Love this place. Funky vibes, great food. The wall is covered in interesting art, a lot of which moves and reflects light. There’s a Jesus lamp that sits by the kitchen bar area. And the workers seem like genuinely sweet people. Definitely one of my favorite brunch spots on SE Belmont.

This is one of those places… those places you wake up and plan your ENTIRE day around. I don’t even want to tell you, because I don’t want to have to wait for a table. ;) Wild Abandon has the best biscuits I have ever had. And I am from the dirty south. Their gravy is awesome, their omelettes are perfection, the prime rib hash has a horseradishy sauce which is out of this world. The Hungarian mushroom soup even had a dollop of sour cream in it. I am sensing the cheffers have some Eastern Europeanness. I know about that. And I love it. So far, best breakfast in Portland. Ever.

First time here, we came for brunch. The restaurant was full, so we had to wait about 10 minutes. Once we were seated, the waiter was very friendly and explained the menu to us. The wait time for our food was not very long. I ordered Ginger’s Omelet with the potato cakes, and unfortunately it wasn’t very satisfying. The omelet was very greasy and the grease soaked part of my toast so I couldn’t eat it. The potato cakes sounded like they would be delicious, but they were okay. It didn’t taste like it was seasoned at all. We also got the Sunday Morning Scramble and it was amazing! I wish I had gotten that instead! Overall, it was a great first-time experience. I would visit again, but definitely order something different.

Amazing everything!!! Great service, great food. Best restaurant in town!!! Even though I know you did not invent the Manmosa and several places in town have it it seem like you did because you make them soooooo good

The food is great, the ambiance is rad. However, there’s no excuse for serving something called a «man-mosa»(a pint of mimosa). Wild Abandon, your misogyny is showing. Can I please get an extra tiny mimosa for my tiny woman hands?

Forget the long lines at Screen Door! Wild Abandon’s fried chicken is just as good, if not better! It’s a quaint restaurant in SE Portland with a small dining room and a large cover & heated back patio. You will rarely wait for a table here! Great place! Highly recommended!

Wonderfully attentive staff. I ordered off the happy hour menu and got the cheeseburger and fries. The cheeseburger reminded me of my moms growing up. It was juicy, round, messy and just yummy. Excellent happy hour menu with a variety of vegetarian options as well. Have had the portobello burger and it is one of the best in town.

Ordered to go brunch. Hungry man with country ham and a side of potato cakes. The French toast was amazing with all of it, everything was perfect. Best brunch we’ve had ever. We will come back for sure! Only problem was that they gave us the wrong change by a couple dollars, but we realized too late! Not a problem for us the food was so good.

Meh not a fan. The place was kinda cool and servers were super nice but food was terrible. My food was burnt to a crisp and had no flavor. Everybody else I was with had small portions and left hungry. I don’t get it? We also could not figure out the concept for restaurant ??? They did have these cool oil lamps with dripping oil. I don’t know… My official opinion is this place sucks.

I got nothing bad to say about this place. Hence the 5 stars. I may think of something bad by the end of the review, but I will still award it 5 stars. The place is cozy and comfy — table and booths and not too crowded in which I do not like. The waiter was just lovely, the other patrons lively but not too loud. On a Wednesday at 7, they were maybe half full. I had to wait, so I got the garlic bread and a bacon wrapped stuffed popper. Both were simply wonderful. You gotta do something a little different/special with your garlic bread to win me over and this was so wonderfully greasy and cheesy I couldn’t stop! The popper also great, not very hot(yeah) but the pepper a tad underdone. I liked their sangria, but it’s not my favorite in the world. I have come to find that people make it quite different everywhere you go. I tend to like my booze a little sweeter than they serve it. I got the steak bites & mash which was awesomesauce and my friend oredered the muchroom veggie grilled plate. I didnt pay that much attention because it consisted of a lot of vegetables. big ones. They were delicious, just veggies. the food is affordable and hearty and served by nice folks. You can’t get much better than that. You should check this place out! I thought of the bad thing… I left my steak & mash leftovers in my hot car so I did not get any :(.

All the food was really good besides our very burnt fries. The place is very laid back. I liked the environment but this summer is a scorcher and it being so small with no wall to block the kitchen and no air conditioning set up we were all dying inside. I had sweat dripping from my face while I did nothing but sit. I would go back but not until a season change. I felt bad for the workers because this summer is going to be a long one.

