The Heating Specialist

We just had a new Lennox Heater and Air Conditioner (ML195DF070 + 13ACX030), including a new digital wireless Honeywell Smart Thermostat (RTH9580WF) installed by The Heating Specialist and could not be happier. Our Borg-​Warner furnace (30 years old) and Rheem Air Conditioner (18 years old) were still running, but getting very tired and were so inefficient. Thanks to Unilocal for helping us sift through the maze of contractors to find The Heating Specialist. Great service, great price and great customer service. The total price was $ 6500.00 (minus the thermostat which I purchased myself at BestBuy for $ 174.96) I would highly recommend you give Dave Brent a call if your in need of HVAC system in your home or place of business.

I was pleased with the service of Steve Von Wald, when he came to diagnose our furnace on Jan. 11, 2016. I was also impressed that David Brent came out that same day to give us a quote on a new furnace.
I am HIGHLY enraged that the two nice men, who installed the furnace tracked in and out on their boots ALL DAY LONG, oil all through our home! From our laundry room, to our bathroom, up and down the stairs, on our hardwoods, through our dining room. We had to rip up the carpet off the bottom four steps of our basement! We also had to throw away our front door mats, interior and exterior. In the cleanup (three hours) we had to use and throw away 4 bath towles, two cleaning rags, a mop, two sponges and used an entire bottle of Dawn dish liquid! I still don’t think all the residue is cleaned all the way.
To top it off we STILL don’t have heat, even though David assured us he would get a propane hookup for us to hold us over until the Natural Gas company could get out here! The Natural Gas company did not get our order until THREE DAYS AGO, David told us on Jan. 11^th he would send the order in that day!
In the future, we will be using another company. I would like to recommend that they have their installation crew mask off any and all areas they walk, prior to installation!

I’m not generally a Unilocal reviewer so something has to blow me away to bother, but for these guys, I DO bother! Wow, great service from a lovely company. My furnace died in the middle of a cold snap. Not only did they send someone THAT day (even though I had not previously been a client) to at least get it going, but they made space in their calendar to install a new furnace 4 days later. Install went great, but there was a problem getting my Nest thermostat to work for some reason. These guys went out and got a temporary thermostat, and then installed a brand NEW Nest, because they worried that maybe they had shorted it out or something. The guys could not be nicer, and everything was left spotless, and most importantly, heated! Thank you to David and Chris and all the guys. You are an exemplary local business and I think someone should give you a prize.

My furnace was having issues so I called the heating specialist. They had Chris out the next day, he immediately identified the problem and ordered the part. We made an appointment for later the following week but the part arrived early and they moved it forward which was very welcomed. Snow with no heat isn’t a desired situation. Chris was honest, straight forward, kind and took the time to explain everything to me as well as helped problem solve other heating flow issues. I can’t express how thankful I am for their service. I would recommend the heating specialist and Chris to anyone. Thank you!

Everyone in PDX should call these guys. My furnace stopped working right during the first cold spell and I had guests staying with me the following week. All of my calls gave me a two week out appointment and they couldn’t assess the problem much on the phone. The Heating Specialist came out the next day. Assessed the problem with me, gave me quotes for multiple options, which was great. My furnace was 23 years old and buying a new one made the most sense. They sent a sales rep out that afternoon and the furnace was installed within the week! Works great. Service was speedy and very helpful. My home is nice and warm, ready for the winter! Thank you!

Heating out on New Year’s Day with a baby at home… Not fun. Thank you Otto for answering my call, being incredibly professional, walking us through what happened and most importantly fixing the problem without fuss. He was so ethical with the issue and showing us how we can keep an eye on it. We’ll definitely recommend Otto to anyone that needs their furnace repaired or maintained!

I suspected the old furnace in my new (old) house was in bad shape, and was able to arrange an inspection quickly. The inspector confirmed my suspicions, explained furnace efficiency issues, and tried to soften the blow of the upcoming expense of a new furnace. The new furnace cost less to install than I had feared, and they deducted the cost of the inspection from my bill too. I can’t believe how quiet the new heating system is, and now my house is warm and cozy! Everyone I talked to with this company was friendly and helpful, too. Great people to work with!

