History
Established in 2002.
Jam on Hawthorne is a neighborhood breakfast café in southeast Portland, Oregon. Jam is known for delicious breakfast served in huge portions, lunch on weekdays, and exceptional cocktails from our full bar. Our restaurant is also the largest non-gallery art space in the city. We support local artists by hanging and selling their art, giving them 100% of all proceeds.
Jam is named Jam because of two things… jam and jam bands. We make our own jam; it’s on every table, and it’s delicious. We also love music. Originally, we played a whole lot of the Grateful Dead. Over the years as we have grown from a handful of employees to more than 30, our musical taste has evolved to include music of all kinds. You’ll hear all sorts of jams while you enjoy our housemade jam.
In our opinion, mimosas make everything better. Bloody Marys are a food group. Beer is a breakfast drink. If you add Emergen-C to a cocktail, it becomes a healthy juice concoction. Our full bar is available whenever we’re open.
