. The negotiator knocked off $ 35 a night. True is a 4 star hotel. The staff was friendly & very courteous. The hotel a a couple miles from downtown Portland, but the valet guys were awesome and drove us in the hotel SUV every time! We stayed in a spacious room with a King sized bed. We would definitely stay here again!

Was in Portland for a couple nights on business and stayed here. It was really nice. Bed was comfortable and staff was helpful. I was woken up at 1am by the drunkards in the room next to me, but the front desk took care of that. The weird thing was that the TV didn’t face my bed. All in all, I’d come back.

You know those hotels with friendly staff at the front desk? Yeah this place does not have any friendliness. I called to check in on a reservation and the lady was rude, not helpful, and hung up on me. I mean, we flew into town to celebrate a big birthday. When we checked in, the guy at the front desk was such a douche! Not a great place to represent a great city. It was a letdown for sure. Shame. Will def stay somewhere else next time.

It’s a very nice upscale spa and hotel right on the river. I really enjoyed my stay here overall. I really liked the view from the deck and the spa but the workout facility was only so so.
They have citric water at the front which is great in the morning and don’t bother making coffee in your room the free coffee in the spa area is 10x better.
I was a bit annoyed you have to pay $ 25 for parking and there really isn’t an option not to. It’s not that far from downtown and ubers only run about $ 10 – 13 to downtown depending on where you go.

If it weren’t for the off the beaten path location, this would be amazing. First off, the staff is probably the nicest and most helpful I have encountered. We have stayed at a lot of higher rated top notch hotels, and they are right up there with customer service. We enjoyed our stay there, the views are amazing, and the rooms are clean and spacious. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

I had a great massage therapist named Bobby. My only complaint is that the facility needs a good deep cleaning. I noticed the little details at a spa and they should be clean enough to eat off the ground, especially considering how many people walk thru it in a single day. Dirty grout and bath mats in the shower are a turn off.

Came down to Portland from Seattle for the Trailblazers game. Hotel was easy to find and had a great view. Was easy and inexpensive to get to the Moda Center with an Über. The interior was nice and our room was very spacious with a huge king bed and clean bathroom. Also nice to have the mini fridge and safe.
Before the game my husband and I had a couples massage at the attached salon. The atmosphere was great. Nice comfy robes and the locker rooms at clothing optional whirlpools and saunas. The massages were great and very relaxing.
Only thing is there isnt another parking option besides valet which is 25 a night but with unlimited in and out service 24hours.

This review is just for the bathroom in our river view King room. Large bathroom with great lighting (hey, good lookin’!) and had all the amenities you could need! Soaps and shampoo hanging in the shower all smelled very nice. Nice hot hot water and a overhead rainwater shower head made my apres’ symphony shower so lovely. Very large, soft bath towels and a nice big magnifying mirror were luxuries I don’t get to enjoy every day!
I recommend the room and hotel in general, but the bathroom experience was really top-​notch! Thanks River’s Edge, will stay again as soon as I’m able.

Agree with others. We arrived with it raining and no valet person on site. They will not let you park you own car, so you have to wait. No staff to assist with all our bags, and room is noisey.
They charge you $ 25a night to park too.
Nowhere near town so you need to try and get the valet guy to get your car all the time. Not cool. Would not stay here again.

Love this little hideout. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great Spa too. I get a massage every time we are there. Ask for Ryan if you want a really good massage. He is the BEST. Love the restaurant too. Have not been disappointed with any of our meals.

Watch out for the valet parking scams here. Twice in a row… handed over a $ 10 and asked for change in order to tip. Handed a single.
Me: «I gave you a ten!»
Valet guy: «No, you gave me a five. I don’t have any tens.»
Me: «No it was a ten. And you gave me back a one!»
Valet: «Oh, well here’s three back.»
Happened twice. This place is upscale. There’s no option but to valet park. Watch out.

We stayed in a beautiful room at this hotel. When we arrived, we had a fiasco while checking in. It was nobody’s fault, but extremely inconvenient and disheartening, especially after the three hour drive to get there. The hotel staff understood this and took care of our needs very graciously. We were extremely appreciative of this.
Few problems with minor details — the total amount that we were told over the phone was different than what they charged us. We used the hotel transportation to go downtown, but they failed to tell us that the maximum they could take were seven people. This made it difficult to plan in advance. Also, they have mandatory valet parking for $ 25.00. We would have never done valet otherwise.
Overall, it was a good place to stay. The hotel was beautiful and the food was excellent! Just make sure to ask every question you can think of and confirm each answer. Also, be prepared: This place is very expensive.

I have been staying here for several weeks while my wife is in the hospital. I cannot compliment the staff enough for their going out of their way to make my stay as stress free as possible.
I’ve been staying in a king suite with a view of the river. I’ve found it quiet and peaceful. The restaurant next door does get busy on weekends, and there have been wedding receptions and bachelorette parties. It can get loud when you’re sitting on the balcony, but the room itself is very quiet. Rarely have I heard a sound from the adjoining rooms.
No hotel is perfect, and while a bit pricey it is not out of line with the prices of the hotels downtown. The valet parking, if price is an issue, can be avoided by taking the streetcar to downtown. Portland has an excellent transit system and you can get most anywhere you want to go.
The carpet in the room could use replacement. And the in room coffee service is worthless. But the beds are extremely comfortable, and they serve free coffee downstairs. The bathroom is huge, with both a walk in shower and an oversized tub that a 6 foot man can stretch out in.
I feel comfortable enough about Rivers Edge that I will stay here whenever I am in Portland.

