Every time I go to Portland I must stop here! It’s my favorite place!
I always get the Reggie Deluxe!!! Yes! You must try this! Compared to just the Reggie this one adds an egg to it! C’mon! Be adventurous! It’s definitely a heart stopper! Fresh biscuit, fried chicken, BACON, cheeeeese and oh so yummy I can’t believe it’s so good I want more GRAVY!!!
The biscuits are fresh. The cheese is melted just right. When you bite into it the egg melts and mixes with the gravy and makes it even more delicious! I highly recommend.
So put in your order and find a seat! Sometimes it’s really busy and you might have to wait to find a seat, but they do have counter seating as well as communal tables. ENJOY!

Don’t let the line outside deter you from this glorious establishment. I made that mistake once, but rest assured NEVER again.
The Reggie is a must-​try and I quite enjoyed it — however, the apple butter was outstanding. Hailing from the south, I can confidently assert that this fruity goodness would make Colonel Sanders hisself blush.
The hash browns and fries both looked amazing and I’m upset I doubled up on biscuits instead of giving them a shot. Eh who am I kidding — I should have gone for a third biscuit + apple butter.

I don’t think I can say much that hasn’t been said already. Located on trendy Alberta Street, we arrived fairly early before the majority of the nearby stores and boutiques had opened. Whilst exploring an intoxicating smell of baked goods wafted into our path. Following our noses we made our way toward Pine State Biscuits and got in line, hypnotized.
I ended up getting the Reggie, while my companion opted for biscuits with jam. Be prepared to indulge because the PSB sandwiches are hardy. The Reggie consists of fried chicken, bacon and cheese sandwiched between biscuit halves. (If you’re feeling frisky you can opt for the deluxe which throws an egg in) All of that smothered in rich gravy. It is amazing.
In a nice contrast, the biscuits with jam were pretty light in comparison to the heaviness of the sandwich. It really gives the fluffy biscuits a chance to shine themselves. We had it with the marionberry spread, which was very tasty.
You can’t go wrong with either sweet or savory styles of biscuits as both are delicious.

Make sure you come here with a big appetite because the food is delicious and LARGE portions. I always make sure we come here for brunch.

PINE STATE BISCUITS
This was my favorite restaurant in Portland. Maybe it was due to the fact that it was totally unhealthy and my inner beast wanted to break out! Or, it was because signature Reggie Biscuit Sandwich was voted one of the top 10 sandwiches in Portland! Anyhow, the Reggie was amazing!!! Featuring a fried chicken under two crispy/​chewy biscuits, smothered in gravy, it was delicious and satisfied my growling stomach, eliciting alarms that it was time to hit the gym to work off the enormous amounts of calories that were just consumed with delight!!! Everything here is self-​serve, so enjoy your biscuit sandwich while getting your own water! Southern-​style food never tasted so good!!!

Um… yum! The Reggie biscuit sandwich is a great blend of crunchy (the fried chicken and bacon) and oozy (the gravy). Stacked between a buttermilk biscuit, this sandwich is worth eating for here, or at least to go.
Come here for a filling and flavorful southern style breakfast /​brunch that is down right good and affordable. Great for kids!

The line is usually stupid long, so keep that in mind if your trying to make a Sunday brunch or Saturday breakfast.
Besides that, everything was good. Went with a big group so got to try a little of everything.

This place is a Portland staple in the food department. They’re always packed and there’s always a line. This time the line was out the door and around the corner but it only took about 20 min to finally get to order. Then comes the challenge of finding a seat especially if you’re a group larger than 3. Seating is hella limited to start and how busy they constantly are doesn’t help the situation out any. They do offer outdoor seating that they’ve have the ability to put some all weather covering up when needed. This does add a bit of seating to the situation.
The Reggie is my personal favorite and off the chain. I get mine with sausage gravy and I add the amazeballs apple butter. Just a heads up, it can be messy but well worth the efforts. The apple butter is sooo damn yummy. They offer two types of gravy; mushroom and well, yeah the sausage. Their fries are the bomb too! We get them cajun style with the sausage gravy. The serving size is very generous for these so be sure to order one batch for like 2 or 3 people b/​c the biscuit sandwiches are HUGE.
They do have a few beers on tap and I think they’ve got some budget cans as well. My wife likes their coffee too which says a lot.
Their pricing is pretty fair. You’ll spend about $ 30 for 2 people. The service if friendly and welcoming. They offer serve yourself water which is always a sign of a business that cares imo. This is a self bus establishment so remember that. I do find that different and quite confusing how here in Portland some make you bus your own, other places will bus for you and there’s not always a sign up defining which side of the fence a restaurant is on.

