, round sounds roll along the coves in a musical embrace that makes the space feel whole. It may sound trite or overly ambitious, but we want to make places that feel as if they have always been there.

«Cocktail bars as a genre can have a reputation for being an intimidating experience.
We want to fix that.» — Jeffrey Morgenthaler, Bar Manager
