I was excited to try this place out. We were there for an early lunch. The fryer was not on, the kitchen looked disgusting. The drinks fridge is falling apart, the tables were dirty… Well you get the picture. The place was not clean or tidy. A lot of this can be forgiven if the food is good. unfortunately it was not. I have no idea what the fish was, but it was fishy, that kind of «this fish is old» taste, maybe it was some old plaice or something. I was not a fan of the batter as it was really, really lemony. The fries were, well, crap. Anyhow. Enough of this drivel. I cannot recommend this place, but as with everywhere I review I will go at least 3 times. if my experience improves I will update this review, but it won’t be for a while…

Doesn’t say anywhere on the menu that it’s catfish and doesn’t taste anything like catfish, therefore it can’t be catfish like the other reviewer says. This is not authentic fish and chips. The worst part is, we were lied to and told that the potato salad was home made, yet we were served Reeser’s potato salad, from Costco perhaps along with the fish? Again, being blatantly lied to was the worst part. The food was the second worst part. Not to mention the cheap hodge podge décor… of which I normally don’t care about… unless I’m lied to.

When I used to live in Tallahassee(Go Noles!) there used to be Shingles Chicken Shack in the hood. All they had was the best fried chicken in town. This place reminds of them except for catfish. All they serve here is catfish, fries and potato salad, soda and a few desserts, nothing else. Don’t come here expecting gluten-free or vegan items, walk up the(Alberta) street and you can gluten-free out your soul. The catfish here is in a cornmeal base, fried not to hard and not too soft with the right amount of Southern spices. This place will do well in any southern town because they do one thing well, they can fry some catfish!