Their service is great. Everyone I’ve had the pleasure of talking to has been very friendly and informative. A couple months after purchasing a house the furnace needed to be replaced. We did some research on what we were looking for and Dave didn’t try to upsell us our swing us in another direction. He did just what we asked and installed the new furnace the same week it went out which was in the middle of December! Overall great experience. I would absolutely recommend these guys!

I called today needing an appointment within 48hrs to meet my Inspection expiration date. Jenny who took my call was very helpful, and was able to get me a same-​day appointment. The service technician was very professional and nice, and was able to fix the furnace on the spot for minimal cost. He also gave tips on how to keep the furnace in tip-​top shape. Highly recommend this company.

AMAZING.
Called in 100 degree heat to see if I could schedule an apt. to fix our non-​functional A/​C unit knowing it would likely be a few days until they could come over, but it happened that they had a specialist in my neighborhood and the receptionist called to see if he could come over right away! YES! The repair was not easy, but Otto was super great to work with and solved the problem! So glad I called. I would recommend them over so many others I’ve dealt with.

On time, very professional, and didn’t rip us off because we live in a nice neighborhood. Highly recommended.

I needed a new furnace and didn’t know who to call. I went to Unilocal and read the positive reviews & gave them a call. I’m so happy I did. David came to my home on a Tuesday — gave me a bid BEFORE he left — I had a new furnace installed on Friday. Dooley & Tom did the installation. They are professionals. They were on time, prepared, respectful to each other & my home, cleaned up and each made sure I understood how the furnace worked. Thank you!

I would absolutely recommend the Heating Specialist. I had a problem with my furnace and it needed to be replaced. I called the Heating Specialist and someone was able to come out and give me a bid that same day. The work they did was extremely professional and they were in contact with me throughout the process. I purchased a gas furnace and because I had no gas line installed, it was quite a process, but made much easier by the good communication and helpfulness of the staff. They were able to get everything completed within two weeks of the time I called, which was a relief given that it was February and I had no heat. My new furnace is working great and I couldn’t be more pleased!

We found this company on Unilocal and are so glad we did! A few months after my mother-​in-​law passed away, it was decided to sell her Vancouver home. We live 3 hours away and have had to hire several contractors/​vendors for repairs and updates. Some vendors were an absolute nightmare to deal with being long distance. But The Heating Specialist was a great experience! Randy in the office handled our scheduling and billing efficiently and with courtesy. Technician Steve handled our service and repair with respect and easy to understand explanations. I’d give 5 stars, but they were a little spendy in comparison to other companies. I’d also have to admit they are worth it!

Called these folks after hearing a really odd noise from the heating unit, I had no idea what had happened or how to fix so I shut everything off and contacted them. The tech, Otto, immediately knew what happened and had the part to fix it WITH him!
They showed up on time, repaired the problem and the cost was more than reasonable. I highly recommend this company.

If six stars was an option I would give it to them.
In the process of having my failing furnace looked at and then replaced I had interactions with 5 people at The Heating Specialist — one coordinating in the office (Randie), a repairman (Steve), a system bidder (and owner Dave) and two installers (whose names are escaping me — sorry guys!) and EVERYONE was so so SO NICE!
They were able to make a next day afternoon appointment, but had a cancelation and were able to move me up several hours to late morning. No sales pitch — it was up to me to decide to replace instead of repair, up to me which system I decided to purchase. All three appointments were dead on time with perfect confirmation calls beforehand. The work was tidy and professional — and as an added aside, the exterior of my house is portland cement, which is not very common outside of small area of portland and can be intimidating to work on. In truth the installer had not worked with it before, but was a pro working carefully and weather sealing his work thoroughly. Plus easy credit card payment:) Hope I won’t need HVAC again real soon, but if I do it will be a pleasure to call THS.

Absolutely wonderful experience! The had a cancelation and were able to get to me the same day. Yay! Otto came out quickly and managed to fix my antique furnace in record time… and he was super nice. If you need a repair or replace, look no further. These people rock, and sweet Randie on the phone is super nice. Bam.

I called The Heating Specialist when my furnace was not working. The service tech was on time and polite. He diagnosed it quickly and was able to repair it right then. He cleaned up the area after he finished working on it. And, I haven’t had any trouble since.
I have also had them to my house to assess and repair my water heater. Same pleasant experience. Overall, I am very satisfied with my experiences.
