The Oregon Ballet School is a private, year around school with a full ballet curriculum designed around the syllabi of the Royal Academy of Dance in London, England. The school is dedicated to excellence in ballet training for aspiring professionals or enthusiastic hobbyists. In the Children’s Division (ages 4 – 11), instruction is designed to develop basic motor skills as well as balletic technique and vocabulary. The school promotes the enjoyment of dance in a supportive environment.
In the Pre-Professional Division, students 11 and older progress from the Intermediate Foundation through the Advanced levels. Pointe work is introduced in this division for students taking a minimum of three classes per week at OBS.
Oregon Ballet School features well appointed facilities including two studios opening up to a large lobby, the perfect place for parents to wait for their child, along with a kitchen and snack area.
Once a year, OBS students prepare and perform a program for their families and friends. Programs consist of demonstrations of work from the students syllabi together with dances choreographed by the director. The End Of Year show has become a popular and well attended event.

Oregon Ballet School enjoys being able to serve the people of Portland for over 36 years. Our mission is to instill the love of ballet in each student we have the privilege of instructing. We look forward to adding you to our long list of happy students.
Meet the Business Owner
Leslie B.
Business Owner
Leslie Baird, BPhil (Honors), A.R.A.D., received her Bachelor of Philosophy degree in Ballet and Contextual Studies from the University of Durham, England and is a graduate of the Professional Dancers’ Teaching Course at the Royal Academy of Dance in London. She is an RAD Registered Teacher and an Associate of the Royal Academy of Dance. She began her training in ballet, tap and jazz at age six and furthered her ballet training at the San Francisco Ballet School and the Centre de Danse in Cannes, France. Ms. Baird studied Baroque Dance in the French Noble Style for five summers at the Stanford University workshops founded by Wendy Hilton. Six pieces of her choreography featuring her advanced dancers appeared in the «Ballet Showcase» events at the Newmark Theater in Portland. Leslie has been a judge and member of Master Faculty for international dance competitions and is now serving as a Practical Teaching Supervisor for the Royal Academy of Dance.