Wild Abandon is a pleasant brunch location. We really enjoyed the porch area hidden from view in the backside of the restaurant. They even allowed our dog to sit out there even though the only way to access is through the front bar area. The menu is highly diverse, creative, and vegetarian-friendly, so it has something for everyone. I ordered the chicken fried chicken and my wife had the vegan French toast. For all the creative build up, we were a bit disappointed by the end-product, which is keeping it from being a 5-star choice in my mind. But hey, I’m one opinion of many.

I really enjoyed this little place, best BLT ive had in a long time, the place was pretty empty and the wait staff was no where to be found, I waited for forever to pay my check and then ended up having to go track someone down. three stars for the food, none for the service.

Amazing, huge outdoor patio! You would never know they have this! There’s a huge tree and plenty of umbrellas to provide some shade. My new favorite spot on a warm day! Went for happy hour. It’s from 4:30 — 6:30 and their huge delicious burger and fries is part of the the menu! It’s only $ 8 and was juicy, flavorful and large. My husband ordered the pulled pork sandwich, which was ok. They have a lot of drink specials! We’ll definitely be back to try more of the menu and to enjoy drinks on the patio.

Full bar which is always a plus in my book. It’s a nice little shwanky little place to grab a drink and or breakfast. Food was fresh and gives options for everyone. I decided on the pulled pork hash and it was okay. I’ve had better breakfasts at other places but girl I took there loved her pancakes. Good funky artwork which gives it the Portland feel and it was a breakfast place which wasn’t swamped and the coffee was great and service was fast.

First a warning. The seating is close. And I found it very loud. It probably was my choice of seats next to a group of 3 older musicians. I think their ears are giving out as they were talking a lot louder than needed about 2′ from my head… I am getting older too and a lound place just is not my kind of place anymore. But this place is still so good it gets 5 stars from me. It looks like a dive from the outside. Inside is Funky Dive. I should have taken a pic of the Jesus lamp on the bar. the walls were covered in artwork that looked like stuff left over from yard sales but did not sell… We were seated quickly. Orders taken right away from friendly staff. Salad came in a timely manner. We shared a Willamette Dream salad. Grilled apple slices, gorgonzola cheese, candied walnuts, currents. Not excellent but very good. Then we had the Polenta Pizza and the Country Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy. Easily 5 stars. The polenta pizza was full of flavor. The chicken still has me humming. The check came within a few minutes of our first bite… I like that. The restaurant was about half full when we arrived at 6pm on a Thursday. And by 6:30 it was packed. So we will definitely come back but next time we will be there at 5:30 and will pick a booth or table that isn’t so close to other customers. Note that the lunch and breakfast menus look really good and judging from the dinner… we will have to try that as well.

I think that this is one of the hidden values, right out of Portlandia style. I have tried many dishes and enjoyed them all.

We stopped into Wild Abandon for some happy hour fun and left full and happy– mission accomplished! The ambiance is funky and inviting with dim lighting and unique paintings. The servers were very friendly and attentive. We started with a couple Bulleit Manhattans which were well made. We then moved on to: Oyster Shooters– Big and solid shooters! They were quite spicy due to a bit too much horseradish but otherwise lovely. Caesar Salad– Simple, crisp and perfectly dressed. Polenta Pizza– Really unique and surprisingly good! Shrimp Mazatlan– Simply delicious! The sauce was awesome, the shrimp were big and perfectly cooked, and the grilled polenta went really well with the dish. Overall a great experience and we will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

The bottom line is that in a city full of fantastic brunches, Wild Abandon simply serves an alright one. It’s easier to get a table than many of the big-name spots in town, but I don’t think anybody is going to leave feeling wowed by their meal. None of us were. Of our medium sized group, we ran the gambit of the menu. Biscuits and gravy, scrambles, and I personally ordered an eggs Benedict. Seeing that scallops were an option — one that I’d never before seen on a brunch menu — I opted for that, after the assurance from our server that it was fantastic. Well, it wasn’t. It wasn’t bad, it was just completely unmemorable. How scallops Benedict ends up unmemorable just baffles me mind. Asking the others about their meals, everybody responded with a general lack of enthusiasm. No bueno. Service was fine, with regular coffee and water refills, and the ability to split the check without much hassle. The interior was sort of ramshackle, the kind of place that looks like a lot of it might have been sourced from a Goodwill. TL:DR? While nothing was expressly wrong with our visit, I feel no pull to return. In a city like Portland, with some of the best food in the country, that’s a bad deal.