Hotel is mandatory valet parking and the service is shared with a busy restaurant next door. The wait at times may be 7−9+ people waiting for their vehicles. Be aware of the potential long delay if a large group leaves the restaurant, very undesirable if you need the car promptly for a business meeting. The Valet guys really do hustle quickly.
The room walls apparently had minimal insulation. I could easily hear the children next door playing late last night. I called down to the front desk for assistance and held the phone up and the rep could hear the noise from my neighbors as well.
My room was clean and avg size. The location is not downtown but a complimentary shuttle (one way) is available. There is a bike path behind the hotel along the river. They also provide complimentary bicycles.
There is a spa/​nice gym on site.
Not sure if I’d stay here again when on business due to noise, valet delay, and location away from downtown. Rate was reasonable.
Night #2, very loud noise again next door. Clearly hear conversations, very poor insulation in the walls.
Morning #3, can hear conversation of business guy on the other side of me. He’s on his phone talking with a client.

I’ve been to this place a few times and have enjoyed myself every time. There is a spa that I have not tried. There is a exercise room that I have not tried. There are rental bikes that I have not tried.
I have not tried many things at this establishment, but I still would go back again and again. When you are there you are comfortable. Staff members warmly welcome you every time you enter and every time you leave (generally). I have been extremely lucky that each time that I have stayed here I have had a view facing the water. Did I mention the beautiful running/​walking path along the River’s Edge?
A little on the pricey side, but worth it if your looking to be away from the city, but close enough to get into town for activities.

I am a frequent traveler to Portland and got this hotel via a bid site. It is not a hotel that I would pick on my own because of the perceived impression that it is not conveniently located to downtown Portland.
Parking was $ 25 a night which is reasonable compared to other downtown Portland hotels I have stayed at. It was valet parking only with in and out privileges but unlike the other downtown hotels, you didn’t have to give 30 minutes notice to have your car retrieved.
There are complimentary bikes and helmets available and there is someone who will drive you to downtown. I planned on consuming copious amounts of alcohol that night so I took a 3 minute walk up the driveway and get on a Trimet bus for $ 2.50 (gives you riding privileges for 2 ½ hours).
The room was gorgeous. Nice firm bed with a small sitting area. The bathroom was spacious with a huge tub and a separate shower.
My absolute favorite part of the hotel: the gym. Coffee, hot drinks and fruit infused water are offered in the spa lobby. Upstairs is the gym. It is compact but has everything you want: a variety of cardio equipment, free weights, weight machines, bosu balls, various sizes of fitness balls, mats, and foam rollers. It was gym rat heaven.
Would definitely recommend this hotel and would love to stay here again.

Not impressed! This is definitely not a 4-​star hotel. It is a 3-​stars at best.
Pros: The hotel is tucked in a quiet location by the river. Its lobby was inviting and the guest gym/​spa was not bad either. I couldn’t make out the exterior because the building was covered in plastic for their construction. It’s best feature is the restaurant next door — the Aquariva, a modern establishment with an enchanting view of the water. We enjoyed a nice happy hour upon our arrival and my husband really liked the beer.
Unfortunately, the rest of the hotel did not impress us at all. Our room was dated and looked like the inside of a Motel 6. It felt dingy. There was no hot water in the sink. Days before our arrival, I completed an online form to request a crib be placed in our room. At check-​in, I asked the host about it and the he assured me that it was already in the room. It wasn’t. I asked the guy who helped us with our bag and he said he’d bring it up right away. After a long dinner, we came back to the room and still no crib. I called the front desk to ask again and with sincere apology promised it was on its way. It was getting so late after the next and final request, we ended up sleeping with the baby between us.
I would not recommend this hotel. The service is terrible!
The next morning, we checked out 2 days early and moved to the Residence Inn in downtown Portland’s Pearl District. It was fantastic!

This hotel is beautiful with a very friendly front desk staff, the lobby is very clean and has a warm inviting feel to it. We checked in, process did not take long, we asked where a good place to dine was as we checked in late so the main restaurant had already closed, they called us a cab and we went up to the room to freshen up and heading off for dinner.
The room was very clean, had a beautiful bathroom that was also spotless with extra soft towels. The lien on the bed was very soft, had extra pillows and slept toasty warm. We got up the next morning and went to the restaurant for breakfast and it was very nice and relaxing. Who wouldn’t enjoy breakfast and coffee next to the river listening to the birds. Food was fantastic and service was great.
They do have a bloody marry bar that I would 100%recommend relaxing and having a few.

Oh my goodness! BEWARE! Booked a 4 star hotel through Priceline and ended up with this. Staff was super nice and the hotel is really nice overall.
No flat screen or HD TV. See my pictures, all old school box tv’s in room, like really old school. By the way there are 6 flat screens hanging up behind front desk showing pictures. How can this be rated a 4 star hotel?
Also valet only $ 25/​night + tips. What?
Restaurant was closed for private party… What? And you are in a bad area where there is nothing around.
Like I said, staff was super friendly, valet was a jerk, and I blew $ 110+ that’ll I’ll never see again.
HINT: Ask for room 500 is the only room with a flat screen tv. No HD but hey if you’re coming to relax and chill and you want to stay here for some reason, then at least you’ll have better than nothing :)
