We are family owned and operated business. Portland Fireplace and Chimney Inc. is licensed, bonded and insured. Our company has a history of providing excellent service to customers throughout the Portland metro and Vancouver areas. Our family has been living in the northwest and serving the surrounding communities with not only chimney needs, but many other areas of construction; such as roofing, foundation, and forensic leak determination.

Business Owner

Louis Lee was born on Floral PL at home in the Laurelhurst neighborhood.

From a young age he followed in his father’s footsteps, learning the world of business and construction not as a course, but as a way of life. He was an athlete and played basketball in high school and in college locally at PSU. After achieving his athletic goals he pursued the family business. He knew he had to devote himself and use the same work ethic as he learned playing Division 1 basketball.

He had devoted the past three years to the business and earning further certification.

This past year he was nominated and accepted the honor of being the vice president of the Oregon Chimney Sweep Association. Louis also attends and facilitates ongoing education seminars to train local home inspectors and chimney sweep technicians. Louis has a safety first approach and wants all chimney pros to be certified so all residents can enjoy their fireplace worry free.

I highly recommend Portland Fireplace & Chimney. I bought an online coupon for a level 2 inspection. They called immediately to schedule an appointment and came out in 2 days. Jesse was very professional and courteous and informed me that my chimney was completely metal lined; therefore, it did not need a cleaning and they gave me a refund. He went on the roof for an inspection and gave me good news.
I would recommend this company to my friends.

First ever negative review for me.
So, we used the current promotion on Unilocal to get PF&C to come out and clean/​inspect our chimney last week. Their response time to get the appointment time scheduled was insanely prompt and I had high hopes.
The man who did come to clean/​inspect was nice and well-​mannered. So, no complaints there.
We’d had leaking in our fireplace and, with the inspection, they eventually sent an estimate of how much the repairs would cost. We were a bit shocked at how much the estimate was and decided to double check with other chimney cleaning companies to get a second opinion.
Thank goodness we did. Turns out that either PF&C didn’t clean our chimney or did such a bad job it did not make a difference at all. Also, they’d left the damper open and we could’ve had issues if we hadn’t called in someone else. The estimate was WAY over, too.
So, looks like we wasted our money. I hope other people get the quality service that I’ve seen raved about here.

I called PF&C for estimate to rebuild our firebox in our new home. Due to timing, we hired another company to clean our chimney and at that time, we were told we needed a complete rebuild of the firebox. We decided to call PF&C for a competitive quote and they were able to get someone out to scope the job within a week.
The two gentlemen who arrived at my house were friendly, professional and also full of very good news. I was told that our firebox was not, in fact, in need of a rebuild. They saved me $ 1,500 right off the bat and also patiently explained why the firebox was in perfectly good shape and reassured me of its safety.
It pays to get a second opinion and also to hire a company, like Portland Fireplace and Chimney, that is accredited and certified in their trade. I will call them in the spring when we’re ready to have some external work done on the chimney.

My experience with this company is one I would expect from every service company out there: Great customer service, timely and efficient, genuine and friendly staff, and willingness to share their expertise.
I had no problems scheduling a chimney cleaning. Spoke with a friendly person on the phone and was able to get an appointment within a week. She already knew I had purchased the Unilocal coupon (oh the creepiness of the internet!), so she made sure to note this in the work order. I received a reminder phone call the day before (always helpful). When the team of two showed up (even a few minutes early!), they were respectful of not wearing shoes in our home and kept their workspace sealed and clean. They noted I had a Unilocal coupon, which made me feel that there was good communication within their company. I hate having to remind every person I am in contact with that I have a coupon! Later, after voicing some concerns regarding smoke pluming into our home after our first fire (we had recently moved into the home), they made sure to start a fire themselves to troubleshoot any issues before leaving. Some companies will just come in, do the work and leave but these guys not only did a wonderful job but took the time to give me tips on care and maintenance of my fireplace and also how to build a solid fire. Their visit lasted about 30 minutes.
I would certainly use this company again. I felt their pricing was reasonable as well.