You can’t possibly eat at Pine State Biscuits and leave hungry. The wait can be treacherous, to say the least… but the biscuits are light, fluffy, and perfectly delicious.
My favorite item probably warrants a heart attack, but it’ll be a delicious attack… The Reggie Deluxe (fried chicken, bacon, cheese, gravy, egg served on a biscuit). I do prefer the shiitake gravy! The Chatfield (fried chicken, bacon, cheese, apple butter) is also quite tasty! And don’t forget a side of grits — they’re beautifully creamy.

THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE ON THE COLDEST OF MORNINGS WAKING UP IN PORTLAND– you don’t even need coffee with your amazing breakfast because you need to booze up. I’m pretty sure if you read my Portland reviews that I use legit AF about everything that I’ve had because it is the only way that I can describe my experiences here.
Lucky us (again), there was no line! It’s one of those order first and then pray that you find a seat. We got lucky and picked a spot at the counter with full view of the open kitchen and priority seats to the bathroom. It’s spaced out well so no need to worry about bumping elbows with other people. But the people are so nice here, you don’t even have to worry. The team dynamics is amazing and everything gets put out really quickly and fresh.
I decided on the Reggie Deluxe (9) which basically includes the egg on an extra dollar. It comes with house fresh (FLUFFY) biscuits, I asked for the gravy on the side, fried chicken, bacon, and cheese. The fried chicken was cooked to perfection with a thicker breading than I usually like but it was able to keep all the juices in the meat. Each bite was perfection and the egg was worth the extra dollar. The gravy itself was pipping hot and slamming with flavors that I can’t describe to you. Dipping my biscuits in it and the chicken was the best thing ever. With that, I also ordered Kitty Hawk which is bourbon and Arnold Palmer. No worries, they don’t judge if you drink at 8am because it’s actually highly encouraged.
If you’re in Portland this is the breakfast to be at. Nothing is better that house biscuits and home style gravy with fried chicken! They’re not stingy with portions and you can order extra biscuits or gravy. I wished I had the chance to try their shrimp grits because I watched the cook make like 20 of them while I was sitting there. This is real food that feeds the soul.

Some serious Breakfast Brunch!
I believe Pine State is one of the more well known, loved and highly rated breakfast/​brunch spots in Portland. This food here was just phenomenal!
I got the Reggie Deluxe, Bloody Mary and split Hash Ups with my buddy
The Bloody Mary was soooo good. Easily one of the best I had. Right amount of spicy and tang accompanied by a slice of lemon, a pickled Okra, a pearl onion and celery… delish!
The Reggie Deluxe was simply heaven! Perfect piece of fried chicken, juicy, tender, not oily, the right amount of crisp… delish! Then there was melted cheese, slice of bacon and the ridiculously good gravy… a ton of flavor! Can’t forget the perfectly done biscuit… light and fluffy! My mouth is watering as I write this review… DROOL! Wish I could have one now! A good size meal that is not light, but so tasty I had to finish it all in one sitting!
Finally on to the Hash Ups… Nice healthy pieces of chopped Steak, perfectly done hash browns with green onions, mushrooms and melted cheese… another amazing dish!
Come early if you can, because this place gets packed! Well worth the wait, will definitely return when in the area!

The ONLY thing not to completely love here is the line that awaits you during busy times (which has been every time we have visited).
Because you can customize your order, you would either have to hate biscuits or have no taste buds to have a bad meal at Pine State!
This is a regular «go-​to» spot (any location) for me when in Portland.

Our family came into town today, and wanted to try this place after seeing it on Guy Fierris show.
We had the pop tart which I loved; had a cranberry compote with lemon icing on top.
I had the Reggie’s deluxe; which was a biscuit with fried chicken, egg, cheese and gravy. It was good, but I wasn’t ecstatic about it.
My sister had the hash browns with steak and mushrooms that I really liked!
I really loved the décor and set up, and that you order first. The prices were very fair!
In all honesty however, I love the biscuits and gravy at Screen Door a lot more!

The Reggie Deluxe ($ 9) is one of the best meals I have ever had. I’m going to be craving that gravy constantly! It is a biscuit sandwich with fried chicken, bacon, cheese, and egg covered in creamy, savory gravy. It was AMAZING and a must try if you’re in Portland.
My boyfriend got the Chatfield ($ 8) which replaces the gravy for apple butter. It was sweet and tasty but not nearly as outstanding as the Reggie Deluxe.
This place is worth the wait! We got here around noon and it was about a 20 min wait outside. It’s nice that there’s heaters outside so you’re not freezing while you wait.

