Established in 1999.

I studied and opened my business in Philadelphia and then practiced while I lived in Dallas. Now here in Portland and I am so very happy to be here. I belong to the National Gild of Hypnotists and I adhere to their Code of Conduct and Business Practices. Gary A Meyer is a nationally certified hypnotherapist with over ten years of experience. Gary provides clients with tools to effectively improve their lives, allowing them to successfully navigate their way through life’s difficult situations, modify unwanted behavior, and improve their lifestyles. Gary recently moved to Portland, Oregon for both strategic and personal reasons, with the intention of opening a new hypnotherapy practice. This intention has come to fruition in the form of MindSet Hypnosis. Portland, with its eclectic culture and well-​known support of alternative lifestyles, Gary knew this was a place he wanted to be in order to help people. Gary looks to pursue his career, working with people to improve their lives through cultivating healthier, more productive habits and eliminating unhealthy behaviors.

I recently finished my three sessions to quit smoking. This was my first experience with hypnosis and although I was hopeful, I was prepared for it to not work. I’ve smoked for about 5 years (I’m 24). I’ve tried every method in the past, from cold turkey to vape pens to nicotine gum and nothing worked. To my amazement, after my first session I barely wanted a cigarette. After the second, I didn’t even want to look at one. The third session made them almost invisible to me, although mildly disgusting when I smell one.
The best part? Not only is this the easiest week and a half I’ve gone in 5 years without smoking, but Gary helped me replace my nicotine habit with drinking more water. Every time I feel stressed, instead of reaching for a smoke I reach for water.
I highly recommend Gary to anyone trying to quit a bad habit. He also helps with overeating, biting nails, etc. Super professional and you’ll feel relaxed and happy after the sessions. Thanks again Gary

I had a follow up appointment today, 8 months later. Found myself in a bit of a rut. Gary takes time to find out what’s going on and really considers the best way to reach you. So very positive!
I also wanted to address anyone who might be skeptical or concerned about what Gary is communicating during the session. He is legit! I’ve had friends ask about that. No worries here. If you’re considering it, buy the special 3 session package and see if it works for you. I’m so glad I did! There is true value in these sessions!!! I have no hesitation about paying full price for future sessions.

I have recently finished all three of my sessions. I will update in the future with results, but already I feel less inclined to go for unhealthy choices. This was my first experience with hypnosis, and it really did seem like I lost track of time. Gary is very good at putting you in a relaxed state, and brings up great ideas of how to incorporate weight loss into everyday life without making it a pain.
He has a manner that just puts you at ease. The office is calm and comfortable, parking is convenient and he works around your schedule.
He even sends you MP-3’s with the sessions so you can listen to them again. This is a great service. However, I’m not that technical and don’t have a program to burn MP-3’s, so Gary made me one right at our session.
After our last session, I tried to use the CD and it didn’t work, so he sent me the files again, and even mailed me out another copy. I rarely get service that goes above and beyond like that. I would recommend his services to anyone.

Gary Meyers truly helped save me from one more day of slavery to cigarettes. I went in with a pretty heavy habit and not competely sure that hypnosis was real or that it could work. I was wrong. Very. I walked out after one session a non smoker.
The most amazing bit was that I have had the some of the best sleep of my adult life. I am no longer poisoning my system with nicotine which helps sleep but more importantly I listen to my session every night as I go to sleep. Not only does this reinforce that I am non smoker but relaxes me and lets my brain quiet down for deep and peaceful sleep.
I am now seeing Gary for other issues that have plagued me my entire adult life… again after one session I felt like some very real habits are fading into just something I used to do. I have recommended him and will continue to do so for anyone who is hitting walls trying to change their lives.

Gary Meyer helped me get over a hump I’ve been trying to get over for years. I am 33 now and have struggled with compulsive overeating since I was in my single digits. Depression, anxiety, and the eating disorder all slowly led me down a path where my life was miserable. And I didn’t see a way out.
The thing I think a lot of people need to consider when seeking hypnotherapy is that you are such a huge part of the process. Yes you. Gary is your catalyst to help you get what you want. But this isn’t as simple as a light switch turning off and on. You have work to do, and you have to get your mind right. That’s why Mindset is the perfect name for his business. If you are of the right mindset, working with Gary can help you get over that hump. Hypnosis isn’t going to push you up the hill. That’s your job. But when you stall? That’s where it helps. And that’s how it helped me.
Since I’ve seen Gary I have quit smoking, been lifting weights regularly for almost a year, and am managing my eating disorder with much much greater success. I still have my days where I struggle. I don’t know if that will ever go away. But when I feel like I need a boost I listen to the audio recording he provided to me and it reinforces the groundwork laid at our session.
I can’t thank him enough for his help and his work. He is a very compassionate man that obviously wants to help you succeed. Thank you Gary.

I first heard about Gary Meyer from my boyfriend. I was a bit skeptic about hypnosis…
I have had three visits with Gary, each one added to my life in a positive way. The first session was to help me kick the habit of drinking soda. I have drank either a Pepsi or a Coke daily since I was a teen. Although this is common in our society it is in fact an addiction. Since that session nearly three months ago, I have not had a desire to drink soda!
The second session focused on motivation to exercise on a more frequent basis. I am not over weight… This was not a weight loss session. This was to increase motivation and manage my personal time to make it ok with myself to take time to go to the gym. This was also a success. I found myself finding ways to talk myself into being at the gym where normally I would talk myself out of going and/​or create reasons that I could not go.
The third session was for focus and business motivation. This was for a small business I have been slowly working on. I have seen minor changes on this topic. But, this particular issue for me has many layers to it… It will be something that will require more than one session.
Gary records your session and sends you the file. I listen to all my recordings nightly. I can tell a major difference when I slack off on doing this. I feel Gary Meyer was very helpful, professional and genuinely cares about helping his clients. I am now a huge advocate for this type of therapy.

I saw Gary at the beginning of august for stuttering. Somewhat of a creepy guy, he let me into his house and had me get comfortable on his couch. He asked me some basic questions about my experience and then we got started. His dogs barked occasionally throughout the session from a back room. After the session I left quickly. I found no change in my behavior or the nature of my problem. Gary wrote me an email starting with the phrase: «Got a bit over loaded yesterday and today.» Not my idea of professional discourse. As of now, less than one month later, my speech problems are worse than ever and i see absolutely no advantage from my session. Charlatan.

My hypnosis session with Gary has been life changing. Everything I went into the session looking for was accomplished, and then some…
Gary was extremely thorough in discussing and understanding the issue we were treating and he tailored my session to what was explored in my consultation. This helped me understand my problem on a deeper level– they don’t throw the word therapy in there for nothing!
Beyond this, I found the session immensely relaxing. I hold a lot of tension in my body and I felt it all melt away. The relaxing effect alone was worth the visit not to mention the fact that Gary helped me find relief from an issue I’ve struggled with the majority of my life. Boo-​yah.