I did my research — read a few articles, watched a few Youtube videos, and read reviews until my vision blurred — and decided to go with Portland Fireplace and Chimney for my new wood burning fireplace insert. Sadly, with so much growth in the Portland housing market the bar for contractors, plumbers and electricians is so low that people are happy just to have someone show up and do shoddy work at exorbitant rates.
Portland Fireplace and Chimney has been a nice surprise as I go from project to project on my 1926 house. Not only were they quick to respond to my questions and make suggestions, they also provided the notices ALL contractors (including electricians and plumbers) are required to provide homeowners BEFORE they enter an agreement and do the work. Such notices include: Consumer Protection Notice, notice regarding Construction Liens, and a Notice of Procedure regarding dispute resolution. The latter may seem minor, but I suspect that if a contractor is following these most basic rules and requirements they are less likely to take advantage of uninformed homeowners who trust them to come into their homes and provide a quality service or product for a fair price.
The peace of mind is very much worth the price of admission.

It took a little bit for the chimney sweep to come here because of scheduling snafus, but that wasn’t his fault. Be sure when you call in they get the correct address, that will resolve a lot of issues. Once he arrived, wow, did he do a good job! He let me know what kind of shape my fireplace was in and he cleaned it without any mess leftover. Would I call them again??? YOU BET!

Found them on Unilocal,great service and a fare price. The did an awesome job. Put new caps on the chimney and fixed the mason work around the top. They also cleaned my chimney. I’m always worried that it’s not clean, since I’ve had two friends houses burn down. SO KEEP IT CLEAN!

After moving into a new home, we wanted to be sure our fireplace and chimney were in good working order before using them. These guys were courteous and prompt from the first contact (via email). On the day of service, they were running a bit late, and someone from the office called to leave a voicemail telling us. A bit later, she called back again just to be sure we got the message. (!) When they arrived, Louis and his assistant were total pros and very nice. They listened to what we wanted, then explained what they would do, then did it. They were very careful not to dirty up our clean living room, and put everything back in place before they left. Will definitely use them again.

After a chimney inspection and cleaning, we found out that it had been neglected for a while and needed quite a bit of work. Louis and his crew were professional, timely, and did a fantastic job rebuilding the top portion of our chimney and installing much needed flashing. The masonry work was beautifully done. Excellent, professional, and thorough work! Louis & his assistant were very respectful of our money-​pit (home) taking their shoes off outside, walking only on blankets they put down, & the detailed cleaning. Louis responded to our request for quote earlier this week. He was honest about the amount of work and related cost that would be required for rebuild of our garage apartment chimney. He also provided a bid for chimney flue cleaning of our main home fireplace. We declined the rebuild but asked Lewis to proceed with the cleaning of our main home flue. He was very responsive and only a couple of days after we requested the initial quote Lewis was knocking at the door to do the work.
He did a great job. After the cleaning he explained what he had done and what steps we could take to preserve our 1918 homes chimney so that we could enjoy it for countless years to come. Lewis also left the work area clean. All we had to do was move the grate back into place!
I would recommend Lewis’ services to anyone needing chimney repair.

Louis from Portland Fireplace & Chimney is the best!!! We had a chimney emergency — yes, there is such a thing! — and even though I called late on a Friday afternoon when he was already fully booked, he made a real effort to solve my problem and came in the evening. Very impressive!
And what was our emergency? A crow stuck in our chimney! The poor thing had been in there for several days and Louis was very professional in his approach to getting him out — which he did, safe & sound!

My wife and I recently purchased a home in East Moreland (Portland). Prior to our purchase an inspector noted the need for a chimney cleaning and an inspection of the chimney on the roof. We asked the inspector for a recommendation and he advised us that Portland Fireplace and Chimney was the best. We contacted Louis Lee, who is the co-​owner (I believe), and he provided the cleaning and inspection (on the roof) for $ 89; we considered that a very good deal. The chimney structure inside the house was totally cleaned out — no muss, no fuss.
Louis determined that the chimney on the roof was (almost literally) being held together by paint. He provided a very reasonable estimate for dismantling and re-​building the chimney — an extensive amount of work. All the work was done under Louis’ direct supervision and every aspect of the job was first rate. Everything was super clean at the end, even with this very messy job.
Louis stays in excellent touch via phone/​email and provides pictures of the re-​build taken from the roof. I highly recommend Portland Fireplace and Chimney as an excellent company — one that is run by competent business people and highly skilled craftsmen. They are reasonably priced and very high quality.