This place is what dreams are made of. Delicious biscuit-​filled dreams.
There was a short line when I was here, but it didn’t take long for our group of 5 to order and snag a table. Tips: don’t prop the door open on cold days and chairs can’t be placed on the aisle side of table due to fire hazard.
I got the Reggie Deluxe with sausage gravy and a cup of Stumptown Cold brew. It was everything I had anticipated and more. Super messy though, so don’t get this on a first date or when you’re wearing your cutest top. The Wedgie, the Steak Club, and the Chatfield were also ordered by my table and every single plate was finished before we left. I tried them all and thought they were all tasty but the Reggie Deluxe was the perfect choice for me. Everything was deliciously indulgent and over-​the-​top and just perfect for a chilly morning.
Pine State Biscuits will be my first stop when I return to Portland.

O. M. G. Before coming to Pine State Biscuits, I was never really a big fan of biscuits and gravy, or biscuits for that matter. They were always just like, meh, to me. But I am converted. Their biscuits are AMAZING… You MUST get The Moneyball, and you MUST double-​down (2 sunny-​side up eggs). My husband and I visited Portland for an extended weekend, and with all the really good food spots around town, you wouldn’t go somewhere twice on such a short trip. WE CAME HERE TWICE. It’s that good. Do it. You won’t be disappointed. I’m only disappointed that I didn’t have enough room to try their fries with gravy, etc.
Extra notes: Expect a line for brunch on weekends, but it goes quick enough. You’ll order at the counter before taking a seat. Sit outside on the patio, even if it’s a little chilly. They have heat lamps.

Hot, gooey, biscuity, fried chicken mess with a smattering of sausage gravy. Yes please! On a crisp autumn Tuesday a little past noon, I meandered into Pine State Biscuits and was welcomed warmly and found no line. Score!
Having done a little pre-​research on their menu, I opted for a Reggie Deluxe, hash browns, and an Arnold Palmer to split with my boyfriend. The Reggie Deluxe was a hunk of fried chicken, a slice of melty cheese, and sausage gravy on a biscuit. Pretty delectable and might have been too much to eat just by myself. The side of hash browns was thin and crisply brown and covered an entire plate. Simple but delicious.
There are a few benches and tables to sit outside when the weather is lovely.
In hindsight, we should have ordered more food due to my overestimation of how big the Reggie would be. However with the practically-​binge-​eating-​24/​7 I was doing on my first trip to Portland, it would not have been physically doable. Next time though! Would def recommend as a solid breakfast/​brunch joint.

I waited in line on a cold Sunday morning and it was totally worth it.
Husband had the club, which had some house made pimento cheese he said was to die for, some grits shaped into a pancakey kind of nigiri sushi looking bite with some pork on it (check out my photo) and it was mouth bliss! I had a hard time choosing but got the wedgie — you know, ice berg lettuce with house made blue cheese dressing, biscuity goodness, chickeny bites, fried green tomato noms, and then I put some of the hot sauce on it and took it to a level unheard of. The summit of yummy mountain was achieved!
We also ordered just a plain old biscuit and some jam and had to suppress the mouthgasm so as to not startle the two guys sharing our table, although they were rocking out to the incredible hash browns and couldn’t be disturbed.
An hour later I wanted to go back and eat some more. Then I had a biscuity burp that was awesome and thought to myself, oh yes, we shall return. Yes.

Hail hail, the hype is real at the original. The wait was 1.5 hours. But the food to go came out piping hot! You could see the biscuit guy making biscuits in the window. (Tip: Original is way better than the other location. It’s worth the wait at the Original to get your food hot!)
The biscuits and gravy won me over. The biscuits were just so soft and fluffy and the gravy was amazing!
Hash up: Delicious! That hash is so crispy, makes the whole dish amazing with all the steak and mushroom toppings.
Reggie: Also delicious! The chicken here is if good quality, so the sandwich is good and the bacon enhances the flavor.
Getting things to share is your best bet so you get to try multiple things.

OMG THIS ROCKED MY WORLD!!!
Get the Reggie with sausage gravy. Hands down the best of its kind I’ve ever had. I’ll be dreaming about these biscuits for months to come. I wasn’t even hungry when my friends dragged me over here for a super early breakfast, but I could NOT stop myself from shoveling spoonful after spoonful into my mouth. I would soak in a tub of this sausage gravy if I could. With my mouth open of course.
